I am getting married in a few months and trying to get my face ready!! I went to Dr Chen for Microneedling PRP aka Kim K's Vampire Facial, highly touted by celebrities, and for good reason!!! If you aren't familiar what that is, I'll outline the key steps. 1. A small vial of blood is taken from your arm 2. The blood is put it into a centrifuge (a spinning device that separates your blood into sections based on density, to separate the PRP - platelet rich plasma, all the good stuff that helps your body repair when you get a paper cut, for example) 3. A specialized needle/pen is used to create thousands of tiny, controlled, micro "injuries" on your face/neck. 4. Finally, your body's own healing factors are able to penetrate these channels to stimulate your body to repair, create new collagen, and reveal much more beautiful, smooth, repaired, young skin! PREP Be sure to properly hydrate 24 hours before. This will help maximize the amount of PRP retrieved. The assistant took photos of my face for the "Before" and then my blood pressure multiple times to ensure nothing was out of the ordinary. She then applied numbing cream to my face to prep for the microneedling. It started to take effect in about 10 minutes. DURING Because of the numbing cream, I honestly didn't really feel anything. I also had cotton balls placed in my hears to help with the sound of the microneedling device. Dr. Chen checked on me multiple times during the process to ensure I was okay. I asked him to turn up the intensity of the needle multiple times to get maximum results (haha). If I had to describe it, it felt very similar to microdermabrasion - like a small, spiky metal ball being rolled across my face. In the areas that Dr. Chen had just covered with the microneedling device, the assistant was dripping my PRP onto my face. The entire procedure was about 20 minutes. AFTER I was sent home with a special serum mixed with my leftover PRP (which I thought was so cool), which I applied multiple times the rest of the day until I finished the container. I was also given a sheet mask for that evening before bed. No need to wash your face the night of your procedure. RECOVERY As expected, your face will be quite red for a day or two, but no pain, just some tightness and minimal peeling. Make sure to stay completely out of the sun, and no exercise for 3-4 days or you'll metabolize the PRP, and essentially be minimizing the effectiveness of the procedure. It's been about 2 weeks since my procedure and I'm feeling good about my skin. Please remember, your skin cells turnover in 30 day cycles, so do not go looking for a miracle the next day!!! MAINTENANCE It is recommended to do at least 3 sessions, while others may require 6 sessions based on severity of acne scarring, etc. Dr. Chen will be able to advise during consultation. Overall, I cannot recommend this procedure enough if you're looking to take years off your face. There's minimal pain, downtime, and you're literally using your body's own healing factors to repair any damage/concerns you have. It's not like some of those other questionable/gimmicky skin treatments out there (you know what I'm talking about!) TLDR: Dr. Chen is extremely kind, patient, knowledgeable, and professional. The procedure is 100% backed by science and you're using your own body's healing factors to turn back the clock!! Random, but the office is absolutely stunning. I can't wait to be back for Session #2!

I went to Dr Chen for PRP treatment for my face, it was painless and educational. Dr Chen and his staff preped me for the procedure and made sure each step was explained to me to make sure I was ok. He evaluated my face before the procedure to make sure which area on my face needs more attention. He was very gentle on my face and constantly asked if I was ok during the procedure. Afterward I was given a gift bag with all the goodies to take home and they gave me detailed instruction how to take care my face after procedure . After a couple of days, I feel my face is smoother and glowing already! I can’t wait to get the next one and start seeing my face get rejuvenated ! Thank you Dr Chen and your staff at Drmedspa!

I recently got a hydrafacial with Teri and she is amazing! She is a thorough and wonderful. Dr. Chen is also very wonderful and very nice! They have such an amazing team at DrMedSpa! I will definitely return!

I have been a patient of Dr. Chen's for the past 2 years for my knee pain and recently had PRP of my face done! First of all, Dr. Chen's new office space is beautiful! The decor and atmosphere already makes me feel so relaxed! When I came for my PRP, I was greeted nicely by the front staff. Dr. Chen and his assistant Caileigh thoroughly explained each step and showed me the sterilized and newly packed supplies they were going to use on me! I felt very safe, especially during the Covid time. The whole procedure was so relaxing (not painful at all!). And the results! I am now a believer! My skin was instantly glowing and I have been seeing so much improvement in skin texture! I cannot wait to receive my second treatment! Thank you Dr MedSpa!

Had an amazing experience at DrMedSpa! All the staff were very friendly and answered all the questions I had. I've been suffering from acne for 2 years now, I've tried over 10 different face washes/toners/acne medications and nothing was working. I would get painful and red acne around my nose and chin area. I received a HydraFacial from Teri and it was such a calming experience! My face instantly looked hydrated and areas where my acne was inflamed decreased significantly. I know it's not a one time miracle but it really felt like it! I didn't want to write a review until I continued to see results and I can say that the results 1.5 weeks later are still shocking. I can't wait to return soon for another treatment and get clearer/healthier skin.

Great staff and overall experience!! Dr.Chen and his staff are very welcoming, and helpful when it comes to any questions that you may have. I wasn't feeling very well, but after receiving the banana bag IV therapy I felt so much better. I'm super afraid of needles, but Dr.Chen is so skillful I didn't even feel a thing!

DrMedSpa was definitely a good experience! I got an IV bag called the banana bag and it was super cool! I felt hydrated and refreshed almost instantly. Parking was super easy and the design of the front is super nice. 10/10 would recommend

DrMedSpa is amazing!!! I got the signature hydrafacial, and the PRP (vampire) facial and omg my skin has transformed! These two procedures, especially hand in hand have helped me SO much with the texture and acne of my skin, and I’m so happy how the results were not only instant, but they have also lasted! I’m so excited to have such an amazing Med Spa so close to home. I can’t wait to keep coming back for more!

I am beyond thrilled such a high end medspa has come to San Mateo! I have been seeing Dr Chen for years for my back and wrist pain. Now that they added a medspa, this is literally a one stop shop! I had PRP of my face done by Dr Chen one month about and OMG, my skin has transformed! I cannot rave enough about the improvement of my wrinkles and pigmentation! The results speak for themselves! I am scheduled for my second session in a few weeks and cannot wait to see even more results! Dr Chen, you are truly a gifted man and your staff is amazing! I cannot wait to see DrMedSpa grow!
