William Sellman's Online Review Report Card

I am highly critical of doctors because I dont think enough of them demonstrate customer focus. Dr Sellman is the best doctor Ive ever worked with. He is obviously an expert in his field but the reason I say hes the best is because he actually cares about the customer experience as well as the health of his customers.

A doctor that really cares and takes the time to listen. He has contacted other doctors, researched ideas Ive presented, and even called me at home at 7 PM to help with my very complicated medical issue. While I have doctors at Mayo Clinics in Rochester, MN, he has called and spent time reviewing with them ideas that can help me. Living in San Francisco makes him my lifeline.Smart, thoughtful but direct, and not a black vs white answer guy. I would very highly recommend him.

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Sellman at One Medical on Clay Street.  I came to him for followup care after an emergency room deep vein thrombosis (dvt) diagnosis (too much computer work and flying).  Thats a pretty big deal, since the clot can break loose and travel to your lung, causing a pulmonary embollism (pe) that can kill you.   Dr. Sellman was entirely on top of the issues.  He ordered up a blood test for a congenital clotting factor since I do not smoke, and thoughtfully adjusted my treatment program for the next three months.  I could explain the details of my case without feeling rushed.  I was in the market for a new primary care physician and I am very happy choosing him.  Their staff phlebotomist was very skillful, drawing the blood sample painlessly even though my veins have a tendency to collapse during blood draws. It is true that the waiting room experience at One Medical is more civilized than usual, which helps reduce stress.  They do tend to run on time, as far as I can tell, which keeps the waiting room from getting crowded.  That is a big consideration in flu season.  Finally, their interaction with the pharmacy was very good.  The pharmacy contacted me by cell phone before I even left the One Medical office.  I did all of the paperwork for my Xeralto prescription in the pleasant waiting room before I picked up the prescription.  The service was altogether seamless.

I cant speak highly enough about Dr. Sellman!!! I wont see anybody else!!! He explains what is going on in detail!! He takes all the time I need!!! Bedside manner is awesome!!! He IS my Doctor!! I have been going to AFP for almost 20!!!

Dr. Sellman practices out of his scope. He will literally prescribe you meds that are absolutely not appropriate and he has no idea what is appropriate for your constitution nor what might jive with your other meds or your background.He doesnt listen nor seem to care (completely against the Hippocratic oath he swore) and doesnt pay attention to your health history. Do yourself a favor and go to a doctor who listens and cares and works thoroughly to ensure you stay healthy.

Catch 22: Im new to Alameda, so I called Dr. Sellmans office to establish him as my General Practitioner. Hes accepting new patients and my insurance, but wont see me unless Im sick, I said, fine. Im not sick and not want to waste anyones time with an unnecessary visit. I just want to know I have a doctor that I can call on when Im sick. No can do, so Im calling another doctor. Jeesh!!!

He is fast but put percise

Dr. Sellman has been our family doctor for years.  Without a doubt he is the most compassionate and caring doctor we have.  He goes out of his way to help, listen and reply to messages.  We feel very fortunate to be under his care.

Dr.Sellman is a fantastic Doctor. I am 70yrs old and have had my share of care providers. I injured myself and was unable to come into the office due to my electric wheelchair not working. I had no way to the office and Dr.Sellman volunteered to do a home visit. I didnt even know doctors did home visits anymore. He is empathetic, compassionate, caring, and honest. I appreciate his time he takes out of his busy schedule to answer my numerous concerns. Im sure I would not be in such good health if it wasnt for his experience and compassion. Regards,Doris

My son works in New Zealand and was diagnosed with cancer. He had surgery there but no further treatments were given, which was very worrisome to our family. When he returned to the Bay Area, Dr. Sellman very kindly reviewed my sons options and guided us through the bureaucracy to find treatments for him through the VA. Dr. Sellman exemplifies what makes a truly great doctordedication to the care and wellness of all people, whether they are his longtime patients or not. For us he is a true medical hero!
