Dominican Hospital's Online Review Report Card

I was sent to Labor and Delivery department to check if I was having problems with my pregnancy. The charge nurse Karen, and my nurse Nancy were great! However, the ultrasound tech/sonographer William who was very unprofessional and unpleasant. He and the midwife Cali made the rest of my day a living nightmare.William was having a hard time getting an image of my baby because "my baby's leg was in the way". Instead of trying harder, he just gave a measurement that said my baby was growth restricted in my uterus.The midwife came in a few hours later to tell me that everything looked good(my cervix was closed, I wasn't having any contractions, the baby's heart rate was great, my blood work was great, urine sample didn't show any infection) except that the ultrasound shows that my baby is having intra uterine growth restriction(based on the measurement that William couldn't get accurately because again "my baby's leg was in the way"). Then, the fear tactic started: we are sending you to Stanford for this exam, you may need to give up your current birth plan, we will need to monitor you for the next couple of weeks, then induce you by 35 weeks because your body is not a safe environment for the baby....Thank God I asked them to give me a copy of the ultrasound report and saw that all she said was based on the measurement William couldn't accurately get. I was terrified, and so I went for a second opinion at a private clinic the next day, only to find out that my baby was growing within normal range.I basically wasted my time at Dominican, I even got more anxiety leaving the place, and I will probably be slapped with a couple thousand dollar bill. This place isn't worth anyone's time.

Communication, care, and food are fantastic here. The only problem you will run into is with their billing department and online info. Billing doesn't understand that when they bill you on three or four different accounts, you might not be able to pay your bills and eat too. Their financial counseling office is permanently closed. And, for whatever reason, their online site offers no place to start your account. Their phone que is also a joke as is the service when you reach someone.

I am so glad that I have Dominican Hospital available to me. Wonderful staff!

Great place for nurses

Services provided were good but the billing department is extremely incompetent. They can't figure out how to send a simple bill to Kaiser. I have now called 4 times providing the correct address (verified by Kaiser) and they still can't get it done. The third time I called to inquire, they had apparently neglected to put an address on the previous correspondence attempts before sending them out. Somehow they managed to send it to a collection agency though - didn't forget to put the address on that one. Please train your billing department staff better. The level of incompetence is just unbelievable.

They misdiagnosed my reproductive issues and my broken arm on separate occasions. I had to live through extreme pain due to the hospitals oversight and would never recommend Dominican hospital to anyone who needs emergency care.

Hey Dominican, not allowing Obstetrics Panels unless the patient’s gender marker is F doesn’t keep you from having trans patients to treat, it just makes the technicians have to be awkward because they have to explain why the system won’t just take the orders. Pretty primitive of you. Luckily the people I saw got through it without a total breakdown. Too bad your higher-ups can’t do the same.

On Tuesday, October 12, 2021, my husband was seen at the Dignity urgent care for difficulty breathing. He had a chest X-ray and was diagnosed with a pleural effusion, told to go to Dominican ER for thorecentises. After 5 hours he was released with Lasix, a diuretic, that  would be possible treatment for heart failure. He had just had a nephrectomy a few weeks before at Stanford Hospital, the diuretic could greatly dehydrate the remaining kidney. I'm a nurse so I recognized this immediately. His O2 saturation was about 88-91 which is very low. I wasn't allowed into the ER and never spoke to anyone. He was discharged before I got back to pick him up and I found him walking along the road by the mental health unit, barely able to keep going. I'm furious at this treatment and would warn anyone that needs emergency treatment to avoid this hospital!!! Good Samaritan in Los Gatos is fairly close as are many others.

I was seen here back in 2016 for food poisoning when I was in college. I had no idea why I was so ill as I’ve never had this condition before. When I got there, I did have to sit tight for 10 min using this bathroom once. When I was seen the doctor assured me I just had a bad case of food poisoning and I was dehydrated. I was in the hospital bed for a few hours and I was given anti-nausea medicine and IV fluids. The staff were outstanding. When I was waiting, there were homeless people shouting in the waiting room, but the staff handled the patients appropriately.

Always helpful staff. Quick service and my hand feels better thank you for your knowledge and care.
