List of Harsha Vittal's Reviews
I'm horrified with Dr Vittal's bedside manner. In my first visit, he crossed his arms and says " What do you want me to do about it?" This said after I described my symptoms and what I've done so far to fix myself. He then goes on to blame each supplement I take and my mental health for my problems. He should not be allowed to interact with patients, especially those like me who were hoping a Dr could help. I've lost all hope with western medicine.
I agree with the review from Isaac D, "All the other negative reviews are spot on." I would not recommend him or his team. There are many other Gastroenterologist in the area before considering him or his team.
Just had procedure done with Dr. Vittal. He was very courteous and listened to my concerns during my first visit. Dr. Vittal explained what was happening in language I can understand. He checked in with me before and after the procedure. I even received prompt correspondence from his office a couple of days after the procedure. Thank you!
Still a 1 star, just updating because that dm us if you need help I a load of bull$&@. They don't care, they see you as a money bag. I reached out to Sutter and was denied seeing anyone else. I switched to another healthcare provider and got the level of service I needed the same day. Hope I'm fine and this was not negligence on their end. They tried to tell me I'm deny help, no I am demanding my rights as a consumer to be served at a level of service that is reasonable. No stool sample, no scans, and rude admins, a rude doctor, and a lot of fluff words to tell me to ignore the problem and it'll get better until I'm either too sick to work a desk job, or dying. Hope you have any other healthcare then Sutter where they want to use you as a money bag and nothing else.
The Doctor saw me for 10-15min top. Said the low fodmap diet was only a theory so eat whatever you want. Pressed on my stomach for a quick sec, no stool sample, no scans. Insisted I just get more exercise and that I needed to stop drinking. Problem is I drink maybe a drink with not at big event as it is and it's been 6 months of no alcohol, higher fiber, more exercise, better sleep, no smoked or overly spicy/fatty/salty foods, with a healthy diet and I just threw up from eating some small portion of potatoes, salad, and 6 oz of chicken. Go literally anywhere else, unless you want to be in mild to severe pain for half a year with refusal to a stool sample or scan, just all gas no brakes into a colonoscopy. As I was leaving my brief 10min why did I even come in here to be charged for a vist. I was trying to ask him if we could do any test or scans on my stomach issues since I've never had any health issues. He basically threaten to go straight to putting tubes and pipes through my body saying no this happens all the time people just get bad gas and if I had any issues a month from now we'd have to put tubes through my body. I would gladly do that if he explained on why we wouldn't start with a simple stool sample or scan that would be a lot more comfortable and less jarring. I'm paying an arm and a leg for this mistreatment so I'm literally leaving my medical plan with Sutter because of this bull. If he ever reads these he needs to start seeing patients as people and not be numb to our pain. You may deal with people who have bad gas here and there, but if it was your own family in pain you'd want to check as soon as possible and not throw them into a surgery that isn't pleasant right away. But judging from my experience and the many on here, he probably just doesn't give much thought to any of this and is too worried about getting out of meeting patients as fast as possible. If Sutter reply's to this I know they don't really care cause I asked for another specialist to see me and they said the fastest they could get me someone was may and I should really just go back to this guy after I explained my situation. It was the first day of February and I had been asking to see a new specialist since Early Dec. Sutter was the worst medical experience in my life, get different medical providers if possible.
All the other negative reviews are spot on.Literally His Daddy was G.I so he most likely grew up as a spoiled little rich kid, who followed in daddies footsteps obviously only for the money, not because he cares, because he doesn't and it's obvious. So if you want a doctor whose been looking down at people his whole life, and even more so now...than by all means pick him. If you want a doctor that treats you like a human and not an ATM machine look elsewhere
Beware. This physician is dangerous. His first biopsy failed due to lack of tissue, so another biopsy had to be performed. He used the wrong material: plastic stent instead of a metallic stent. And the worst part is the stent migrated in 24-48 hours which caused a blockage of the bile duct and a life threatening infection of cholangitis, which resulted in my mom being hospitalized for one week. The endoscopy was also the wrong size which irritated the esophagus. The best decision we made was going to Stanford where they did the procedure again using the appropriate stent. How is this physician certified - his license should be revoked immediately.
Dr. Vittal was rude and arrogant. I hope one day soon he'll realize that kindness and compassion go a long way in helping a patient feel comfortable and at ease. Head knowledge is good, but a good personality with some humility and genuinely caring is what makes a doctor great.
I came to Dr. Vital after my GI retired. He was very thorough, listened, and I was immediately impressed. He and his staff were enjoyable to deal with. No hesitation in seeing him again.
Went yesterday for a first time consultation with Dr. Vittal and I left utterly disappointed. He greeted me and asked me what my problem was and as soon as I begin to explain to him, immediately I could tell he was checked out. His eyes were half closed, slumped down in his chair slowly nodding at me but not very engaged. I can only imagine he sees a lot of patients, might work long hours, tired... etc., but he didn't show a genuine interest or care. It felt as if I was a problem he was quickly trying to get rid of any which way. I don't doubt his knowledge or ability, but it was his dismissive, arrogant, assuming attitude I did not care for. Don't expect warmth or time from Dr. Vittal. He asked me to get on the operatory bed, touched my stomach for 2 seconds and then he propped me back up. That was as much testing as I got from a "specialist", anybody could have done that. When I expressed my issues have been present since childhood, he said "that's how you're wired, you're system moves slower". So you're telling me there's nothing I could do to aid my slow moving gut? That's why I'm here. If that's really the case, then my family doctor could have told me that. When I said I came in hopes for a diagnosis, he said "if you're looking to put a name on it, that doesn't exist"... I almost had to run to the front of the office just to check the sign at the door and make sure I was at a specialist's office. At one point, I expressed that I had put on some weight during the past year in pandemic, to which he quickly suggests I need to eat less and exercise more. Had he asked me if I'm currently doing anything to lose weight, I would have happily shared with him that I have been tracking macros and calories and walk 3 miles every day and in fact I have been losing weight in the past month. But again, he doesn't have time. He's quick to assume and dismiss. You're not important to him, just another number. So if you go see Dr. Vittal, expect this kind of treatment. It was a waste of my time and I felt like I was a waste of his. What a shame. If he only had a little more compassion and interest in his patients. Stay far away from him, don't waste his time. But most importantly, don't waste yours.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
