Ucsf Dermatologic Surgery And Laser Center's Online Review Report Card

Occasionally I need what's known as "mohs" surgery because of a tendency for my skin to show areas of skin cancer. This was the first place I received this treatment, though UCSF has other locations too, and everything went smoothly. There was a teacher and students involved, everyone was friendly and they made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. Even the minor scaring necessary never seems to draw anyone's attention when I go about my normal business.

What went well was that they listened to me! They switched to a different medicine. So I hope this medicine works

Dr. Raymond Cho is an outstanding, highly trained and knowledgeable dermatologist who is thorough and kind with his patients. I would recommend him to anyone seeking a good outcome with their skin issues.

if you have plenty of time to wait for your appointment to start, go for it. I have never seen wait times like this for a professional clinic. It's extremely frustrating.

Scheduling here is nonsense. As a returning patient with an immediate concern was told if I wanted timely care to go somewhere else.

Now we have conflicting information!! Three months ago I'm told the reason the physician was no longer offering appointments to current patients was due to the fact that she failed to clear something in the computer, now it's due to a death in her family. What does not make sense is if she had a death in her family then why wouldn't staff reroute patients to another physician, or at least notify patients and offer them options...it makes no sense whatsoever. I worked in a doctors office and if she was going to be out for an extended time, she made certain her patients had continuity of care. If true....RIP to her family member, my deepest sympathies.

When you eventually get in the dermatologists are good. However they book appointments 6-9 months out, even for urgent matters like misshapen moles or quickly spreading rashes. Then if your condition is not flaring up when you finally get the appointment they can't always help you. I don't understand why they are so understaffed. I have been a patient for four years and nothing has changed.

Due to a basal cell carcinoma diagnosis on my upper lip I opted for Mohs surgery. Although I had this surgery before on my forehead I had some cosmetic concerns about the outcome. I was fortunate to be under the care of Dr. Siegrid Yu who explained the procedure and put my concerns to rest. The results were better than I could have hoped for and I would give her 100 stars if I could. Dr. Compres and the surgical nurse who assisted in the process were kind, knowledgeable and efficient. The front desk staff were also friendly and helpful. I am definitely a fan!

Amazingly smart, and caring group of doctors. The office and check in is extremely simple. With a Large, not busy waiting room. Always a friendly staff.

I went to Dr. Roy Grekin at UCSF Dermatology Clinic for ablative laser resurfacing, because I was told he was very good at this procedure. I think he did an adequate job, however I would not recommend him for the following reasons: 1.) The agreed treatment plan was for my entire face. But on the day of the procedure he only did my eye and lip areas. I did not realize this until I took the bandages off the day after the procedure. When I pointed this out, he said we could do the rest of my face after I had healed. However, it takes several weeks before you can return to work, and even appear in public. I took two weeks off work to do this procedure. When will I have that time again anytime soon? 2.) He really needs to work on his bedside manner. He is rude, abrasive and condescending, and does not listen. As a woman, there is nothing worse than an older, male doctor talking down to you. I get that as Head of the UCSF Dermatology Department he is pressed for time, but he needs how to learn to speak to patients. And, if he does not have the bandwidth to do so, perhaps just stick to teaching? 3.) After the procedure, I developed hypopigmentation on my upper lip, otherwise known as the dreaded "milk mouth." While this can occur in rare cases with this laser, when you go to someone like Roy Grekin, it is NOT supposed to happen. He is the Head of Dermatology at UCSF, so you do not expect this complication. So, now I will have a pure white upper lip for the rest of my life.
