Dr yau is so rude and dismissive. If you have any health issues, never see her. She is terrible

I do not recommend Dr. Yau. She didnt not advocate for my health and never took me seriously. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease once I found a new doctor.
This review is for Dr. Yaus office and staff not Dr. Yau. As a Doctor she seems quite capable but she really needs to revamp her office system and staff. Not once have I called her office has anyone picked up the phone. It is always voice mail and its not necessarily returned quickly so if you needed a same day appointment you can likely forget about it. It is super frustrating to play phone tag which I have done multiple times trying to get an appointment. I find it just ridiculous. I leave this review in hopes that Dr. Yau finds a system where phone calls are actually answered during business hours or appointments can be made online.
Ive been seeing Dr May Yen Yau as my general doctor for, over a couple decades. She is warm, friendly and a very good listener. No matter what my medical needs are she is there to help me out. I highly recommend this amazing doctor, to whomever is needing an outstanding General Doctor.Yvette Pasco
The visit was fine nothing special but nothing bad. I had a physical done and when I wanted the results to be sent to me or even discussed, they said I have to pay $30 to get them. I have NEVER experienced this. I payed for the office visit I now you want me to pay another $30 just so I can see my results. This is absolutely unacceptable. It also took me 2 week to get a call back, so I ended up going into the office in the middle of my work day, which was a HUGE pain. Ive had plenty of physicals at other offices and I get a full report of all the details (cholesterol levels, etc.). This should be no different. I should not have to pay to see a full review of my results.
Ive been Dr. Yaus patient for several years on the recommendation of many friends. She is down to earth, very competent, and efficient. She knows whats going on with me and Im glad she is into the electronic era bringing her laptop with her into the exam! Once I had an eye emergency (before I had an ophthalmologist) and showed up in her office first thing in the morning. She saw me and was able to recommend an ophthalmologist to see in the building. I appreciate that she would see me like that without an appointment. I recommend her to any of my friends that need a physician. Unfortunately, shes full lately. Im so glad she has such a great assistant, Vivian, who handles issues (prescriptions, appointments, etc.) seamlessly. Ive been with doctors where the assistant was impossible to reach without going in person for an appointment. Vivian is the best!
Forget trying to book an appointment on your first try they force patients into voicemail then your lucky if you get a timely call back...I had acute pain from a pinched nerve so after two days of trading voicemails, I literally traveled to the office to just set an appointment & was sent away because the appointment scheduler wasnt there @9:00 AM that absence solved the riddle of why phone calls are never answered or messages returned timely....but the Doctor was there, front desk was ... staff was...and then a walkin with no US insurance was allowed in immediately evidently because he paid the entire charge with credit card better than sharing copays with Cigna! So I had to go to Urgent Care on Divisadero oh, before I left I asked to see another provider that is colocated in the same office.....and they said not accepting new patients SAD staff is low skilled , cant communicate effectively, and seems unable to make any commonly known best practice decision unmotivated and disengaged, always the other girls fault....likely as frustrated as the patients....what a colossal waste of time and further delay to receive timely quality medical care THANK G 4 URGENT CARE!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
