Dr. Rachel Abrams has saved my life. I can not tell you, in this short format, what a difference it is to go to a physician who really listens. She thinks out side the box and keeps up with the latest research. Her office is top notch too. Her nurse is responsive and makes you feel welcome. The Chiropractor in her office has kept me active, in spite of my old bones. The best there is!!!
Dr Rachel Abrams was the 1st person in 50 years of health issues to ask me very basic questions and used the answers to put together a jigsaw puzzle of my health issues. Thanks to her at 60 my health is better than it's ever been. Kind, smart as heck, curious, and thinks in and outside of the box. She is the best!
A Dr. that listens and is truly interested in you! Love that she prescribes lifestyle changes and supplements before a drug. And her methods work!!!
Dr. Abrams literally changed my life! When I went to see her, I was pretty much in a bad place both physically and emotionally. Previous doctors had given me medicine for my ailments, but none of them helped and nobody helped me realize that there was much more going on that just sinus infections. In that first appointment, she got me on the path of healing a hip injury, a nutrition and exercise plan, natural supplements to deal with anxiety and a referral to a therapist to help me unravel the perfectionist lifestyle that had taken over my life. I am happy to say that 1 year later, I have lost 15 pounds, exercise 3-4 days a week and feel more purpose and joy than I think I've ever felt in my whole life. I will never forget that first visit. I knew the very moment I left the office that this appointment would change my life. Thank you Dr. Abrams!
Love her, recommend her to many!
I am honestly disappointed in my care from Dr. Rachel Abrams. I would have given her one-star, had it not been for her kindness and good bedside manner (she truly is a nice person). However, she (along with a large handful of doctors) failed to diagnose me with Lyme disease, causing me to suffer for an additional 2 years beyond the 3 years I'd suffered before that. I asked for a Lyme test, and she didn't want to order one because she didn't think I had it. Well, it turns out she was completely wrong, and I kick myself now for trusting her judgement. I expected about this much from your average doc who knows nothing about preventative / holistic health and complex chronic illnesses, but for all the praise and Ted Talks Dr. Abrams is so famous for, I really would have expected more from her. A waste of a lot of money (I had to pay out of pocket) and even worse, my condition worsened and I'm suffering due to her failure to accurately diagnose me. Nice person, but extremely overrated as a physician.
Dr. Rachel is _smart_, thoughtful, joyful and compassionate, and she will direct these gifts fully toward you, the patient, and your health. She is an incredible doctor in her listening, her awareness, and her mystery-solving abilities. I can count on her solid mix of MD training with a holistic view: she is Board Certified in Family Medicine and in Integrative and Holistic Medicine. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Abrams. I have seen her for the past ten years. I have some chronic health issues and she has helped me beyond where I would believe I would ever get health wise. She is considerate, take her time and always return calls and e-mails in a timely manner.
Dr. Abrams has been my doctor for almost 10 years and I can't say enough positive things about her. Not only is she very competent when it comes to diagnosing, but she also takes her time making sure I understand why she is prescribing a certain medication or treatment. She has always included me in the decisions around my care often suggesting two or three different treatment possibilities letting me chose the one which fits my lifestyle and knowledge of my own body. The length of the appointments makes for a calm encounter without the rush I experience at other medical offices, and her warm personality makes me feel welcome and heard. I never knew you could laugh so much while at your doctor's appointment until I started to see Dr. Abrams. I have also had the honor of working with Dr Abrams in a professional capacity. As a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of trauma, and especially sexual abuse trauma I have many clients who find a pelvic exam to be very traumatizing. I have found Dr. Abrams to be the one doctor whom I feel comfortable referring to whom I know will take her time with this group of patients and work with them in a way so as the exam is not a traumatic one, but can be one of healing.
Dr. Abrams has helped me to regain my health and have a better quality of life. I look forward to my annual check-ups with my favorite doctor ever.
Dr Rachel Abrams is one of the most caring Dr's I ever met. She is not after fixing the problem, she goes after to find out the cause of it. She also empower you to help yourself and heal yourself. I only had great experiences with her.
I am a new patient of Dr. Abrams and I have nothing but positive feedback to offer: she is friendly and engaging, has a wonderful warm persona that puts you immediately at ease, and takes the time to really listen to your story. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable; this is the first doctor I've seen who I really feel confidence in, due to her holistic understanding of health and her ability to approach health challenges with insight and a comprehensive, preventative approach. I also love the Integrative Medicine philosophy, as I wholeheartedly believe that multiple health modalities working synergistically is the ideal method for reaching optimum health. I'm so glad I found Dr. Abrams and will be recommending her to everyone I know!
Dr. Abrams was an absolute godsend for me. I went through relatively debilitating and inexplicable (to traditional doctors) GI issues and insomnia for around two years. I went to all the top GI doctors that would see me, in Monterey, Stanford and even the Cleveland Clinic. All of the doctors I saw (around 8) gave me only 15 minutes of their time and only wanted to run big expensive testing like an endoscopy. On two nexium a day and lots of xanax, I sought out a new solution because the medications were not alleviating any of my symptoms. That's when I found Dr. Abrams. Finally, Someone who actually wanted to take the time, go through my history and figure out what was going on. She weened me off the nexium immediately and ran several tests that you would be hard pressed to get a traditional MD to do. We identified several food allergies and sensitivities, intestinal imbalances and found a prescription medication that helps my insomnia but is much less harsh than xanax. I cannot recommend Dr. Abrams highly enough. She is thoughtful, incredibly smart and compassionate.
I have known and used Dr. Abrams services for over 12 years. She is the future of medicine. Not only is she an experienced practicing MD, her holistic, nutritional and spiritual advice is by far the best. Dr. Abrams and her team of experts make Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine a one stop shop providing a relaxed open and deeply caring environment. If you are looking for advice on all around wellbeing, I highly recommend Dr. Abrams and her services.
My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Rachel Abrams since 2008. Because we have moved several times in the last few years we have had quite a few doctors, and Dr. Abrams stands out among them as one of the very best. Her medical skills include both western and eastern medical modalities, as well as her own intuitive insights. We have been well served by her and count it a real pricilege to be part of her medical family. Gene & Barbara Bullock-Wilson, Carmel Valley
Dr. Abrams is a beautiful woman with prominent accolades but she is money oriented and does not really spend time with the patient. I have known professionally hundreds of physicians and while many do not carry the title of integrative physician, they practice integrative medicine. She is expensive, takes no insurance, but will supply the poorly named "Super Bill." God forbid if you are on Medicare as she is not a subscriber. I consider her to be a mediocre physician who wants you to come back again and again at several hundred dollars a visit.
Abrams was so focused on time, she lost track of what she said she was going to do. She was focused on my being 10 min late and waiting in her waiting room 10 minutes. She used up time focusing on this matter. She forgot what she was going to act on, performed a lacklustre history and was unconvincing as even a fair physian. She came across as young, whiny and inexperienced, albeit articulate. I have worked in life sciences as an executive for 30 years and know many fine physicians. Abrams is not one of them, at least she has not convinced me as yet. Unfortunately, she is the person recommended for a consult in Santa Cruz, the location to which I moved recently. She takes no insurance, tests are expensive. Abrams can be rude and condescending as well. I have never been so angry about a physician experience or feel I had my time so wasted - but wait time issue was her concern.
Dr. Abrams has excellent knowledge and is easy to talk to. She spends as much time as you'd like to talk about your medical issues. Our entire family are her patients and we've recommended her to several other families. She's an MD with a holistic approach to health care, focusing on preventative, which is perfect for us.
Told us my son's skin rash should be resolved by eating kale and washing in clean detergent. She may have a medical background but treats patients like uniformed idiots.
