Richard Ryu's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Ryu is the most unprofessional doctor I have seen. He wrote a scathing report about me personally after my visit several years ago. It was a personal attack on me and in writing no less. He needs to go back to medical school and learn bed side manners when asked a question and learn how to write a proper report of a patient without personal attacks.

My daughter had a torn ACL and Dr. Ryu was scheduled to do her surgery. On the final visit, days before the surgery, he was so rude to her (12 years old at the time) he had her in tears. We requester her x-rays and left. There is poor bedside manner and then there is Dr. Ryu. Rude and just plain mean. My understanding is if you are a female, he is even worse to you than he is to the males. There are plenty of great doctors out there who perform great surgically and are kind and make a patient feel at ease. Ryu is definitely not one of them.

Harold Early I am currently 64yrs old and started resistance training, surfing etc. at apr 15. About a year ago (not surprisingly) I began to have significant pain and loss of motion in my left shoulder. Dr. Ryu repaired my "torn rotator cuff ; torn labrum; detached outer bicep". Within 8 months I was given the OK to begin resistance training. Today I am back to where I was before surgery including being able to do squats, bench press, shoulder presses etc. In addition I have been become an avid mountain biker ( non E bike ). Dr Ryu is a "no nonsense" consummate professional and expert at what he does. Listen to what he recommends for rehab post surgery protocol etc. FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTION EXACTLY and you too will have great results.

My experience was right there with the other 1-star reviews. Dr. Ryu may be a brilliant surgeon, I don't know, but my visit with him was the first time I've ever been bitched out by a doctor for asking a question. I'll find someone to fix my shoulder that I can stand to be in the room with.

Dr. Ryu has 17 likes on the the negative reviews written about him on google. They are way more likes than his positive reviews, and there are more positive reviews. Rich Ryu treats most of his patients like pure scum, and enjoys getting away with it.

Dr. Ryu recently repaired my severe rotator cuff injury. My experience with his clinic, the surgicenter and the entire staff was top notch. I can not speak highly enough to the level of professionalism the entire staff provided from start to finish. Dr. Ryu was incredibly diligent and detail oriented at all steps from pre-op to the day of surgery, and his subsequent follow up with my physical therapy. I can not recommend Dr. Ryu and his staff highly enough!

100% Recommend. Dr. Ryu and his staff go above and beyond to make sure all patients are cared for and all needs are met. Great communication before, during and after surgery. The office runs efficiently with almost ZERO wait time. Its amazing. We drive 2.5 hours one way for the visit and will NEVER use another orthopedic team. 100% recommend. If you want the best, this is the one you should choose.

My first encounter with Dr. Ryu was 24 hours after I made a call to get an appointment. I knew within a couple of minutes that this was the doctor that I wanted to have as my surgeon. He listened and informed me of my choices regarding my injury. I needed to have imaging performed and that occurred the day after my initial consult. The speed of the whole process for was mind blowing after dealing with Doctors in Marin County and having to wait 2-3 months. I could not be happier with the results post surgery and I am back to doing almost all of the activities I was missing out on while injured. I would highly recommend Dr. Ryu as a surgeon, he is a rock star in my book. The staff at his office is super friendly and competent in a world that seems to lack it. Dr. Ryu and his hospitable and friendly staff made each visit a pleasure. The surgery was scheduled quickly, the surgical center was safe and convenient, especially during COVID, and the nurses were wonderful! Each visit was timely, and I always felt I could ask questions about my recovery. Not only am I back to doing the activities I love, but am back to doing them well!

I had been experiencing shoulder severe pain and drastically reduced range of motion. A friend referred to Dr Ryu as "THE Shoulder Guy" and suggested I see him for an evaluation. I was not disappointed. The procedure was 5 weeks ago and I am well on the way to having 100%, pain free range of motion. No need to look elsewhere.
