Dr Date treated me for trismus, cervical strain and back spasms following a car accident in 2015. Her competence, experience and sheer persistence got me on the path to recovery. She’s experienced, smart and compassionate. She kept an open dialog about the risks/benefits of various medications/treatments and has never rushed me. Very lucky to have found her.

I was in bad shape following an MVA in 2015, which left me with intractable and excruciating trismus, cervical strain and back spasms. After consulting numerous specialists (gp, ENT, osteopath, dentist, neurologist), I was almost defeated...convinced I'd be disabled for life. Then, I found Dr Date. To address my chronic issues, she tried acupuncture, injection of botox and topical anesthetics along with muscle relaxants to relieve pain and help restore function. Ultimately, her patient work along with cranio-sacral massage and the right muscle relaxant led to a slow but steady improvement over the past 5 years. Dr Date is knowledgable, competent, tenacious and kind. I never felt rushed or minimized during appointments. Because of her, I see a path to recovery.

I was a patient of Dr. Date for three years. During the course of that time she proved to be kind, competent and caring. She offers integrative / alternative services, such as acupuncture, to complement and enhance traditional medical interventions. I highly recommend her for back and/or neck trauma.

After spending two years with a Physiatrist in Los Gatos with no results ( see my previous review) I decided to find a new doctor. I was referred to Elaine Date by a patient at my previous doctor's office, while we both waited to see him. We both said we were not coming back. He told me about his daughter's pain doctor and how happy she is.. That is how I found out about Doctor Elaine Date of Redwood City. I made an appointment and I am so glad that I did. Round trip to Redwood City from Los Gatos and back, plus the office visit, involved less time than my previous doctor. Dr Date is so prompt. After reading my file we talked, I told her my right knee was causing me too much pain to handle. She ordered x rays. She took the time to show me the results. I could see what looked like a crack and a space so it must have been bone on bone. She explained everything to me and suggested a gel like substance delivered by injection should provide relief by cushioning the area. I agreed to this and I did receive the injection. It was painless. I thought my knee would feel better in time but my results came almost immediately. . I did more walking than I have done in a long time and I did not have to suffer for it. This doctor is not a cookie cutter type doctor and she treats every patient according to their own issues. She is kind and respectful. As one reviewer said " She is smart." I feel so fortunate that I now have an excellent pain management doctor and a wonderful family physician. If you are tired of being judged harshly because you have pain then Dr Elaine Date is the doctor for you.

I have knee and ankle pain to the point that I cannot walk and was recommended to Dr. Date by a friend. I called and was able to get in the next day. She helped diagnosis my condition and gave me multiple treatment options. She really goes into detail and thoroughly explains everything and answers all my questions. She gives me periodic knee injections to help with the inflammation. She is very friendly and accommodating. I can't explain how grateful I am for her for helped me with my knee/ankle pain. I highly recommend her for anyone with pain.

I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Date - she was always responsive, available and most importantly listened to my concerns about my injured knee and priorities for recovery and rehabilitation. She effectively brought the pain and swelling under control very quickly and referred me to excellent Physical Therapists. If I can continue to focus on the rehab and exercises and do not rush I should be running again within the next 4-5 weeks.

I have myelopathy and horrendous unremitting nerve pain in my neck radiating down both arms--accompanied by numbness. Moreover, I am hypereflexic and have had several osteoarthritis-related surgeries: triple cervical [neck] laminectomy with fusions, shoulder rotator cuff repair [from aggressively trying to reverse a frozen shoulder]. The frozen shoulder was due to holding my arm protectively due to the nerve pain. Several years ago I had a hip replacement and am due for another. Obviously I'm a mess. Elaine is the most competent and sensitive physician I've known. Beyond spending plenty of time with me each month, she has diagnosed problems other doctors failed to understand. She offers meds and injections, yet doesn't push the latter like some physiatrists. Though there is no "cure" for my conditions, it's helpful to know that I am care for by the best possible physician.

I believe that Dr, Date is responsible for the death of my client and friend. She was assigned the task to wean her off of the huge amounts of controlled meds she was taking and instead, continued to supply her with them and even allowed her to take more. I risked my job to intervene by secretly sending Dr. Date a letter stating the dangerous behavior I was observing (I found her near-comotose at times, slurred speech, stumbling and falling and cutting her head, and much more). I am an EMT certified, ex-firefighter and caregiver for her 12 years). Dr. Date's response was to tell my client to never let me talk to her again. And then she gave her another increased amount. And continued to until my client's over-dose and death. The pharmacists repeatedly would refuse to give more but Dr. Date would call and chew them out and make them give her more.She over-dosed as predicted by me and the pharmacist.If weaning from addiction is what you are here for, look elsewhere. Dr. Date has another agenda, and it is not the patient's welfare.

She is always smiling.She is always listening carefully.She pays attention and her reports are very complete.She is not a procrastinator and she finishes her job on you on the same day.She truly cares and takes care of her patient unlike the other doctor in her office.She was the head of PM &R department at Stanford University for many years and she is a very updated doctor as well.
