List of Lavanya P. Krishnan's Reviews
I went twice for acne. After the second visit, the derm advised I buy their "Acne Correction Pads." Trusting the dermatologist & hoping to treat my acne outbreak, I bought their (private label, expensive) product. When I got home, I realized it was just a blend of glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acid that I could have gotten from the drugstore for much cheaper -- and it was packed with unnecessary fragrance and oils, both of which are irritants for my skin. I felt a little scammed. I hope I can find a better dermatologist that is transparent the treatments & products they recommend, gives me options, and doesn't push their private label, over-priced brand on me.
I did 3 sessions of Fraxel laser treatment in 2019 for acne scarring with Dr. Krishnan and afterwards there was some hyperpigmentation around my cheekbone area where the skin is darker. Since then, I have been going back to Dr. Krishnan who has been treating the area with lasers for the past 2.5 years. During these 2.5 years, I did try another dermatologist who prescribed a Hydroquinone cream that made it worse.Following that, I went back to Dr. Krishnan who had treated the area several more times with lasers. At the end of the day, the hyperpigmentation is still there and I am doing consultations with other dermatologists to try to get rid of the hyperpigmentation. All in all, this has been a long long process with countless office visits. When I first went to Dr. Krishnan for my initial Fraxel consultation, I asked what risks are there with this type of procedure and she said "none." Two years later, that doesn't seem to be the case as I still have the hyperpigmentation and have spent countless hours and money dealing with the issue. To Dr. Krishnan's credit, she did refund me 50% of the cost for Fraxel and has been very accommodating and easy to work with in trying to solve the issue. I just wish that I knew that the hyperpigmentation could have been brought up as a risk. If so, I do not think I would have done the Fraxel laser treatment.
Dr. Krishnan treated me today for my stubborn sebaceous hyperplasia lesions on my face. I’ve never been to a dermatologist before and was slightly nervous about the procedure. She was kind patient knowledgeable and had the most gentle touch. She takes a lot of pride in her craft and it shows. I will definitely go to her for future needs and highly recommend others to do the same. Thank you Dr. Krishnan
Dr. Krishnan was really nice and took my acne issues seriously. She helped me try several medications and eventually I went on Accutane which absolutely was a miracle drug. The best part was that she actually realized that I could get insurance to cover my treatment if I went to another dermatologist so she helped point me in the right direction. Over a year later, they also managed to get my insurance to cover my treatment and sent me an unexpected reimbursement check! Definitely recommend Arya Derm for excellent care and ethics!
Arya Derm was my first experience in a dermatologist office. Hence I've had a great first impression and I highly recommend them, especially to guys that are skeptical (just like I was). The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. Dr. Forum Patel has helped me manage and treat dry scalp and hair loss; She's great and you'll definitely see improvements.
Despite living in Oakland and no longer having to do my commute to San Francisco, I still find myself going to Arya Derm for Dr. Patel. Their prices are a bit higher than some dermatology offices in the East Bay, but I think it's worth it. Dr.Patel is very knowledgable about the skin and was able to offer advice to help treat my problem areas. The office itself is very clean and the staff is very friendly. I never have an issue making an appointment either through email or phone. I liked Dr.Patel so much that I also got my mom to go for a skin condition that she has had for several year. With one look, one ointment, and three weeks, the skin condition that my mom has had for years is gone!
Pregnancy can wreck havoc on your skin. I thought after I delivered my skin would go back to its normal clear self and boy was I wrong. Instead I got rid of the bumps from persistent acne but then was left with stubborn scars that made me self conscious about my skin. In came Dr. Forum Patel to the rescue! She did 3 Fraxel treatments across a few months to reduce the scarring and it gave me the clear skin I was looking for. The difference before and after was huge. I now feel very comfortable going makeup free or just a tinted moisturizer on my face. I also did a round of Botox for under eye wrinkles and forehead and was so happy with the results.I also go to Dr. Patel for my kids skin issues. Both of them have eczema and the pediatricians all recommend moisturizing which didn't cut it for my kids. I finally had enough of the persistent eczema and decided to ask a dermatologist. She prescribed ointments that zapped the eczema within two weeks. It was the best decision I made to go over the pediatricians head for their skin in the long term. Dr. Patel detailed all the pros and cons between her approach and the pediatricians and then allowed me to make the decision. In my personal opinion, a dermatologist is one of the most important doctors you will see. Finding someone you trust is imperative and I personally feel I have found that with this practice.
Dr. Patel and Arya Derm are hands down the BEST derm practice in SF (and I should know, I've tried at least a half a dozen other practices within the SF city limits alone). Dr. Patel has an innovative solution to each and every skin concern, whether it's been artful filler and Botox to combat the look of aging, lasers to remove acne scars, appropriate regimens to fight melasma, crisis counseling hormonal flare ups of acne in ones' 30s... I wouldn't trust my face or my skin to any other practice. Dr. Patel knows her stuff and combines science with the necessary artistry to help you look and feel your best. She is also warm and funny, and makes appointments something that I look forward to! Add to that Arya Derm's truly outstanding admin and nursing team (who make scheduling such a breeze and always make me feel so well taken care of), and Arya Derm deserves 20 stars in my book.
Dr. Forum Patel is by far my most favorite derm I have been to. She does a really great job of creating a cost effective plan for my skin.I am 26 with acne and lots of acne scars. Dr. Patel is the first doctor to help me get my acne under control and give me the confidence to not wear makeup everyday. In addition to my skin care, she also does my botox and filler. Other injectors make me bruise A LOT but her technique results in very little bruising. At the risk of sounding conceited, I am so beautiful now because of her! I also really appreciate her office staff. They are all kind and very knowledgable. Not to mention, they make scheduling soo easy. I highly recommend her for any skin or injection needs!
Arya Derm is excellent. I've seen Dr. Forum Patel over the last year and a half for a number of skin concerns and she is nothing short of brilliant. She listens, she gives recommendations (at ALL price points!), and is not only incredibly personable, but knows her stuff. Most importantly though, I've seen results - I first came in for a dog bite scar, before moving on to addressing texture/hyperpigmentation from acne scarring. I am just so pleased with the results and can't recommend Dr. Patel and Arya Derm enough. I've often been afraid of some derm offices feeling a little stuffy or worse, pushy. I feel so comfortable and in the right hands here, from the front desk to the team of medical assistants, everyone here makes it a pleasurable experience. (Shout-out to Emily!)As someone that has always felt troubled/embarrassed by their skin, seeing positive results and feeling *good* about my skin is a revelation. I can't thank you all enough :) I'll be back!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
