Barry Eibschutz's Online Review Report Card

I've been seeing Dr. Eibschutz for about 4 years now. He was quick to diagnose my scleroderma after months of my not knowing what was going on, and he proceeded with treatments for the disease's myriad symptoms. Having a serious autoimmune disorder is very intimidating. Dr. Eibschutz has shown concern and compassion throughout my ordeal, which has been a blessing for me and my (always worried) husband. I think he may not specialize in scleroderma as he might other autoimmune issues, but he has provided thoughtful and informed care. He has referred me to the specialists at UCLA and I know he'll work closely with them in handling by case. I've read the negative reviews on this site, and I can relate to some of the frustrations. Rheumatology care is in high demand, and this area hasn't the range of expertise that is available in urban regions. I'm confident Dr. Eibschutz's office does its best to meet the area's needs.

Referred by my primary doctor. Given the fact there are few rheumatologists in SLO Co I patiently waited 4.5 months to get an appointment. I had 2 blood panels & an X-ray of my hands which were to be shared with the doctor. Having seen a hand surgeon (cortisone shot & cyst on knuckle drained) one month before my Eibschutz appointment, I had specific questions to ask about my arthritis. He looked at ...

Dr. Eibschutz will get lab tests and imaging going for you, but that's about it. I was diagnosed with several issues that are really negatively impacting my quality of life but when I ask what I could or should be doing about them I get a blank stare. Crickets. Having to seek other physicians to get more information, follow-up, and support. Front desk employees are somewhere between unhelpful and outright rude. Not thrilled with this office but too few choices in town at the moment.

Very thorough and good doctors. Informed me of diagnosis and will continue to help me with Raynauds syndrome.

I’ll start by saying the front desk is amazing and has been so patient. I moved from San Diego recently where i am established with Scripps and still telemedicine with various specialists and PCP. However, having the rheumatologist local was important to me considering flareups and what not. I pleaded with them to consider taking me in as my rheum (whom he knows) had a stroke and I really needed to be seen. For 3 months i have been going through the process of getting documents over so this Dr. can finally see me. But now he is requesting l get a local PCP as if he is the only specialist I see. This was previously known, so not sure why prolong the hassle if it was an upfront requirement. It is my prerogative who I choose as a primary and much rather stick with the team of doctors that have been with me for 8 years now. I wont throw my whole care regimen for a loop bcs he requires a local doctor in an era of telemedicine and excellent care no matter where you are. Not to mention, it takes months to even go in and see a new doctor. This guy may be good but very rigid, lacks compassion and behind on the times. I just wasted 3 months of my time where I could have seen someone else by now.

Having an osteoporosis diagnosis for almost 7 years no doctor ever bothered to check my parathyroid levels but Dr. Eibshcutz. He referred me to Stanford to an excellent surgeon who successfully removed what was necessary. I am so thankful to have found Dr. Eibschutz and looking forward to improving even more under his great care. Yes, it took several months to get in but I was persistent. I believe the office has now resolved this issue as it is much easier to communicate now.

Dr. Eibschutze and his staff are a poorly run clinic with less than compassionate care. I am now being taken care of by USC and under treatment. As it turns out, my case is a bit complicated but nothing a rheumatologist couldn’t handle. I think he could have been more helpful and compassionate. Maybe he is just happy with his infusion center and doesn’t care or need to help anyone else. I wasted and suffered for almost one year because of him and his staff.

The office is hard to get a hold of. They don’t return calls. The dr denied my referral and didn’t give a reason why. Definitely go elsewhere for care, not happy at all Update: my referral and labs show something autoimmune going on that needs to be investigated further. They asked me to do labs and they further proved something was going on. They then took two weeks to review them and came up with that excuse. I work in healthcare and I know the process. That’s a month when I could’ve been looking elsewhere for care. It was a waste of my time but thankfully I can afford to travel and am going to another dr with ucla who will actually investigate further.

Dr. Eibschutz diagnosed and treated my condition properly and professionally. He was kind, caring, and generous. He is a fine doctor. His staff on the other hand are rude, dishonest, and seem to feel they dont need to treat patients the same way their employer does. I was lied to, phone calls not returned, and completely ignored. They treated pharmacies the same way. Unbelievable and unprofessional!

Was given a physical exam, and Dr. Eibschutz ordered several tests and said explicitly that we would discuss my situation and tests the next time we met. There was NO next time. When I called to make a 2nd appointment, I was told by a member of his staff to return to my family doctor, who, in turn, was as puzzled as I regarding what Eibschutz's opinion/diagnosis was of 'my situation'. Bizarre experience to say the least!
