Soo is helping my 29 year-old special-needs son to manage anxiety and OCD. We’ve started a medication took it slowly and it seems to be really helping. So far so good!!
I am copying and pasting the complaint email I sent to the manager, everyone deserves to know the way I was treated and this so called doctor needs to be fired: I just had my very first appointment to get established as a new patient and I am disgusted at how I was treated. I called in to your office in tears and shaking after disconnecting from my session with Amanda Layman. I am only looking for a new psychiatrist because my current one who I love and adore unfortunately is no longer accepting my insurance as of this year. Amanda Layman treated me like I was a drug addict and making up my illnesses for a controlled substance within the first 10 minutes of our appointment. She should NOT be working with people who have ADHD. She treated me like a criminal without knowing me or my history in any capacity. And frankly, she did not care to know before making her assumptions about me. Her tone the ENTIRE call was rude and condescending. She in no way came off as a caring doctor. She even said that I was acting like other patients she has had who were difficult towards her and she’s been doing this for so long so she knows what she’s doing and she doesn’t care what I’ve done before or not. My prior psychiatrist NEVER had me do EKG tests, blood work, drug tests, etc and I told Amanda Layman that I have many health issues and I have had recent blood work and EKG done so I can get that for her but I asked how often the drug tests are? She immediately responds with “why? Is that going to be an issue?” And kept stating how I’m giving her “push back” when that is far from the truth. I responded with “how is it giving push back asking you a question about something I know nothing about?” In addition she also said I need to give her proof of my ADHD diagnosis which I was in the middle of responding with “That’s fine my prior psychiatrist is who diagnosed me so you can get that from their office or I can get that for you” and before I could even finish my sentence she cuts me off with “no we don’t get that for you, you need to do that, that’s YOUR homework”, why does she need to speak to patients this way? First, let me finish talking. Second, you can ask NICELY for me to get that for you. Her entire behavior and attitude was unacceptable and unprofessional. She, and your office, are extremely lucky that I am not suicidal because this call would have sent me into a spiral. Psychiatry is suppose to be GENTLE assistance with mental health, this interaction was entirely aggressive and unempathetic. I know these calls are always recorded, I implore you to watch the entire video chat. The call abruptly ended when we agreed we weren’t a good fit.
Roben was extremely professional and kindly supported my request for assistance in a timely manner. This in turn allowed us to coordinate in providing exceptional patient care.
I reached out to multiple psychiatrists in my area for cash pay pricing as I’m currently uninsured and marketplace insurance is not affordable. This clinic had the lowest cost for a first time appointment ($250) and follow up appointments ($150). When scheduling the appointment I told them I was looking to get back on stimulant ADHD medication and anxiety medication. During the initial appointment I was informed it was practice policy to have a lab drug screen done for stimulant prescriptions - something that I believe should have been told to me while scheduling the appointment due to my cash pay status. After the appointment and getting the lab slip I called the lab to check the cost and it was $450. When I got to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription it was $200.89 for a 2 week supply and they wouldn’t accept GoodRx like I told the NP I saw I intended to do due to my financial situation. I called the clinic back to cancel my follow up appointment and get a refund because they already charged my card even though I specifically request they wait until I figured out the cost of the lab test. I also requested that I be refunded for the $250 initial visit to which I was told the billing department would talk to the MA and NP and call me back. I have not heard from them since nor have I received the refund for the canceled follow up appointment, just a credit to my bank account from them showing as $0.00. NP was nice and professional; however, the hidden costs and unnecessary frustration due to their lack of communicating the additional hoops and costs has me now out of pocket $400 for a lab slip I can’t afford to have done and a prescription I can’t afford to pick up.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
