Terrible rushed service. They are not kid's friendly at all, and Money Sucker!!! Be award that they don't accept VSP vision insurance and if you have kids I would recommend going somewhere else. Thanks
Dr. knows her stuff
This past summer, around July, 2020, I made the huge mistake of ordering glasses from Lucy Yen. When they came they were the wrong model and did not fit. So I got my money back in October, which was a long arduous process with the credit card company. The credit card company, after ruling in my favor, allowed Dr. Yen 3 months to appeal the decision, but she didn't. Now today on March 16th, 2021, Lucy Yen has sent me multiple threatening and insulting emails and texts, one of which has an "invoice" for the glasses and stated that it has gone to "collections". Very distressing. Hopefully the police can resolve this tomorrow. A few minutes ago I tried to file a report online, but found that it has to be done over the phone between noon and 4pm Monday through Friday.
Avoid this place. Please read my comments below for reasons. Short Story: We received multiple confirmations from front desk staff "yes we are in network for VSP, you will get reimbursement later" and paid around $2600 for 3 pairs of glasses. Later it turns out that they are not in network. We went to the court and the judgement is that they should refund us. When I call them to collect, they just said "you can come, but you are not welcomed". We are still trying to figure out how to collect now. Long Story We visited this store on 10/08/2020. Before we started the eye exam, they confirmed that my insurance works and should cover, so my wife and I went ahead and did the eye exam. The service seems to be pretty good, the doctor was patient in answering all my questions. However after we select the lenses and frames, we were told that they will charge the full amount without insurance adjustment, so that's over $2000 for both of us, and they will file claim forms to the insurance company for us so we can get reimbursed by the insurance company later. This makes me feel suspicious because the stores I visited in the last few years usually will directly calculate the amount that I should pay based on my insurance policy, rather than asking me for the full amount. So we asked again, "are you sure you are in network?" The front desk staff seems to be confused so she went inside and talked to the doctor, and came back telling us "yes we are in network", "no worries, you are covered". So I went ahead and made the purchase. Overall we think the service was pretty good so we even recommended this place to our friends. On 10/29/2020, we went to the store to pick up the glasses. We were happy with the service so far and I ordered my second pair of glasses. Before I made the purchase, I asked again "are you sure you are really in network for VSP? this is a lot of money", the answer from the front desk staff was the same "yes we are in network". We left the store happily. On 11/3/2020, we received the explanation of benefits from my insurance company. It states that the store is not in network so I'm only eligible for out of network coverage. I felt suspicious so I called the insurance company to confirm. The insurance company said “they are not in network. we can file a complaint for you as it seems that they lied to you about it, but unfortunately we cannot do anything else". I reached out to Eye Luv Lucy immediately, they pretended to not understand what I'm talking about and kept telling me to "talk to the insurance company to get what you are supposed to be reimbursed. Our job is already done." They don't pick up my phone calls any more. Luckily they have a number to receive messages so I can still send the messages. On 11/6/2020, I sent messages indicating that if they don't offer a satisfactory solution, I might have to start writing negative reviews and think about going to court. On 11/7/2020, I received a phone call from their manager. The manager was very reasonable. He came prepared, with receipts for 3 pairs of glasses, with detailed calculations of how much I should get refunded as if they were in network. I'm happy with this resolution. The manager said he would communicate with the owner to decide, I should get a response within days. On 11/17/2020, they finally replied back to me with their decision. They said that “your insurance is responsible for reimbursing you. No one in our office claimed to promise that you paid zero even with with in network benefit. At this point, we can offer you credit toward 2 pairs of glasses that you paid forward as a courtesy”. I declined this resolution because I believe they lied to me about that they are in network, why should I cover the cost? The insurance company has no fault. Why should I continue to come to a store with no integrity? Final words Eye Luv Lucy, If you treat your customers fairly, they will keep coming, and introducing more customers. It seems that you do not share the same philosophy. That's fine. I would have to take whatever measures to defend myself.
Have been meaning to write this review since July! We were temporarily staying in San Jose at a VRBO while in transition to moving out of state and I needed to get an eye exam asap before we left. I had driven by and seen Eye Luv Lucy and what a cute name! I made an appointment immediately. They are super friendly and professional. I had given them my insurance card and had no idea that it was not up to date/valid. They never said a word, didn't put me through the embarrassment. I only found out when I was getting lenses later at a store. Apparently, they just gave me a discount in lieu of lack of insurance. Talk about NICE! All their equipment is state of the art. Dr. Lucy actually found that my glass prescription was too strong. Finally, a diagnosis that had me seeing clearly. Previously, I had gone to two optometrists that could not get it right. If I lived there, I would continue to go see them for regular check ups.
i was there for c&p exam. "photophobia can be related to in-service head injury that caused one to be extra sensitive to light but there was no evidence show that it was strictly related to service as photophobia can be develop post service due to increased use of computer screens and lack of sun protections."well, she had no evidence to show it was stricklty related to service, but she had evidence to show post service increased sue of computer screens and lack of sun protections.to my best imaginations, she probably there with me after i got out, but still i don't have any job required using computer, or any other screen work. also i don't know how the sun get into my house, since i am housebound.if you are there for c&p, my best advice is here.
Updates about the story: We went to the court and the judgement is that they should refund us around $2000. When my wife called them to collect, they just said "the doctor is angry and does not want to talk". "You can come, but you are not welcomed" @_@We are still trying to figure out how to collect the money now. It's a complicated process. So again, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. One lesson I learned from this is to ALWAYS READ ONE STAR REVIEWS BEFORE GOING: if it is something just like "they are very rude, they let me wait for xx minutes after my appointment slot", that's probably a minor issue; otherwise, stay away please! You can read my previous comments for the full story. Some numbers: We paid $2600 originally for the eye exams, 2 frames and 3 pairs of lenses; we should have paid around $400 if they were in network for VSP. VSP reimbursed me for about $400 for out of network coverage. The court judgement was that Eye Luv Lucy should refund us around $2000.
I had a fantastic experience over at ELL. First off, I had scanned multiple optometrists in the area trying to find a style that suited me. I like square black-rimmed glasses with a prominent look, but all I found everywhere was Ray Bans and Lacostes. I'd occasionally run into someone carrying Heliums or another but it just wasn't enough variety. I stumbled upon here and immediately ran into their collection of William Morrises, which looked great and fit like a charm. However, there was no telling how they'd fit once I got them with the actual prescription glasses, so I hoped for the best. When I got them, I was very pleasantly surprised. The issue that I've struggled with for years is that these type of glasses always slip off my nose bridge since they do not tend to have nose pads (and having an oily nose does not help). Over the years, I've had my glasses tightened and loosened ad infinitum, I've put heat shrink tape on the temples, used random products like nerdwax, and eventually just gotten used to pushing my glasses up my nose every 1 minute. These ones just stay put, they fit great and it's been an excellent life change. They were pricey, but worth it (and insurance covered about 33% of it). ELL front desk was transparent and not one bit pushy through the process.
Came here for my VA eye exam. Wait time was less than 15mins. Great location. Front staff is very accommodating and professional. Dr. Lucy has great bed side manner and treated me with respect. Although it was a Va thorough examination. I felt as if she really cared about my well being and offered me treatment options for my conditions. If only if her office is a lot closer to where I live. I would definitely come here often for my eye exam. I definitely recommend her. Other docs would normally rush through the exam and don't give a full explanation of what is being done.
Beautiful decor. GREAT service by all the staff. FAST and so friendly.
