List of Phillip Kissel's Reviews
I love Dr. Kissel, who is the most caring, respectful and knowledgeable Neurosurgeon around! He truly cares about his patients. He's helping me currently with septated fluid in my left Petrous Apex. He really knows how to make a person feel comfortable with brain issues. Also, Dr. Kissel saved my mom's life in an emergency 10 hour surgery years ago along with Dr. Segal; they both worked on her. Thank you, Dr. Kissel! You ARE the best!
Dr. Kissel was a very charismatic, helpful doctor before surgery. Had a microdiscectomy and laminectomy in cervical spine due to radiculopathy. One of 5 herniated discs had extruded putting pressure on my radial nerve in an already narrowed spinal column. I had lost motor function and feeling in my arm and hand in a matter of days and was in excruciating pain. After the surgery, although the severe pain has gone down, I still have pain and numbness in the side of my face, swelling on and around the base of my scull and debilitating headaches along with changes in hearing. After two incompetent 3 minute phone calls as follow up at 3 and 6 weeks and a year of calling his office and being dismissed with statements like, "It has nothing to do with your neck," I have finally received a referral to a neurologist- from my OB. In OB's examination he assured me that a numb face and debilitating pain is not normal and needs evaluation. I see a neurologist tomorrow and hope to have some clarity.
Outstanding surgeon. Explains all of your options in detail in an extremely caring manner. Have had two surgeries with him and recommend him highly.
Does CalPoly know about the electric magnetic frequency shield fencing that keeps the A.I.'s out? What about Marcel Lopez? Is he dead or alive? What about his children? Do you know he is going to create a major law suit and he wants to appoint Ms. Shelby Dart because of what happened to her, her copy, and what they did to him and made him drive to her to get to Ellaine?
This man was so rude after he and his side-kick(who has retired- thank God!) got ahold of my husband and basically ruined his lower back! My husband's whole spine collapsed. He ended up going to UCSF and that's a whole other story. Dr. Kissel needs to follow Dr. Harron's lead and retire!! Beware!
Dr. Kissel has been a lifesaver to me and my family (almost no hyperbole in that statement at all). I had been suffering for months with severe sciatica and the related agony and disability that comes with it. After a brief initial visit with another back specialist, I was immediately referred to Dr. Kissel’s office for surgery consultation. I was rushed into the office within days and I was cleared for a microdiscectomy procedure almost immediately afterwards. I was in the hospital having my procedure only a week later. His staff did a wonderful job of pushing my case through insurance which is notorious for dragging their feet on this kind of procedure. So I am very grateful to them as well. Long story short, I was operated on, and immediately my symptoms were all but gone. I am still in recovery and Dr. Kissel told me to expect some setbacks along the recovery road, but I feel so much better already. Dr. Kissel has a wonderful bedside manner and he describes procedures and answers questions in a very frank and straightforward manner. And he treats you with the respect and sympathy one deserves when suffering debilitating back problems. His staff, as I mentioned above is second to none, as well. I would, and will recommend Dr. Kissel to anyone who may need back or spine surgery in the future.
Hi Dr Kissel performed a cervical fusion surgery on me in 2015.appoxamately one month after my surgery I suffered an ischemic stroke. the neuro doctor at Cottage Hospital told me it was caused by the neck surgery. MyCarotid artery was damaged during the neck surgery.i have not spoken too or heard from Dr kissels office since that time. TRUE STORY!!!
A true professional!
Can’t recommend highly enough. Fixed my back and gave me quality of life again. Great person and surgeon!!
I was seriously attacked in 2015, trauma to my head, my skull was breached and I had a subdural hematoma. No one could believe I was alive. I was working for the county and had heard of Dr. Kissel from co-workers who RAVED about him. So when the ambulance arrived, the doors opened and Dr. Kissel introduced himself, I was so relieved. Everyone that I knew who worked in the medical field, asked who my doctor was and expressed such relief that it was Dr. Kissel. Friends and family told me of how he was treated like a rock star in the hospital hallways. I had a complete recovery with a small titanium plate on my skull and am able to play pickleball and racquetball as well as ever. My balance... I dodged an arrow and someone said it looked like I made matrix moves! It's been 6 years and I'm grateful to God and Dr. Kissel for every day I'm alive. Haha, I still talk too much tho :)

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
