This review is more about the practice than about Dr. Vendegna. These folks can be so much better than they are. The practice has 6 specialists supported by 3 PA's. Unfortunately service breaks down with the front-line support staff. I found that the assistants (not the PA’s) are either inept or they just don’t care. Between 1/15/20 and 4/27/20 I made 8 calls to the doctor’s assistants 7 of which were not returned. Critical issues were delayed or ignored. I waited 2 months to get an appointment at CCCC and I finally got to spend 20 minutes with Dr. Vendegna. Dr. Vendegna seems like a nice person but I never really got to experience any doctoring with him. He referred me to UCSF and after multiple calls to the assistant to get them to follow through with the referral I found UCSF to be very helpful. I should note that Claudia Franke, PA and Tracy (breathing tests) were very professional and helpful. I wish these folks the best and I hope that they can improve.

Dr. Vendegna is great. He's attentive, asks questions, explains test results. His employees that actually administer the tests are also excellent. However his office staff is unbelievably inadequate, inefficient and somewhat rude. There's no follow-thru.

This review is not so much for Dr. Vendegna as for the management of Central Coast Chest Consultants. It is very difficult to communicate with this practice outside of an office visit. They have a two-hour lunch, close early in the afternoon, and if their front desk is busy, you are shunted to voice mail. Messages left by phone or on the patient portal are not always responded to in a timely fashion. Record-keeping appears faulty, and one gets different stories depending on whom one talks to.

Always very prepared for appointments. He orders lab tests ahead of time and reviews them so he is familiar with my current condition. His staff is efficient and pleasant and I am admitted pretty much on time to my appointments. He made a difficult diagnosis for me. He is very kind and attentive while being very professional.

I went to a different Dr. For 15 years & never improved. I started with Dr Vandegna less then 1 year ago, He changed my drugs, put Me on a nebulizer & I feel like a different woman. He knows his business. Thank You dr Vandegna.

Feel very comfortable with Dr. Vendegna and his staff. He has a lot of knowledge about COPD and asthma related symptoms. We feel lucky we have him for a doctor.
