I had a pretty good first and second appt with Dr. Grady. I was seeing a midwife as my medical provider, but needed to be referred out just for the ultrasounds as the midwife did not do these herself. Dr Grady had said that was fine and to let him know if I needed additional ultrasounds. I called to schedule one for 41 weeks once I passed my due date and the front desk person was incredibly rude, refused to schedule me an appointment (despite having a PCP referral, and basically accused me of not getting prenatal care. She stated she would ask Dr Grady if he would allow me to be seen there and call back. When I asked what I should do, she told me to "just go to urgent care or something". They of course didn't call back and when I called, spoke to a different woman at the front desk who talked to Dr. Grady, and said they would make an "exception" for me, but would not assume responsibility, and that I would have to pay in cash. She said they would not take my insurance any longer since I was too high risk! I am fairly certain this is both untrue and illegal.
I came to see Dr. Grady for the first time recently and he seems to be a very nice doctor. The office is very big and the environment was just really good. There are multiple doctors in the same office so make sure you go to the correct side when you go see the doctor. I really like the lady at the front desk. I forgot her name but she was really nice and helped me with many things. I would definitely come back to see Dr. Grady in the near future because he reassured me that I will be okay and helped me stay calm.
When I met Dr Grady I was having pain in my stomach and found out I had a large (9lb) fibroid in my uterus, I had a full hysterectomy done on 10/7/2020. I went home the next day because the night staff at the hospital was horrific (Arcadia Methodist ALLLLLLLLL thumbs down) and I was basically feeling ok (review on the hospital to come later). I went home 10/8/2020 but ended up calling 911 on 10/11/2020 due to excessive pain in my abdomen (right side) when I got to the emergency room Verdugo Hills Hospital (Love Love Love them) they found I had an infection in my stomach and said I needed to go back to the hospital where I had my surgery :(When I got back to the hospital Dr Grady came in to see me and basically said there was a bacteria in my stomach and the fluid was infected (on the left side) and even though I kept complaining about the right side he didnt listen, he couldn't tell me what happened how I got the bacteria or the infection in my stomach. The hospital admitted me and had to drain my stomach (left side) and waited 2 days but there was still massive pain on my right side so 3days in they looked again and found the fluid in my stomach on the right side this time so I had to have the right side drained (this procedure was almost as bad as child birth - not sure if it was because of the actual infection or them having to put a needle in my stomach to drain it).Dr Grady came back to see me after the 2nd draining but still had no answers for me, couldn't tell me what was going on while I was in the hospital or what the next steps were. He basically said the surgery itself went well and he wasn't sure about everything that needed to be done now. While talking to the other 3 Dr's on my case I found out that something (not sure what) but something happened during the surgery. Fluid was leaking from somewhere and since we didnt know how or from where it became infected and thus the pain. I had spoken to Dr Grady for over a year about the surgery and all he kept telling me was he does this all the time, he is used to doing these surgeries, he knows what he's doing (he didnt have the best people skills but thats not what I needed him for so I let that go). I am giving the Dr 2 stars because my scar healed really nice and I haven't had any issues since, had the fluid not appeared I would have gone home the day after a hysterectomy (which is basically unheard of) but I would still not refer him to anyone, I feel he is too cocky and although this is something he has done hundreds of times - there was a mistake made somewhere I will never know where but something went wrong and I know that him admitting it may have been something that would not happen but he was my surgeon and again something went wrong. I had to come home with a midline to insert antibiotics everyday for 30days and was also sent home with some major antibiotics to take by mouth. I had an MRI done, it was sent to Dr Grady he said it looked fine and after the 30days of antibiotics I should be ok. I was contacted about 2 weeks later by the Infectious Disease Dr asking if I had an MRI done because she had not seen it. I requested she be sent a copy, when she did see it she said there was still too much fluid on my stomach and I had to have another round of the antibiotics by mouth for another 2 weeks (yeah how did he not see that).I had a second MRI and although there was still a little fluid left the Infectious Disease Dr felt that I was safe from infection and told me to reach out to her if anything else comes up. I am unable to sleep on my back for too long because I still get a pain on my right side but other than that im here :)I saw a different Gynecologist for my 6week check up and she told me that sometimes fluid collections can happen after a hysterectomy. I feel that if Dr Grady had even said that I would have felt somewhat better.
Dr Grady delivered my second child at Methodist. I let him know from the start of the pregnancy that I wanted a birth without any medications or epidural and he was on board. He followed my birth plan and was extremely courteous. I am eternally grateful to Dr Grady!
Best OBGYN I could ask for, especially for my first full term pregnancy! From the beginning he always made sure I got the services I needed during my prenatal appointments, from prescribing me suppository, to sending me to my perinatal ultrasounds, to sending me to get lab work completed on time. He does an awesome job explaining the purpose of medications or lab work and avoids using medical jargon, which is a must for good patient communication. Due to a switch in insurance into my 3rd trimester, I missed 2 prenatal appointments and I was stressed out because I only wanted Dr. Grady to deliver my baby. The only option I had was to request to return to his office as a cash patient and he gladly took me in at 35 weeks! Other OBGYNS would have simply turned me away, but he didn't. At my 38 week prenatal appointment, my blood pressure skyrocketed and it was completely abnormal from my previous visits, so he made the decision to send me to Methodist Hospital to do bloodwork and find out what was going on. Over the course of 12 hours my blood pressure was dangerously high and believed it was best to induce me. After unsuccessful attempts to get me to dilate and have contractions, he went over the decision to have me deliver my baby via c-section and explained to me that I developed mild preeclampsia. Due to timing, I agreed out of the safety of my baby and I, he assured to me that everything would be okay and the baby would be in my arms sooner than expected! The surgery went well and he successfully delivered my baby, who was perfectly healthy! My original due date fell between October 24-28, but Dr. Grady delivered my son on October 15! I'm not sure what wouldve happened with me or my baby if Dr. Grady didn't make that call! During my stay at the hospital he checked up on me several times to see how I was recovering and to discharge me from the hospital; he also had me return to his office a week after delivery to get my staples removed. My entire journey with this pregnancy has been a rollercoaster, but I'm forever grateful that Dr. Grady was a huge part of it, I will be referring my family and friends to him in the future and will definitely come back if I ever have another baby! He really does go above and beyond for his patients!
Dr Grady did an amazing job helping us deliver our twins! We weren't sure who to turn to when we found out that we had twins. He and his staff made the process very smooth. They helped us answer questions and concerns. He goes above and beyond for his patients!
I hold this doctor in high regards.
Dr. Grady is very thorough and to the point. Awesome doctor, I would definitely recommend, who cares about his patients. I saw him years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter, as well as today for Women's stuff: hormone levels, etc. Dr. Grady took me on as a patient after meeting during an emergency hospital visit, later in my pregnancy, when I had a less than ideal OBGYN situation with my daughter. Most doctors will not do that. That's how you know he cares. I've now had good experiences with him for both sides of OBGYN care. His office staff is excellent. The front desk lady was super nice and helpful. The nurse, Blanca, was so kind and made me feel so comfortable. I didn't have access to a printer for my lab work, and she literally helped print it out for me. Talk about going above and beyond. I was so impressed with her and how kind and beyond friendly she was. The quality care aspect here is right on. Honestly, I normally prefer to see female doctors only, but Dr. Grady and the staff have made me feel so comfortable and safe, this office really is the exception.
Dr Grady has always been a great dr! I was pregnant in 2017 and dr Grady took me in at 30weeks! Straight to the point and also very calming. He delivered my baby and was amazing. Delivered with 3 pushes! I’m currently still going to him for my women check ups. Currently trying to conceive again and he will definitely be my dr again! Thank you dr Grady for all that you do!
I started out my prenatal care (up until 19 weeks) with Dr Grady at his San Gabriel office before switching to Kaiser for my first pregnancy. The doctor himself is good - professional and considerate. While I wish his appointments were a bit longer so there could be more of a conversation on prenatal care specifics (like I've experienced with my Kaiser OB), I recognize that his office is busy and that isn't a possibility. His staff can be a bit difficult. The problems started off small - issues with insurance codes, communication issues with the front desk attendant, etc. The most irritating, however was definitely after I had an amniocentesis procedure with a specialist (who the office referred me to). I was told Dr Gradys office would reach out to me with results in 10-12 days. Never got an update from them. I called Grady's office 14 days after the procedure and still nothing. I recognize that the timing delay isn't their fault, but amnio results are sensitive topics and instead of being kind and considerate, the staff member on the phone rushed to get me off the phone like I was being inpatient and told me to call the specialist (who I did call - and told that they never get amnio results and that they go directly to the OB). The whole thing left me so irritated and upset - I'm just trying to be proactive and understand my baby's health needs. His staff really needs to work on their professionalism and demeanor, especially when handling sensitive topics. Really glad to be going with Kaiser - my prenatal care experience has vastly improved.
