Santa Barbara Smiles Dentistry's Online Review Report Card

I was going to a dentist in Carpenteria that I liked a lot for the past few years, but he recently retired and I wasn't loving the new dentist who took over his practice, so I decided to look for a new one. A good friend of mine recommended Dr. Layus and although it's a bit more of a drive for me, I only usually visit the dentist twice a year so no biggie. Let me just say, I am so very very glad I switched! Dr. Layus is such a nice guy, and he made me feel very comfortable. I felt like he was honest and didn't try to upsell me the whole time (one of the reasons I left my previous dentist). He offers Invisalign, which I am very excited about because I've been considering doing it for a couple years now. My old dentist did not do Invisalign, so that's a huge plus. I am returning in a couple weeks to do a scan for Invisalign and will hopefully be able to get started soon after! The hygienist, Tatiana, was great and very knowledgeable about airway dentistry, which was another huge plus as I have recently been learning quite a bit about airway health, and she was able to give me some really wonderful insight. The woman at the front desk, Anayi (sorry if I got the spelling wrong) was really sweet and easy to work with. Overall I loved my experience here. My one and ONLY very small complaint is just that the waiting room is really small. But it's an older building, and they have made it look really nice and updated inside. The bathroom was clean (really important to me), and the whole office was decorated cute with beach and surf photos. I forgot to grab photos at my first visit, but I will be going back in a couple weeks to do my Invisalign scan and will update my review with photos then!

I was greeted cheerfully by the front desk ladies upon my arrival. I was met promptly by Nadia who did a very thorough and professional job of taking X-rays and cleaning my teeth. She complimentied me for taking good care of my teeth and gums by flossing every day. Dr Layus checked my X-rays and explained how one tooth might ne slightly decaying.

I have been with Santa Barbara Smiles Dentistry for several years and appreciate all the good work Dr. Layus and staff have helped me with. My teeth get stained easily although I try my best to eliminate staining food or drink. Nadia, my dental hygienist does an excellent job of removing those stains and helps me to restore my teeth to pearly whites…. That makes me feel good and want to smile more often to show them off. Thank you Nadia, Dr. Layus and Staff for all you do.

DO NOT COME HERE. I tried to give them multiple chances to rectify - make things right. I will be reporting to the dental board & BBB, AGAIN. Not only was Cecilia incredibly unprofessional and rude when I was a client here, advocating for myself; Dr. Layus was pushing his political rhetoric my entire 2 appts. On top of them botching my dental work that had to be fixed because they botched it the first time, and also they never completed a crown install because Cecilia didn't like that I stick up for myself or won't let them be disrespectful to their clientele, so they refused to work on me any further. Which has led me to THOUSANDS of corrective dental work and oral surgery next week. AVOID THIS DENTIST OFFICE. Entire lack of professionalism and genuine care across the board.

Five stars hands down from the moment walk in through the door to when you leave. The staff are friendly and warm. Dr. Layus has the patience of an angel. He listens to the patient’s needs. He explains what he is going to do and why. The dental hygienists are amazing at what they do. I got two fillings done in less than an hour and a half. It’s affordable and close to downtown at a great location with plenty of parking in the back. If you go there, make sure to try the tamales at the bakery across the street!! I would recommend to anyone!

Im not a dentist, but I imagine learning how to fill a tooth is learned in the first day of school. Dr, layus must have played hooky that day. I went in for a cavity and left with a hole the size of the Grand Canyon and a 24/7 tooth ache. Avoid D layus.

Been going to Dr Layus office for several years. He has taken the time to explain what work I need and why. The dental hygienist is awesome. The first time I had a dentist give me a mirror to look into my mouth and point out my dental issues, not just in an x-ray. He replaced my old 30+ year silver filling with modern white fillings. Had some friends comment how my mouth looks better without silver fillings. The dental hygienist takes the time to properly clean every single tooth. Gives advice on proper dental cleaning. If needed, gives advice on how to clean any problem area. I recommend Dr. Layus office to friends and family. He's chill and does good work.

Nadia, is a fantastic dental hygienist. She cleaned my teeth so well my teeth were pearly white again. Nadia also helped me clean my bite guard with an ultrasonic cleaner helping remove tartar and bacteria that can cause tooth decay

This dentist is so awesome he explains everything. Came in as an emergency had tooth pain and he was able to fill cavity same day.

I’ve had a great experience. The staff is welcoming and professional, and the Nadia was thorough, gentle, and take the time to explain everything clearly. The office is clean and well-organized, and I always feel well cared for during my visits. Highly recommend!
