I hurt my back and was unable to function. Dr. Lavian's staff got me in the very next day. They had X-ray facilities in-house and were able to help me get back to a functioning level for a work event I had the next two days. They also helped me get approved for an MRI and I've got a follow up appointment scheduled as well. Very grateful for Dr. Lavian's knowledge and his staff's kindness during this difficult time.

I would not recommend Dr. Lavian. I recently had a cortisone shot and experienced violent spasms which caused me to double over in pain. I called the surgical center to report my condition, but the doctor did not call me himself. He had his PA call me instead. I have had two prior shots and never experienced any kind of reaction. I also noticed on the computer screen that the position of the needle was different from prior shots. Lavian said he wanted to shoot directly into the hip joint and he probably hit a nerve or muscle to cause such intense spasms which lasted almost an hour. I asked his PA to explain the difference between the two prior shots which he was quite reluctant to do. All I can say, Lavian hurt me badly and never had the courtesy to call me to see how I was feeling. I would definitely never use him again nor recommend him to friends or family.

Dr. Lavian was very thorough with his explanation of my medical issue, how he believed it was caused and explained the site area with anatomical pictures. I asked a lot of questions which he answered openly and directly. He was confident about his diagnosis and he did not waste any time in presenting the options for treatment and the pros and cons of all options. When we decided on a particular treatment which turned out to be a procedure requiring anesthesia, he confidently expressed his experience of doing the procedure, stating the number he had done, and this gave me a sense of comfort and security.

I saw Dr. Lavian in July 2020 for an epidural. It lasted about 2 weeks. I saw him again in September 2020 for a facet block and due to his negligence, I have been in horrible level 10+ pain since September! He did not feel it necessary to put me to sleep before my procedure and I was not numb enough before he injected the needle. I flinched on the table and cried! He numbed it more and proceeded. The block never worked and I now have pain down both legs everyday 24/7! He denies any wrong doing and suggest another epidural. I will NEVER return to him! He talks fast and doesn't care what you have to say!!

My husband and I have been going to Dr Lavian since he first came to Santa Monica. He is definitely our go to doctor when we have pain. He is very caring and listens carefully. We are grateful to have Dr Lavian as our pain management physician
