List of West Coast Sports Institute - Physical Therapy's Reviews
Emmett is a tremendous physical therapist. He quickly diagnosed my issue (back pain stemming from an imbalance and some SI joint issue) and put me to work on fixing it. Every session included new exercises and it was never boring. The pain is gone and I feel stronger than ever.
I had an ankle injury I was recovering from and South Bay Sports PT did a great job! Dr. Amy was kind, personable, and very patient! I learned so much about my specific injury and the importance of all the exercises they taught me. I feel much better now and I am back to training for my marathon. Not sure why the reviews are so bad here. I had a great experience from all of their staff and PT's! Highly, highly, recommend this place for physical therapy!!!
Not sure why these guys have such a low rating, they've been great. Seems like they have a huge range of patients in here, from surgery recovery to people with aches/pains trying to get back to doing their every day routines. Mostly been working with Jesse and Ricky, but nothing but good vibes from the rest of the staff as well. Have been flexible when I've had to reschedule and a bunch of phone/text reminders that can be turned off if you wish, but I find them helpful. Look forward to going in to sessions and my knee has been recovering beautifully from my ACL reconstruction. You get what you put into it but totally worth the effort.
one star for the PT department's receptionist.CARMEN.Saying rude is an understatement. She is the type of employee that hates her job, sitting down in front of the computer the whole day maybe fried her brain!she doesn't like re- scheduling patients, what a very hard and boring job to do, maybe underpaid also. She gets upset if you cancel and reschedule your appointment even you gave 24-48 hrs notice. There are reasons why a patient cannot come to their appointment. She also lets you know about how many times you have rescheduled.. SO WHAT!! is there a fee for that? are you that lazy to move the mouse and reschedule a patient? Why are these type of employees still have a job? No respect for patients or clients. and you don't even have a big corporate position to even have that type of attitude. Well what more if you did have a high position in an office. So why is it a hassle for carmen to reschedule a patient? will she lose her paycheck if the schedule is empty? is she the owner of the facility? So why give an attitude like you lost a lot of income? I should feel that way because I own a business! I had to close my office for a week, because my son is sick. A person like carmen should not be working in the front desk! There are better people out there that can do her job and won't have her attitude.
Firstly, I want to explain that while I love Dr. Amy, I took 2 stars off for the office itself. Reception is impossible to get a hold of. Even if you leave a message, there is no guarantee that you will get a call back. My boyfriend tried to call the office on several, separate occasions to make an appointment as a new patient with one of the other doctors and has not gotten a call back at all. They really need to fix this, as it seems from the other reviews that this is an ongoing, persistent issue. After years of going to my mom's doctor (which she didn't really like anyway), I felt it was time to find a doctor of my own. I was recommended to Dr. Amy Hockenbrock from a friend who saw her recently for the first time. Dr. Amy is very genuine and makes you feel comfortable. She is also very thorough with her questions. She'll ask you the standard questions that any doctor should ask, but also asks what additional concerns you have. On following visits, she will also ask about any changes sine your last visit. She types up your responses on her MacBook and uses Elation Passport for follow-up communicate with patients, including test results and general questions. My first visit was just a check-up so there weren't any eminent issues. My second visit was for a couple of specific ailments. I listed them out for her and she went through each of them and provided several solutions for each. We discussed the different options and found ones that worked for me. She may recommend some tests, but she doesn't just submit you to them without discussion. No one really likes going to the doctor's office, but Dr. Amy makes it less daunting.
I'm not a fan of this place. The receptionist is very unpleasant and the therapist seemed more intent on trying to get in my good graces than on doing the work I was there to do. I'd had a really difficult time finding the place (the sign says "Wells Fargo" - no indication of the PT outfit, then the unpleasant receptionist, then asking me if a student could watch (really? can I just get some decent work done with a little privacy, please?). I really didn't want to make small talk or smile just to make her feel better. I observed that another therapist wasn't watching his client go through his exercises; instead, he was on his computer. I don't like feeling like a piece of meat shuffled between employees who may or may not be equipped to assist me in my recovery.
I went here for an injury. I was told by the Dr that everyone is seen the day after their MRI to discuss the results. I received a brief phone call but no face to face. I paid for the MRI myself b/c they couldn't coordinate the insurance. There was no way to get in touch with the Dr because every time I called I was greeted by a machine where I left a message and wasn't contacted back. The Drs extension provided was inoperable. I had to drive there twice to get confirmation/information. Everything was a total ordeal. Very unprofessional. If they have too many patients and can't handle anymore they should stop accepting them. Never seen such poor relations between office/Dr/ and patient.
I had my doubts. Badly sprained ankle playing basketball over 4 months ago, Been working with Liz and Jessie for the past 6 sessions or so. Ankle is feeling significantly better!!! I did not expect such intense work outs, but if you are fully focused on the exercises, it is quite a work out. My ankle feels considerably better, improved range of motion and strength and the ankle no longer feels as tender and sore. Both Liz and Jessie have been terrific and the exercises and therapy have been fantastic. I thought it would take a few more months before I could resume playing basketball, but at this point, I should be back on the court in a couple weeks. Since the ankle, I was diagnosed with partial tear in shoulder. I'll be starting PT on shoulder today. Given the results with my ankle, I'm optimistic that the therapy for my shoulder will be equally beneficial. The facility is quite roomy and comfortable. All the equipment is well maintained, clean and organized. Also, its never overly crowded. I have never seen more than 3 other patients at one time. If you are looking for a place for PT, I highly recommend South Bay Sports!!!
Let's just start with, my father has been too 3 different physical therapy places (this being the 4th) and has had over 12 different therapist. We where actually made aware of this place by my pop's home P.T. The first time in, as we walked through the doors I immediately noticed a difference. This place looked more like a gym. My father's P.T. is Ricky, let me tell you he's a wolf in sheep's clothing!! I'm mean he's got a gentle demeanor yet he doesn't mess around and brings on the pain!! Pops loves him cuz he's not being treated like a crippled person and is being pushed harder and harder ever time we come in. (The proof is in the pudding) pops has gone from not even been able to walk outside of the house to walking around in Costco in three sessions!! No joke. Ricky spends 1 hour 2 times per week with hands on P.T. on my father. I can't give him and this establishment high enough praises!
Love Dr. Hockenbrock, have only been there twice, but she is friendly and efficient. Billing Department I would have to give a BIG THUMBS DOWN, obviously this is farmed out to India. First person I talked to could not be understood. Finally another person came on the line and was finally able to help me, what should have taken 3 minutes took 15.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
