I don't understand how this man is a doctor honestly. Please don't go here. When the doctor got into the room, he didn't look at me or introduce himself, he literally just said "show me what's going on" and poked my hairline with his pen. He didn't look over my chart and started prescribing me medication that he didn't explain to me, even going as far as to apply something on my head without telling me what it was or getting my consent to do so. I'm very sensitive to a lot of products and my scalp started burning immediately and I got a headache. He didn't ask me my goals, questions, anything. Just filled out his prescription pad with little information about my health or anything, despite filling out a physical health history form once I got there. The conversation was maybe two minutes and then he swept me to the front counter to ring me up for products that I didn't agree to or even know about. I had to firmly tell the counter person that I have other consults elsewhere and I'm just seeing my options. I definitely wouldn't recommend going here after that. After I got home I looked up other reviews of his office and many of them were the same experience as mine. A waste of time.

I have been to many dermatologists, and Dr. Panagotacos is the best. It's true that he doesn't usually seem very pleasant at first, but he is all business and knows his stuff. He doesn't mind if you ask him questions, but he doesn't want to hear what the internet suggested might be your problem and solution because he can easily tell. Skin and hair issues take time to get better, but if you follow his instructions he can definitely help you like he helped me!

Dr. Panagotacos is experienced and professional. He took the time to explain the reasons for post menopausal hair loss and prescribed a successful treatment plan for me. It has been approximately 8 months and my hair growth is noticeably improving. I’m very grateful to the Doctor.

Dr. Panagotacos' diagniostic qualities are the best, he is a thinker rather than a pill distributor, he does not put you through useless tests to rack up more money.   He does not waste his and YOUR time in useless pampering for the feeble of hearts and those who need excessive bed manners. I will highly recommend those who desire a good treatment to go see him. Conversely, I would tell those who want to spend money for someone holding their hands and fake compassionate smiles, to go see another dermatologist who will gladly take their $$$ for useless tests and empty verbal reassurance.This is my view as a scientist!I therefore greatly recommend Dr. Panagotacos.

Extremely unprofessional, misogynistic and untrustworthy. I went in for a follow up to check on a mole. I then asked questions about supplements and treatments for hair thinning. He was not only rude, but extremely dismissive of my questions and concerns about treatments he was recommending. I almost left halfway through the appointment because of his attitude. He kept me waiting for over 30 mins while he made small talk, twice. Also his office is out of the 50’s, worn and dingy. Avoid him!

Dr. Panagotacos did a hair transplant about 3 years ago. He is a mysogynist and should not work on women. He cut my occipital nerve on the top of my head and it still hurts. The hair he transplanted grew in kinky.  It has now all fallen out,. Ladies, avoid him. He is a creep. PC

Doc Martin or Doctor Welby?  For you Startrek fans, maybe a combination of Mr. Warf & Mr. Spoc?If your problem is minor, and you want a hand holder, Dr. P is probably not your go to guy.  Now, if your problem is severe, and maybe you've already been misdiagnosed, or under medicated, you would very much appreciate Dr. P's no nonsense approach. How could he possibly diagnose a skin condition by just seeing you walk into the examining room?  Well - after @ 50 years including teaching interns, he's seen it ALL!  My wife suddenly developed a severe allergic reaction around her eyes @ 2014?, so we first went to the eye doc.  That doc was very concerned, very patient, very sweet, and claimed to know all about allergies as a personal sufferer of them etc., and offered a prescription anti-biotic.  It provided some relief, but then the condition got much worse.  That's when I remembered Dr. P. While UCSF, our providers, is booking appointments weeks and months in advance, Dr. P. saw us the same day!  That's caring.  That's service!He asked us to bring in all of our household products that skin is exposed to.  He took one look and knew what to prescribe.  He told us what to look for in product labels to stay away from.  He suggested "Cetaphil" as a face and hand cleanser = used in hospitals, and safe for babies.  It's very expensive over the counter, but if you have sensitive skin, you don't care what it costs.  Nobody is perfect.  What your expectations are matters.  Everything Dr. P told us checked out.

I have been going to Dr. Panagotacos for TWENTY YEARS. I like him and respect him immensely.I owe my appearance, and perhaps my eyesight, to Dr. P.1) He cured me of a very serious, eyesight-threatening pseudomonas aeroginosa infection of the face, and no scars remain. (Pseudomonas aeroginosa resists all antibiotics -- it can kill you!)2) He has restored my hair very inexpensively and without surgery. He has a formulating pharmacy produce generic finasteride and special, highly-effective minoxidil with betamethsone valerate solution so we don't have to pay the outrageous prices for Propecia and Rogaine. It works beautifully.3) He removed a frightening, hideously ugly growth from my forehead that turned out to be a keratoacanthoma - not malignant, thank God! No scars remain.4) He removed a nasty scar under my eye that I got playing basketball many years ago. No scars remain.5) He fixed sun-damaged blood vessels on my nose. He has been a life saver for me.Dr. Panagotacos is at the top of his field. He has been, and may still be, Chief of Dermatology at a major, world-famous San Francisco hospital. He is an expert dermatologist/surgeon who has trained medical students for decades. He worked in the development of minoxidil and finasteride and therefore knows the biochemistry and pharmacokinetics better than almost anyone. He is devoted to his patients and he works extremely hard on their behalf. He's a great guy with a great heart. Thank you, Dr. P!

Dr Panagotacos has saved my hair three times; once in my 20's once inbetween and  now at 55.

Strange.  I gave Dr. Panagotacos a 5-star review back in 2008.  He's outstanding.  Then I noticed 18 other reviews including mine were hidden as "not counted" by yelp.  I guess the jerk 1-star reviewer whose review "counted" must work for yelp...  BTW:  I don't work for Dr. Panagotacos, and not a relative of his, and paid him good money as just a patient on 2 different times years apart.  And I haven't talked with him for years.  His work is simply the best there is in the Bay Area. No scars, perfect hair replacement, people are amazed.  He is an artist in his work.  He also owns a farm in Greece that produces award-winning olive oil which he sells in upscale SF area markets.  The mural in his waiting room is a painting of his olive groves in Greece.  (Check out the 5-star hidden reviews at the bottom of this page for the real truth.  Why would anyone want to smear a great hair doctor...?  A competitor, maybe?)  5-star!  I saw several other hair doctors before I went to Peter.  he was by far the best, most professional person in his field.
