Dr Pifer was recommended by another orthopedic surgeon in the Santa Barbara area to do a reverse shoulder replacement. I came from Monterey county and stayed with my daughter for two months to recover. Dr Pifer did the replacement in September 2022. I'm 75 years old, female. I was in pain following surgery in February for rotator cuff which re-tore. Recommendation was reverse total shoulder replacement. He did a great job, no regrets here. His office was always ready to answer questions and follow up. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Pifer. Doing physical therapy now which helps.

My husband had rotator cuff surgery in October. He was recommended by Dr Pifer to do the PRP treatment for faster healing. We were told 6 months for full recovery. Well it was 6 weeks for him. He was able to get back to weight lifting but only half the weight. That’s better than almost lifting nothing until 6 months! Dr Pifer explained the whole procedure and recovery very well. He did great on my moms surgery so I didn’t doubt it once to see him for my husbands surgery.

A little over a year ago, I tripped on some wire that was laying in the aisle at a big box store. I did a dead-fall onto the cement floor and was taken by ambulance to the ER where an x-ray showed that I had a dislocated right shoulder. An MRI was subsequently done and the radiologist diagnosed my condition as tendinosis. After ten months of physical therapy, I was still in a lot of pain and there were many things I still couldn't do. A friend recommended that I see Dr. Pifer. He took one look at the original MRI and said, "Here's your problem: you have a torn rotator cuff and a superior labrum tear." So, a full year after my original fall, Dr. Pifer correctly interpreted my MRI and performed out-patient laparoscopic surgery to repair my rotator cuff as well as a bicep tear and a superior labrum tear. I cannot recommend Dr. Pifer highly enough. Personally, he's extremely knowledgeable, very approachable, friendly, warm and compassionate. He answers questions clearly and is very generous with his time. I'm so grateful that he was recommended to me. I only wish I'd known about him a year ago and saved myself the fear and anguish that I was just going to have to live with the pain. He's given me my life back and I'll be forever grateful.
