MIng Tsang's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Tsang was my PCP for 4 years while I lived in San Francisco.He was fantastic. I spent 2 years searching for a good PCP before finding Dr. Tsang, and I stuck with him. Why?1) He was on time I never had to wait more than 10 minutes to see him2) He was able to see me on short notice luckily, I lived ~15 minutes away but there were times where I had to see him the same day and he was able to make it work 3) He didnt make me come in for an appointment to get a prescription if it wasnt necessary sometimes, he would be able to write me a prescription for a medication Id used before (e.g. cream for my eczema) without an appointment first.4) He remembered me, got to know me and had great bedside manner he helped me work through a number of health issues over the years and was patient, professional and thoughtful. I kinda felt like he was like my dad. He studied my charts and remembered things about my allergies, etc.5) He takes most insurance I switched insurance a couple times as I switched jobs a couple times. He took all insurance policies I had (granted, I always had PPO but still)Highly recommend for someone looking for a PCP.

I was a stubborn person. I didnt care about my health. Dr. Tsang made me realized how important is to take care minor issues before it becomes big. He is a caring and very straight forward person. He explained well all the details of after care and the next steps. I like how professional he is. Thanks to him, I feel much better and healthy.

Love Dr. Tsang! He is caring, attentive, and a great doctor. He helped me immensely with exactly the right tests and medication when I really needed it with different medical problems. When I had neck pain, he made a special call to a compound pharmacy for a topical pain medicine that really helped me, and Ive never had something like it. Hes creative in his solutions and Im super grateful! He is also very responsive to his patients, and his staff is great too (thanks Kevin!) Thank you Dr. Tsang!

Dr. Tsang is amazing! He knows what he is doing, he is polite, understanding and have good bedside manners, he takes time to listen and what I like is he never really jumps on to prescribing tons of medicines and tests for a simple issue without understating and explaining the root cause. Last year my husband I had terrible stomach ulcers and thanks to Dr. Tsang for always been kind and taking the time to listen to our issues. Id totally recommend Dr. Tsang.

Unfortunately Yelp does not allow zero stars.  Ming Tsang (I am reluctant to call him Dr) misdiagnosed a lump in my groin for a hernia even though it did not show any of the characteristic of a hernia.  If his diagnosis had been correct (the lump was solid and painful, it would have been a strangulated hernia it would have required emergency surgery. The lump turned out to be at least 2 lymph node masses.  When I finally went to a surgeon, the surgeon ordered an immediate sonogram revealing a LN mass that was 5 cm x 2m x 2.5 cm. The surgeon called me back on the Wednesday and did surgery to remove the mass on the friday.  He was convinced the mass was lymphoma. As you can imagine this was highly stressful. Luckily it turned out to be severe cat scratch fever. Moreover if Tsang had diagnosed this lump earlier, a 10 day course of Dox would have cured me.  Retrospectively there were other indicators that it was cat scratch, however Tsang let it go so far that it looked a lot like lymphoma. Added salt to the wound, he discussed me and my health issues with a friend of mine when my friend was seeing him, and told my friend I was a hypochondriac. Furthermore he also discussed more health information with my partner without my knowledge. My health privacy is paramount, at that s why we HIPAA agreement.  SO NOT ONLY IS THIS Doctor an absolute idiot, he is a highly unethical and clueless idiot.  So I strongly advise to not go to Tsang....misdiagnoses and he shares your medical information with others without your knowledge.  I would also like to add this misdiagnosis was not the first one.  I also had a limp of glass in my foot which gave me recurrent infections ( I had 6 course of Keflex).  This was most likely that this hole in my foot was how I caught cat scratch fever. (other symptoms that I had CSD were low grade fevers over 2 months and severe headaches).  I went to the emergency room twice and urgent care due to these terrible headaches)in toto,1) multiple misdiagnoses that allowed CSF to become a major illness, that was highly likely (as per the surgeon) to have been lymphoma2) discussed my medical information with my friend and partner, and possibly others3) He called me a hypochondriacHe also has a preponderance to push very new medications by giving samples.  These medications are not usually covered or have insane copays.So he cost me a lot of money (ER visits, not being able to work), unnecessary surgery (1 month recovery), lost income due to not being able to work due to headaches and then recovery from surgery and a massive amount of stress to me, my partner, and my family (my mother is a 50 veteran nurse, when she saw the sonogram she cried a lot)STAY AWAY, he may well kill you, and then discuss it with your friends...

Ive been looking for a good PCP for the last 2 or 3 years, and was great to find this guy. I felt he listens and gave me more time than most. He didnt rush me like others Ive had in the past. Plus, he didnt just write or recommend medications right off the bat. Im not a big fan of taking medication for any little ailment, which has been my experience with a couple of doctors Ive had. To be perfectly thorough, the building is not as nice as some of the other doctors Ive been with. But the pros outweighs this minor factor, especially this place being so close to where I live. Plus, based on what I read on Zocdoc, he contributes his time to undeserved populations.

A self serving jerk who is only interested in a copay. I hadnt been there in a less than a year. At my appointment we specifically discussed my migraines. I get migraines. He REFUSED to write me a prescription for ONE imitrex so that the horrible pain would stop that day. Its not some methamphetamine its freakin imitrex. He isnt getting a dime of my money. Beware of this fool.

Dr Tsang is a very nice guy, and I found his manor to be genuine every time I saw him. Im not the easiest patient, and so Im appreciative they did not kick me out. I thought I had found a doctor I could stick with.The office though...they are really bad with following up and following through with what they say they are going to do. They dont check messages even during business hours and in my case its all minor stuff but I dont know how I feel about someone who is my primary care doctor not really keeping track of things or do what they say they are going to do. Again I thing Dr Tsang is a great guy in general and a caring doctor. Everyone in the office is nice, more or less. But you cant just drop the ball on people a bunch of times and not take responsibility for it unless you want patients to go elsewhere.Not a big deal, well all be fine but dont do that with someones heart meds or something.

I booked a Saturday appointment and they noshowed. This was a waste of a Saturday because Id restructured my plans for the day around this appointment.I booked via Zocdoc (2nd appointment, 1st one went fine). They confirmed the appointment, and they canceled my by voicemail but didnt cancel on Zocdoc. On the day before my appointment I got reminder emails and everything looked good to go. Then I showed up and they were closed.If you allow patients to use modern technology to book appointments, be sure you actually keep up with it!Dr. Tsang himself is okay. The front office seems like a mess.

I thought about this review for a very long time, as a one star review is a very severe rating and I dont give them arbitrarily. Although I would rate his manners and quality of office building high, this rating is based on his level of competence as a doctor in relation to two major health diagnoses that he missed of mine. To this day, I dont know for sure if this is due to his clear lack of fluency in the English language that prevents the degree of communication necessary for a proper clientpatient relationship, lack of reliable medical competency, or both; but either way, incidence of either of these factors make my one star review a very thorough evaluation of the lack of trust I would place in this doctor if I were to obtain another life threatening condition. I first came to Dr. Tsang for chronic joint pain. He was very trusting and made it easy to receive medication when I asked for it, but overlooked a lot of my symptoms which were indicative of an autoimmune condition. In his defense, I do have a very sensitive body prone to both acute and chronic infections and body injuries. So I came to him a lot in a short period of time for minor infections and a sprained ankle, which may have confused him into thinking I was a hypochondriac. I was really just trying to avoid extensive ER bills for non emergencies. Again, if we could have communicated properly we could have had that discussion.At one point, he essentially told me I was crazy since my blood work was normal and wrote me a referral script for a psychologist. I was deeply upset and offended because he wasnt listening to me and couldnt figure out what was wrong with me or at least direct me to the appropriate specialist. Instead of referring me to a specialist, he accused me of imagining it, but I trusted myself enough to know he was wrong. I later persisted with a board certified rheumatologist who diagnosed me with Psoriatic Arthritis within one 20 minute examination. This condition doesnt show up on blood work, and no, I was not imagining joint pain Dr. Tsang. My joint pain immediately went away once I was given the proper medication.Whats even worse than this is that in my final visit to him as my primary care doctor, I came to his office with severe cough, exhaustion, and chest pain. An ER doctor later took my temperature with a high fever and told me these are all CLEAR signs of pneumonia, which I almost died from due to him missing it. When I came in, he DIDNT even take my temperature WHICH IS A BASIC PROCEDURE EVERY DOCTOR should take in this circumstance. He told me I had a cold and heart burn and gave me heart burn medication and cough medicine. I almost died from my fever. Honestly, failed auto immune diagnosis aside, I would not put my health in this doctors hands out of this one incident alone. Hes lucky I didnt sue for malpractice.
