Laurence F. Yee's Online Review Report Card

I had suffered for over a year with a missed diagnosis of severe gallbladder issues. Finally it was identified and I urgently needed a surgeon. My PCP recommended Dr. Yee (my PCP is a concierge physician who only recommends the best). The first appointment was scheduled quickly (almost same day) -- even when his office worried he didn't have time, Dr. Yee fit me in. After discussing the options it was clear that surgery was needed -- but Dr. Yee didn't push and was extremely patient. I was the one who pushed for a quick scheduling of surgery to eliminate the pain and suffering I was experiencing. Even over the Christmas holidays, he and his office team worked hard and were able to get me in for surgery QUICKLY! I am now one month past my surgery and DOING GREAT! Dr. Yee is amazing -- not only does he have impeccable credentials and experience, but he is a great communicator, a wonderful human being and backed up by a staff who is efficient, caring and incredibly supportive. A very rare find in healthcare these days! I can not recommend Dr. Yee and his team more highly!

All I can say is thank God for Dr. Yee! He is professional, highly skilled and also has a kind and gentle heart, particularly when dealing with 'scaredy-cat' patients like me. He has my highest recommendation after performing 2 colonoscopies and a gastrointestinal surgery over the last 11 years. I wish I could give him 10 stars!

Dr. Yee is a life saver! I am deeply grateful to him!2018 my colonoscopy, 2021 my gallbladder removal surgery, were all done smoothly and successfully by him!I fully understood every procedure/surgery has risks. As an elderly patient, I must do my homework to minimize the risks, e.g. try the best to educate myself about the procedure/surgery, consult with family doctor and other specialist(s) for second opinion, communicate with the surgeon about my situation/wishes, fully cooperate/follow the surgeon's/surgery center's protocols, ....Before the surgery I watched more than a dozen YouTube videos to learn other patients' experience in removing their gallbladder, what to do and what not to do, pre- and post-op, e.g. I learned pain-killer may cause constipation. So after surgery I avoided taking pain-killer if ever possible.Due to good prep, mentally and physically, after surgery I resumed regular food the 2nd day and bowel movement the 3rd day, and fully recovered in 2-3 weeks.Highly skilled, experienced, and professional, caring and kind, Dr. Yee is my hero! I cannot thank him enough. He is one of the best doctors I ever had! Bravo!

Dr Lawrence Yee did a colonoscopy for me years ago. I ended up going to the ER. He did not care about patients.

Easy to make an appointment, nice facility and have recommend to friends. I saw Dr. Michelle Li

Avoid him at all cost! He was 30 mins late to the appointment & spent less than 5 mins with me. He doesn't listen or care about the patient. He didn't read about my conditions or records, even everything was sent through referral. He showed inpatient and rushed me through the door. Half of the consultation was spent at the counter as I had more questions for him (while he was walking out). I am extremely disappointed with services received - especially paying so much for an unprofessional 5 mins consultation.

This individual runs a mill that does not give adequate individualized attention to the patients it runs through its assembly line. For example, my elderly wife was referred to Dr. Yee for a routine colon resection after a small early stage tumor was discovered during a colonscopy. She was in excellent health but suffered from Atrial Fibrillation, a condition documented in her medical records, one that makes surgery counter indicated except in the most serious circumstances that did not exist in her case. After driving three hours down from the North Coast for a consultation with him, we were floored when a member of his staff asked us whether we had brought the file with us. During a ten minute meeting with Dr. Yee in his inner sanctum it became immediately apparent he knew nothing about my wife's case and for the first time in our presence reviewed her medical records on his computer and thereafter made some prefunctory comments, but at no point were her particular health conditions inquired into or discussed. Two weeks later she returned for the surgery, but had a stroke the morning after she was released from CPMC and died two weeks later. I have no doubt that Dr. Yee's negligence, along with that of her treating physician back home, was a material cause of my wife's untimely death.

After driving three hours for a consultation with him, we were floored when a member of his staff asked us whether we had brought the file with us. During a brief meeting with Dr. Yee in his office it became immediately apparent he knew nothing about my wife's case and for the first time in our presence briefly reviewed her medical records on his computer, but at no point were her particular health conditions inquired into or other treatment options for her discussed. Two weeks later she returned for the surgery, but had a stroke the morning after she was released from CPMC and died two weeks later of multiple organ failure due to blood clotting. Four months later, after an official inquiry into this tragic episode was initiated, he left a brief voice mail extending condolences to us for our loss.

I'm writing an update to my review after a young man private-messaged me about his unfortunate experience with Dr. Yee and wanted me to be more forthcoming about my experience. In short, after routine surgery seemed to go well, I nevertheless was in the recovery room for six hours in severe pain. There is still no explanation for that to this day. But Dr. Yee then made the paramount mistake of shooting me up with a massive dose of painkiller that sent me to the hospital for five days with an acute kidney injury. But I recovered due to the swift actions of the doctors in the hospital. And Dr. Yee did apologize most sincerely. But had he checked my chart during my six hours of agony in the recovery room, he would've seen that I have third stage kidney disease, a malady which has zero tolerance for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The convenient use of Toradol did allow me to leave the surgery center. But had my wife not awakened me and dragged me to the emergency room in the middle of the night, I might not have been able to bounce back as I did. One further note, there should have been an official investigation into my case, it's mandatory for most medical institutions when things go wrong, but there was no follow up.

He is acting like he is retired and collecting a paycheck for never doing any thing. A patient with a life or death surgical needs that he can address goes strangely ignored by his design. He pretends he is doing some thing with extremely lame referrals that are irrelevant to the problem.. He watches death from his lack of service..He chose this way to hurt people needlessly, to watch them suffer and potentially die, sadly enough.
