Dr. Metz has given me back my life. For his extraordinary diagnostic skill, care, and kind, manner, I will be eternally grateful. It has been two years since my L3S1 fusion with spinopelvic fixation at UCSF. It is no coincidence that I chose to write this on Thanksgiving Day. Thank you, Dr. Metz.

Dr Metz performed a laminotomy and microdiscectomy on my s1/l5 after two epidural shots and other conservative treatments didn't work for pain that was so bad I couldn't walk. My chronic pain was gone post surgery! He has been amazing to work with and is a capable and skilled surgeon if you end up needing to operate in your back

I received excellent care from Dr. Metz for a diagnosis of foraminal spinal stenosis. He took time to explain the various treatment options, and provided me with a hierarchy of options for pain management. This has helped me manage the recurrent episodes of pain effectively. He used lay terms to help me understand my MRI results.Dr. Metz provided comprehensive care, was punctual, and professionally impeccable.

Dr. Metz is extremely knowledgeable on diseases/pathologies of the spine. He explained my spine degeneration, plan of treatment, and possible progression all while walking through MRI and x-ray results with me. I also found his bedside manner and inter-personal skills to be exceptionally good.

Dr Metz is an incredible person and outstanding surgeon. I could not walk going into surgery, came out of surgery with no pain and within 2 weeks I was walking one mile daily (with a walker). Dr Metz is the best!

He is fantastic! He has true confidence in what he does. He is the first dr. That I have seen (in 28 years) that knows how to address my congenital cervical auto fusion! He can look long term and short term in managing symptoms.

He explained clearly and in satisfying and extensive detail his diagnosis and proposed course of treatment and the basis for his conclusions. He was careful to explain what was known and unknown about my condition so that I would not have unreasonable expectations. I am quite happy that I am a patient of Dr. Metz.
