I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Metkus, who did a breast biopsy for me. Not only did the actual procedure at Mills Peninsula in San Mateo go smoothly--she was efficient (I assume, since I was clearly not awake for it, lol :-) But I'm also basing this review on my follow-up office visit with her--again she was kinda like a "robosurgeon" (you'll know the reference if you ever watched that Robocop movie. I mean this in a good way. She was kind, brief, and succinct, kept things to the point. She also recommended a certain type of homeopathic cream (I think it's homeopathic), which was designed to reduce or make the operation scar vanish. This is did not do, but that was not her fault at all? Because how was she to know that I cheloid? She also, did my mother's DCIS surgery, and my mom also had a completely positive experience with her. There are many excellent surgeons around for women, and I think Dr. Metkus is one of the best there is, based not only on the m,ultiple people (physicians and patients) who have referred me to her, but also based on my and my Mom's experience with her.

Due to procedure done by Dr Metkus im experiencing distress and as the result of her incompetent after care, I've been spending thousand of dollars out of pocket and trying to heal for over 6 months. Horrible experience

Horrible experience, I would never recommend her to anyone. Unprofessional and incompetent with after care. Please do not let them manipulate you into procedures you do not need and will suffer as the result. It's all about money as some procedures extremely expensive. My breast cancer diagnoses were shocking as it was random. I would never imagine doctors like Dr Metkus exist, my life has been a nightmare as the result of her involvement.

I just passed my 3rd mammogram after Dr. Metukus removed my right breast cancer via lumpectomy. I was 88 years old and had given up having mammograms around 10 years before. I had a mastectomy of my left breast in 1985 - at that time lumpectomies were new and my then surgeon and I decided a mastectomy was more reliable. Although I ended up not having to have chemo or radiation after that surgery, it would have been perfect for a lumpectomy and I would have avoided a great deal of pain. I am still having mammograms since the lumpectomy of an early detected cancer, in my opinion, is a piece of cake. I survived the 6 weeks of radiation and am still cancer free, thanks to Dr. Metkus. I highly recommend her. I just passed my 91st Birthday.

I had emergency surgery performed by Dr. Metkus and she was outstanding. She answered all my questions, did a fantastic job and I'm feeling great now!

I met Dr. Metkus in April of 2016. Not only did she remove my breast tumor via lumpectomy which fortunately was beginning of stage 2 and had not spread, she also saved my life when I entered the ER in May of 2016 after my second round of chemotherapy. My colon had perforated and she was the 'on-call' general surgeon at Peninsula this day in May 2016. She took action immediately ...drained me of life threatening Sepsis and literally saved my life. She was great destiny for me and I can state with complete confidence and knowledge she is a uniquely special surgeon and extremely skilled. I love her demeanor, honest, forthright, and kind. I am returning for a double masectomy as I tested positive for BRCA 2 and want to be preventative in my approach.You will not be dissapointed in her skill, expertise and capability. She is tops and much like Allstate....your in good hands. :)

Dr Metkus, before I met you today... I was feeling sad, alone and so scared about breast cancer. My fear remains as I do not know what the future holds for me but after meeting you today, I dont feel alone anymore. You were there for me as well as Jennifer, explaining me with compassion and professionalism the road that we will follow. Dr Metkus, we dont know each others but you need to know what an extraordinary impact you had on me, I dont feel alone anymore, this is how powerful you are. Dr Metkus defines; kindness ; thoughtfulness; intelligence ; experienced; honest, patient, considerate, Adorable and beautiful with great bed side manners. Thank you for caring for my mom Rebeca ; I could not have asked for a better doctor and surgeon. You helped her get over her fear, to cope with her breast cancer, you gave her reassurance & hope. Almost a year ago after her surgery, I will never forget how happy my mom was, her eyes full of joyful tears and relieve when she saw you as she kissed your healing hands. Dr. Metkus has OUTSTANDING bedside manners. Took time to review my ultrasound results, answered any and all questions. I was beyond impressed with her care and concern.
