Jacqueline Koo's Online Review Report Card

During a pandemic and in a medical building across from an allergist/pulmonologist, PenEye staff do not wear masks, ignore requests to put masks on while walking by an allergy and asthma clinic. I've now twice been waiting to see my pulmonologist/allergist (I have several chronic lung conditions) and a staff from Pen Eye has walked by me without a mask. On both occasions it was someone different on both occasions I asked if they could put their mask on and was ignored. When I looked in the office, the woman (yet a 3rd person) was without a mask also. What's up with that? Why the disregard for public health requirements and rude/dismissive behavior toward patients with chronic conditions? Oh and I did email them directly after the first occurrence (2 weeks ago) and never heard back, so I don't see a willingness to correct the situation.

I became Dr. Koo's patient when another physician from this office retired and I was assigned to Dr. Koo. I have seen Dr. Koo 3 times and generally I find her to be a very good physician, but she has no consideration of patient time. Of my 3 visits, wait time has been no less than 30 minutes and generally over 45 minutes before even being seen by her. If you don't work or have hours to kill at this office, Dr. Koo would be a very fine physician for you. I assume she either has too big of a patient load now that she has taken over for the retired physician or simply fills her schedule without regard for your time.

I recently had a frightening experience. After complaining about poor eyesight and blurry vision for over 6 months, I was told my eye was healthy and that I should wear my glasses more. Dr. Koo did examine my eye several times to come to that conclusion. Finally, I decided to get another opinion, only to learn that I had 5 tears in my retina and a detachment. Thank goodness I listened to my body and sought another opinion. I recently underwent surgery and am recovering from it now.

Do not recommend. The technician who performed the eye exam was very knowledgeable but has since left the office of Dr. Koo. She does not come across as being dedicated to her patients as she works only part time. Not knowledgeable regarding my cornea conditions: Instead of giving specifics about the specifics and referring me to other specialists, she asked me to consult Google. Was not thorough. Lack of professionalism.

The Dr. herself is very friendly and communicates well. She's the type of person who puts the patient at immediate ease. I had a great experience at my appointment with her and plan to keep her as my ophthalmologist.

I was referred to Dr Koo by my optometrist. My appointment started on time and I was greeted by a very friendly, professional staff. I was concerned that I may have an eye problem that could have been serious. Dr Koo tested me thoroughly and made sure that I understood everything before I left her office. I am relieved knowing that I am in such capable hands.Interestingly I noticed a brochure for Botox while I was there. I had always gone to a dermatologist or "spa type" practice for this treatment. It had never occurred to me that of course it makes perfect sense to have this treatment around my eyes done by an eye doctor! I can report that this was the very first time that I have received this treatment by someone new, and didn't have "Cruella" or pointy eyebrows. It was perfect! I also feel that her pricing for this service is very reasonable. I'll definitely be going back to Dr. Koo. She is very friendly, answered all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. Easily 5 stars!

Dr Koo was superb. I am not sure about other reviews here. She is obviously extremely knowledgeable, and was caring/attentive during the appointment and follow up.

She is really rude and nasty! She made me feel like i was a little kid in trouble by a teacher. I had a corneal ulcer because I wore my contacts too much. She basically blamed me for my own condition. She snaps at you when you ask too many questions and it is uncalled for! She did give me the correct medicine to cure my ulcer, but I am sure there are better doctors out there who can cure me and not make me feel bad at the same time.
