Beware !!! They billed for services that WERE NOT rendered!!! I will be reporting to BBB
Great group of physicians who care about the experience of their patients
We had a horrible experience with their billing department. It took more than a month to get a simple receipt showing that we had paid in full. I am in awe that a business can run like this. I am more than happy to discuss my experience with you so that you can improve. Doubting that I will be given the opportunity.
Be very careful. They have illegally balance billed us. We had a procedure at an in-network hospital that requires all physicians with privileges honor their insurance agreements. They took the negotiated payment from my insurance company (according to industry standards) and then billed me for the balance claiming that they are not in network with our insurance company (even though we had no choice regarding anesthesiologist and were not notified. They are now coming after me for it. Problem is, according to hospital policy and California State law, this practice is illegal. I am going to bill them for my time dealing with their illegal activity.
My three year old son had surgery at San Antonio Surgery Center. Needless to say, we were quite nervous. Our anesthesiologist, Dr.Brichta, did an amazing job reassuring us and putting our anxiety at ease. It's always a pleasure knowing that there are some docs out there that still treat patients with compassion and are amazing at their job. Our son was a happy camper afterwards and of course so was I. Thank you Dr.Brichta!
I have called their telephone number at least twice a day for a week. No one ever answers the phone. I leave messages requesting a call back and so far I have received none. I need information regarding my procedure and can't seem to get it. This is a poor way to run a professional office.
I had such a wonderful experience with this group, especially Dr. Chalian. I went into labor before my scheduled c section, and Dr. Chalian came and introduced himself and quickly placed a spinal. The procedure was minimally painful, and I was relieved of my contractions soon after. Now, post recovery, things are great. Would use this group again.
I have had two surgeries with an Anesthesiologist from Allied, once at San Antonio Regional Hospital and another at San Antonio Ambulatory Surgical Center. I was able to request the same Anesthesiologist that took care of me during the first surgery. He was great, put me at ease, gave me a nerve block on one surgery which made the surgery pain free for two days! I felt great after and they were contracted with my insurance so I did not have any payment issues at all! Thumbs up for Allied Anesthesia!
On January 24, 2017 I had a partial knee replacement surgery at San Antonio Regional Hospital. My anesthesiologist, Dr. Tahrawi, greeted me in the holding room explaining everything that was to be done. When I was wheeled into surgery I was given a spinal along general anesthesia, all done very quickly and painlessly. After surgery, Dr. Tahrawi visited me in my hospital room and made sure that I was recovering. I highly recommend allied anesthesia and especially Dr.Tahrawi!
I was not allowed to make any decision regarding my anesthesiologist -- I selected an "In network" surgeon and ensured services were performed in an "in network" hospital. No one could tell me who the anesthesiologist would be but was assured that this is normal. Naturally, Allied Anesthesia was out of network and ended up being the anesthesia provider for my surgery. Though out of network, my insurance did make payment based on some "Non par reimbursement" program. I had already expended all of my "out of pocket" expenses for the year due to a serious accident earlier in the year. Allied would not reasonably negotiate a compromise in their "full amount billed" -- I was agreeable to paying what a normal contract rate is (less what my insurance had already paid) -- they would not accept any reasonable negotiation even though EVERYONE has agreed that I had no choice in the matter of who anesthetized me. Furthermore, since all of this began, Allied now has a contract with my Insurance carrier and will not accept that contracted rate as payment -- they want the "full amount billed for services" prior to the new contracted rate. Oh, and did I mention that my insurance paid 110% of what would be charged had I been a Medicare patient.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
