Mark R. Mandel's Online Review Report Card

I couldn't recommend Dr Mandel and his staff more. I recently had Lasik, and the whole process was so simple. The packet that the office sends before the procedure, and the videos that are provided, answer any question that may arise about the process of Lasik. The staff is very welcoming, very thorough and answer any and all questions. The actual procedure was efficient, and I knew without a doubt I was in great hands. If you're considering Lasix, this is the Provider to use!

You may be a good Dr but you run the equivalent of a stockyard taking too many patients and being totally disrespectful of your patients and care givers time. "Appointments" (4 so far) each run over 2 hours. All involve hours of waiting and a few minutes of care. I've never had to wait for any Dr as long as your office. Clearly your practice is more about $$. No problem with the medicine but I want your patients to know they are signing up for extreme frustration and hours of waiting. Take a few less patients and show some more caring.

I was referred to Dr. Mark Mandel by my optometrist office (shameless plug for Saratoga Vision Center...they are a fantastic group/office) and was told that they have an exclusive relationship with Dr. Mandel - and for good reason.From the moment I set up the appointment, there was a very succinct, transparent, and PERFECTED process that ensured I was provided ample information, absolute care for my safety, and an air-tight procedure that would benefit my eyes and their health in the aggregate.Dr. Mandel met with me during the consultation, and it was obvious from his demeanor as well as his staff, that I was receiving the best care possible. He is a consummate professional and had such a calming presence that really put me at ease for an arguably terrifying procedure. I was quite overwhelmed and anxious leading up to my consultation because of the fact that your sight, like all of your other senses, play an integral role in your life. You don't want to muck about.All of those fears were quelled and removed entirely after my consultation as well as on the procedure day itself.On the day of the procedure, I arrived in the office to be greeted by several very lovely front desk staff who, once again, walked me through the steps of the procedure as well as the post-op regiment very patiently and carefully, making sure I knew every portion. They then handed me a blue bag containing a pair of sunglasses, a place to hold all of your medications, and a stress ball to cling on to in the operating room in case you have any anxiety. I cannot overstate how much care they show throughout the entire process.After the operating room was prepped, I was gently ushered in and laid down on the table for the procedure. Everyone in the operating room was just as warm, courteous, and caring as the front desk staff. The fluidity and experience of all of the staff in the room, as well as Dr Mandel, was palpable. To my surprise, I immediately felt at ease. As Dr. Mandel began, he talked me through his actions and assured me that everything was going excellently, which it was.The procedure itself was complete within minutes! It was ABSOLUTELY painless! The only "painful" part was when they had to remove the tape that held my eyelashes away from my eyes.Upon completing the procedure I was congratulated on my "new" eyes and went through a final checkup post-op before I went home and began my post-op care with guidance and checkups from my usual optometrist. You can elect to go back to Dr. Mandel's office for these checkups if you wish!I am writing this 9 days post-op (Dr. Mandel and I decided on the PRK procedure), and my optometrist and I cannot believe the changes to my vision. I wake up every morning giggling that I can finally see so remarkably well! The best part is PRK really sets in over six months, so I have so much to look forward to!I cannot thank Dr. Mandel and his incredible staff enough! Undergoing this surgery with him and his team is one of the best decisions I've made in my life. If you're contemplating this procedure, and you're reading this review, I hope it helps drive home that you've found the best place to receive your surgery and care. I can confirm why he is known as "The Doctor's Doctor."

I am in my 50s and had cataract surgery for both of my eyes recently. After the surgery, my vision is 20/20. After failing the DMV vision test before the surgery, I'm like a newborn again. I am glad that I chose to pay extra money to have multifocal lenses, so now I don't have to wear glasses or contact lenses. I strongly recommend Dr. Mark Mandel to do the surgery.

Dr. Mandel’s entire office was extremely professional and efficient. I especially recommend them for cataract surgery.They went out of their way to answer all of my questions and made sure I was comfortable with their plans.

I was nervous just before arriving at my scheduled surgery, but everyone involved in my procedure made me feel so comfortable and the atmosphere was calming. I loved the light music playing during my procedure. The anesthesiologist was very attentive and caring. I am so thankful I had this done. My results have exceeded my expectations. I was referred to Dr. Mandel for LASIK. Before making my decision to move forward with the procedure, his office sent over documents and videos for me to watch. This was very helpful in my decision. He recommended the PRK procedure based on the condition of my eyes and activities that I plan on participating in. The way that he goes about PRK is different from what I saw on YouTube from people who had this procedure, and I am very happy on how he goes about doing this procedure. What I saw on YouTube were people who had extreme pain 3 days after the procedure, but I did not have any after mine. I think this is due to the care and his pre- and post-op routine!! I had my Right eye corrected on Dec. 2 and just had my left eye corrected on Jan 3. The Right eye is almost at 20/20, and I cannot wait for my Left eye to reach the same. The staff at both the San Jose and Castro Valley offices were amazing. They made the process effortless. I highly recommend Dr. Mandel for LASIK/PRK surgery!!!
