Katsuto Shinohara's Online Review Report Card

I drove my dad from Fresno to see Dr. Shinohara. He treated (66 Seeds) my dad's Prostate Cancer over 10 years ago. My dad is now 86 years old and is still cancer free. He had no side effects and was back to normal the following day. Dr. Shinohara is very skilled and he was very kind to my dad. We highly recommend him!

Disappointing. Came-in for a biopsy and he was unprepared. Notifies me he has no MRI image when I had provided UCSF all the images taken less than a year ago. Hard time apologizing for ineptitude. Biopsy will have to be rescheduled. Would like a referral to another doctor.

Great skill, full of experience, careful and studious Dr Shinohara was right on target as far as making a diagnostic and choosing the right surgical procedure for the case. He executed the procedure very skillfully and painlessly. He is also a very pleasant person very considerate and very sweet not only with his patients but with the staffs working with him. This is the third Doctor in this UCSF urology department I consulted according to there specialty. They were all doing great. De Shinohara was no exception.

I have been Dr. Shinohara's patient for more than 15 years.  My opinion is that he is very smart and very skilled.  You will not find a better MD to deal with prostate cancer or bladder cancer or BPH.

A world class urologist and a gentleman.  I am very grateful for the superb care I received. (I am a physician and I deeply appreciate Dr. Shinohara's great surgical skill.)

Superb world class surgeon. Provides clear information and explaines carefully. A good listener and provide options for treatment. Could not have been in better hands.

if you value your health, do not see this doctor. he hurt one of my family members in a simple procedure.  again, do not see this doctor.especially for the type of medicine he practices. get a 2nd opinion. and then a 3rd opinion. be smart .

At UCSF Medical Center, Dr. Shinohara is much in demand and spends little time with patients; follow-up questions to him are generally answered by nurses. Men facing prostate issues can rely on him for expert surgery but will need to turn elsewhere to analyze results and choices.

I had a 2:30 pm appointment.  They took my vitals at 3:15 and I walked out a couple of minutes before 5.  I didn't leave the exam room for all that time and NO ONE came back to update or apologize.  The staff is rude and not helpful at all.  The practice, outside of him, is not helpful either.  Go somewhere else.

Doctor is very abrupt and impersonal.  Biopsy procedure very painful.  His staff are rude, insensitive and unhelpful...   i was waiting for an appointment in their office, asked the person at the desk where the bathroom was and went out briefly to urinate.  I came back and waited for my appointment.  After a long wait, I asked when I would be able to see the Dr.  They said they had called for me but I wasn't there!  They had called while I was in the bathroom.  Therefore, because I failed to show, I had to reschedule for another appointment, plus get charged for the MISSED appointment.  I was flabbergasted and told them what I thought of their operation.
