Monica Nguyen's Online Review Report Card

This is our second year with Dr Nguyen. She is kind and thorough - I have had great success with my prescriptions. Her office staff is very polite as well. After coming from a very large office in Frisco I truly appreciate the more personal attention.

I've been a faithful patient of this eye Dr for years. I saw her in June and had a lot of vision changes due to inflammation that she said I had. She wrote my RX based on that inflammation. She said to take the rx eye drops and that in a week she was sure my vision would be better. My vision was grainy, NOT blurry. She said after a week to contact her if I was not better. So I did. By the means in which she asked, through email. She never responded. At all. So I called. They told me I had to come in to speak with her or email only. I told them I live 400 miles away and couldn't stop in and that she was not responding to any of my emails. So, she got on the phone and answered all my questions. Then she emailed me an RX for xiidra. I could not afford the RX as it was $600. The coupon is only for people with insurance which I don't have. My eyes got 100% better so I needed a new RX. I called to make an appt to get it adjusted. They told me it was past the 30 days but that they'd overlook any charges because it was due to inflammation. Being 400 miles away I had to see when I could make a trip for the appt. I was finally able to and made an appt. They told me in the meantime to get otc readers. I tried. I don't know what to look for despite what they said to get. So I just got what I thought was it and it didn't work. So I used my old rx glasses which worked but not fully. They called a few days before my appt and told me that I would have to pay. I said I don't understand that and will if I need to and asked why it changed. I was fine with the change but told them they shouldn't tell someone something then change it. They gave me such a hassle but I confirmed with them that she would indeed adjust my RX. I said are you sure? I'm driving 400+ miles for this appt I don't want to drive all that way and y'all change it once I'm there. But guess what? That's exactly what happen. First the receptionist stated that since I said my old rx was working she'd write an rx for that again. I said no, she said she would check the inflammation level and adjust my rx accordingly. So she went to the eye Dr and came back and said that she'd ONLY check my inflammation levels but not adjust my rx. When I'd ask why she would not even answer. When I ask if she was going to answer she told me she's not doing it because I refused to use the rx eye drops, refused to get the otc glasses and refused to use my old rx that I "verified" worked. I said first, I didn't refuse to use the rx drops, I couldn't afford them. Second, I tried to get the otc and didn't know what to do. Third, my old rx worked enough however they aren't correct. My new ones aren't correct and neither are my old ones. I need a new rx, is she going to adjust my rx or not? The receptionist just sat there staring at her computer screen. So I asked again, again, I asked several times. Asked if there was a reason she wasn't answering. I asked what reason she had not to help me. I asked what I did to warrant refusal for help. That she's the Dr that's what she's there for is to help. I told her I drove 400 miles that I could have seen any Dr in my area. She just sat there silent. Refused to answer anything I asked. I finally said we'd take our business elsewhere (my husband also had an appointment). I asked one last time what reason I had not to be helped. I don't understand the rudeness and refusal to answer my questions. I wasn't being rude or raising my voice. I said I'd be yelping and putting this on Facebook and that's exactly what I'm here doing. I've been a loyal patient to this Dr driving 400 miles for 3 years and was her patient many years before my move. To be done this way is unprofessional and unacceptable. I was able to get an appt with another eye dr and sure enough my old old rx that I was told to use was OFF and the newer rx was WAY OFF. It was indeed too strong and my super old glasses not strong enough. I guess she just couldn't admit she made such a HUGE mistake.

Front desk told me they'd accept my insurance over the phone and there would be no charge. Fast forward two weeks I get to my appointment and the girl at the front told me they'd only give me 20% off my visit and was VERY RUDE and condescending because I was confused as to why I'd have to pay when I'd never had to before for a routine eye exam. Never actually spoke to it saw the doctor so I can't speak about her but will not be back because the rude receptionist.

Always love going to see Dr Nguyen. Kind and helpful, and the staff is knowledgeable and customer service oriented. Been coming here for nearly 10 years and will continue to as long as I'm here!

I felt rushed and like this was the fast food of eye care. I was coming in to get contacts for the first time ever. We tried 4 pairs before one pair seemed to allow me to see. The next 2 days I started having headaches and called to see if I could get re-examined. I was told there was nothing they could do for me but to refund me 1/2 of my payment (60.00) because the doctor gave me an eyeglasses prescription as a courtesy. Needless to say, I now have to go back to square one. Very disappointed in care and customer service.

Dr. Nguyen is so very sweet & she really cares about her patients. I only go to her & so does all my family. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Nguyen is a phenomenal optometrist. She is extremely knowledgeable in eyecare and truly cares about your health. I've been wearing contacts and glasses for 20 years and Dr. Nguyen has been one of my very favorite optometrists. Courteous, professional and personable, she takes time to discuss your issues with you. Office staff was polite and on top of their game. I highly recommend Dr. Monica Nguyen and she is now my go to optometrist.

I been seeing Dr. Nguyen for about 4 years now. I fully trust her with our family eye care. She is a good listener and takes the time to answer every question we have.She really makes sure we are happy with every prescription we get and gives us many options regarding contacts until we are totally satisfied. We had an emergency with our daughter and she fitted us in immediately when we most needed. Easy scheduling .
