List of Fady Mohamed El-Gabalawy Md's Reviews
If it weren't for Dr. El-Gabalawy's kindness, I would not be where I am today. He set me on the path to become an independent and functioning individual.
Has a kind heart and a good doctor. Highly recommend this Dr. !!
He became my doctor when I entered a drug rehab/behavior health facility over 5 1/2 years ago. Though the wait can test your patience, he's been the only doctor I've had who has been able to keep my mental illness in check. I owe him a debt of gratitude. Thank you Dr. El!
Incredibly compassionate and took time to explain things to me
Great MD saved my life , will miss him
Dr. El-gabalawy has a calm, very comforting way of accessing his patient. In the eight and a half years I'm glad I trusted this Psychiatrist to help me. I will continue to improve every aspect of my life with the help of Dr. El-gabalawy.
Very good doctor. Professional, good listener, well versed in psychiatric meds. HORRIBLE office management. Often had to wait 1 hr or more past my appointment time to be seen.
Dr. El-Gabalawy has been my psychiatrist for 7 years and I am officially done with him. He is very busy and patients love him even though every visit to his office is always a very long wait (I once waited 1 1/2 hours for him, but after I returned to school, I could no longer afford to wait and be late for school.) I used to love him too, however, for the third and last time, I have seen that he is apparently simply far too busy to help patients who need him on an emergency basis. Over the last three years I had three medication emergencies, and could not get him or his office to call me back despite multiple calls - until long after I found a way to deal with the situation by myself without his help (despite making it clear that I was in a severe psychiatric emergency and needed his help.) I have retired military insurance and my prescriptions are handled only through the military pharmacy. I can't get my medication filled elsewhere unless I want to pay big bucks, which I don't have. My auto-refill at the national pharmacy was mishandled and delayed. Though the pharmacy admitted their error and said they would overnight it to me, someone at the national pharmacy erroneously dropped it in the mail without a tracking number, and yesterday was my 4th day without it. Without knowing how much longer it would be until I received it, and with the perspiration and tears of withdrawal pouring down my face, I called Dr. El-Gabalawy's office (no one picked up despite several calls) and asked if I could possibly come over and get a sample pack of my medication - just a couple of tablets to get me through and prevent a total meltdown. I paged Dr. El-G. Again, no response. At around 12:30 PM, desperate, I went to the nearest Walgreen's to see if I could buy a couple of pills. The world's kindest pharmacist (at the Lake and Del Mar store) faxed and phoned Dr. El-G's office and FINALLY at 8pm last night a prescription for a 30-day supply was phoned in. Unfortunately it was not what I needed: because the pharmacist was unable to break up the order a 30-day supply was far beyond my financial means. All I wanted was two or three pills to get me through. Dr. El-G returned the call of the pharmacy but not the call of his longtime patient. Thank God my prescription came in the mail today or I would have been hospitalized by now. I blame myself for not leaving me after the first time he left me in the lurch.
Dr. El (as he is nicknamed by his patients) is very good at listening to and understanding the patient's concerns and needs. He is not one of these 'take this pill - see you in 3 months' after a cursory examination MDs - he wants the best for those in his care. He will prescribe the appropriate treatment he deems necessary after making a thorough diagnosis. Not only that, he is a snappy dresser! :)
Dr. El is a very kind and caring person. He has always treated me with such respect and has proved that he is nothing but trustworthy. He is patient and always takes the time to listen and understand the issues that I am dealing with. I appreciate the time that he takes and how much he cares about the well being of his patients..

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
