List of Lucia R Tuffanelli's Reviews
As a healthcare worker I found the staff professional, considerate and polite. Dr Tuffanelli was excellent. Very thoughtful and supportive. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone.
I don't understand the bad reviews. Front desk was friendly and prompt, wait time was <5 minutes, and Dr. Tuffanelli has a great bedside manner. I had a consultation and booked a follow up procedure within the same week; it was quick and painless, and the doctor explained the entire process along the way. I am happy with my visits and would highly recommend.
Direct and helpful. I could see how some people could interpret her directness as not friendliness but she was truly helpful even gave me samples and discount on prescription. So for me nice is what you get and not what appears. She wasn't one of those dermatologist offices trying to sell fake beauty but helpful, practical and matter of fact. Great.
Dr. Tuffanelli is one the best dermatologists in SF. Yes, sometimes I wait for 10-20 minutes but I get it - she’s busy because she’s good. I’ve seen at least half a dozen dermatologists in SF and she’s the best. I really don’t mind the wait as long as someone can solve my skin issues.
I have been seeing the Tuffanellies for 40 years starting withe her father. While the office seems hecd overwhelmed they are very busy. It has improved a lot. I believe they are busy because they are the best. There are long wait times sometimes but I think that is because they never rush through a visit. They are very thorough checking not only on the specific problem but investing whether it could be caused by oter bigger health problems. Once I remember having a second Dr called in to consult then being referred to the head of dermatology at UCSF. I don't think there are any better dermatologists.
The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because I like Dr. Tuffanelli personally and the front desk has improved their attitude. But the wait time is still unnecessary and is very long. I have an appointment, I make it on time or early, I expect the same courtesy. This office is not busy today, yet I sit and wait. Average wait time here is 1 ½ hours. Totally absurd. And I have been a patient for over 15 years so I know what I am talking about. I do think Dr. Lucia Tuffanelli is a good doctor though.
Horrible serviceFront desk is completely uneducated, rude, unprofessional, lazyDoctor's have no idea what they are doing.Do not go here.
Horrible bedside manner. Super long wait to be seen. Very unfriendly and unprofessional, does not even crack a tiny smile. Left her office feeling like the whole experience and interaction was so unpleasant.
I have been a patient of Dr. Lucia Tuffanelli for 20+ years from when her dad was still working and have been extremely happy with the service since the beginning. I love the family feeling in the office--her staff have been with her for years and years as well and are so great to talk to and very helpful on the admin side. My whole family also sees Dr Lucia and we all have 100% trust in her abilities and diagnoses. The results for our various needs have been top-notch. Dr Lucia has always been thorough and proactive in our treatments. I'm also confident she stays abreast of new developments in dermatology. She is practical in approach but has a very kind, engaging manner and I always enjoy my appointments with her. I am very grateful to Dr Lucia and Team who take care of my family's skin so well!!
My experience with Dr. Lucia Tuffanelli was horrible from beginning to end. My face-to-face time with her only last about 10 minutes, but those 10 minutes were miserable. To start, I had to wait for over an hour without any updates on how long the wait would be. When she did finally enter the room, I was applauded by her bluntly racist behavior towards me. When she saw I was Latinx and saw my name, she rolled the R in my name excessively/comedically and said, "Okay,¿Que pasa?", rather than asking me, her new patient, how she could help me or what the reason for my visit was. I was treated like a caricature at a fiesta. This was incredibly insensitive and in poor taste. When I explained my symptoms, she rolled her eyes and asked if I had been under stress lately. I confirmed I had been, to which she replied, "Well there you go" while shrugging her shoulders and pursing her lips. When I asked for recommendations on sunscreen, she recommended makeup with sunscreen because I should "always wear makeup" so I can "look pretty again." She prescribed me medication without even really looking at my face or asking me about my history with acne/rosacea and didn't give me much information about what to expect from the medication. As a dermatologist and a health care professional, I could not believe how rude, disrespectful, and racist she was. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
