List of Sansum Clinic's Reviews
The only relief I received from this clinic wasn't from allergies, but from not having to deal with them again. I had a brief 5-minute call with one of their staff to discuss whether they could administer a regular allergy shot while I'm on travel outside Colorado. It was a regular screening call and it ended with them saying they'd check in with my current allergy clinic and get back to me. I never heard back from them and forgot about it until I received an invoice for $230 two months later.
Was planning on switching from Kaiser to Sansum Clinic. Made a new patient appointment with Dr Engrstrom. They gave me a phone number to call to have my records transferred. After more than 3 weeks and a half of dozen calls and messages nobody has called me back. Left another 2 messages for the supervisor in charge of records Laurie Gutierrez. Still no response. If this is how they treat you from the beginning i'll take it as a signa nmd find another doctor/clinic. I have had better service at the DMV.
This place has good and bad staff. In general the MD's are good. They do provide Specialty MD's that no town has an ample supply of. However, there is now a major problem. They no longer accept patients outside of Santa Barbara County. I believe that this is illegal. This involves discrimination against patients by their place of residence.I have seen some MD's in the past, but they refused me to be grandfathered in. I do not live in Santa Barbara County. I believe that they are in financial trouble. This status is not uncommon with private clinics nationwide. Part of the cause is very poor reimbursement from Insurance Companies, especially Medicare. I will complain to the State Medical Board.
Sansum Urgent Clinic at Hitchcock is fantastic. If you are sick and get there before they open you can be seen very quickly. The very skilled doctors and nurses are excellent. I'm am always so pleased with care the I or my family members receive.
Not a fan of bullying parents into medical interventions they didn't agree too. You can't sign a PBE for one parent and then turn around and not give one to the lady with the brown skin. Are they easier to bully? (not cool) Hear the parents, inform... don't bully. Stay away if you have different beliefs and opinions than the pharma Nazis do!
Awful patient care, call it no care in pediatric department. Can never get in touch with pediatric MD for my child, walk in with a fever for a 5yr old over 100F and nurse goes sorry we are done for the day at 11.30am. Walk into their urgent care department in their same waiting area and their wait time average 2 hours, still waiting and there are only 4 people waiting here. Wish we had more options in Santa Barbara!
ALL Sansum clinics' FIRST goal is emptying your wallet. They have NEVER made me feel like a patient, they make me feel like a customer. I've never seen such gouging and money grubbing as I have experienced with Sansum. The doctors are OK, the service is spotty but he charges are OUTRAGEOUS...$200 FOR AN OFFICE VISIT!!?!?! Who do they think they are kidding? You can see the best people in LA for less than that. They use totally capricious BS reasons to gouge you. I feel their operation is extortional and almost criminal. GO ANYWHERE ELSE...THEY ARE THE BIGGEST RIPOFF IN THE COUNTRY.
I had a really bad experience this Sunday at the Urgent Care facility. The nursing staff was rude, inattentive and less than competent. I had pneumonia and was in much distress. I was put into a small exam room after about a 30 minute wait. There I waited for nearly two hours before I went to the nurse's station and told them I was too sick to wait any longer. All the time I was waiting I could hear the staff laughing and having fun. I was told that they would check on it. 15 minutes later a PA came in, said the he didn't have my chart and immediately left. Almost an hour later I went back to the giggling nurses and told them that I was leaving; I was very sick. They said that someone would come immediately. 15 minutes later the PA came in, diagnosed me to have pneumonia and sent me to be xrayed. I all, it took four hours to get through the process because the nursing staff was too disinterested to even find a simple file. On top of that, they never sent my physician the report; she had to retrieve it herself. My vet and his staff treat every dog and cat with more care and concern than I was afforded at this clinic.
After being sick with a bad cough for a week, my Husband took me into the Hitchcock Urgent Care and we received stellar service in every area. The customer service was exceptional and we were greeted with warmth and a smile. They were able to get me back to see the doctor within ten minutes and we were in and out within a half hour - including having our prescriptions filled. This is unheard of, in my experience, in an urgent care setting. It was a wonderful experience (despite being sick) and we were overwhelmed by the kindness and professionalism from all of the staff. Big kudos to Berenice at the front desk with her beautiful and kind smile, the RN who received me with compassion, Dr. Ehsani for his warmth and professionalism and finally, to the pharmacist for filling my prescription last minute as she was closing. Also, I feel I should add that we are new to the Santa Barbara area and my Husband's insurance through work is not effective until next month. Therefore we were self pay (paying out of pocket with cash) and the clinic offers a discount for those types of patients. This is also an added bonus for anyone out there without health insurance coverage or who prefers to pay with cash. As a health care employee for several years myself, I am very particular about my experience at the doctor. The clinic is very clean and well maintained and their care is efficient and streamlined. I give them my highest recommendation for any urgent care needs.- Happily Healing with Azithromycin (aka Jessecca SottoSanti, Santa Barbara CA)

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
