I have sought various practitioners to help with my own issues of PTSD, child abuse, family, career issues, etc. Dr. Cartaya far exceeds the norm for understanding, care and attending to complex issues. As a practitioner myself, I know that a healer needs a healer. He's been my go-to for years...he should be yours, too.

I have consulted with this brilliant, kind, empathetic doctor for years. No other professional helped me achieve the growth and confidence I’ve gained since working with this amazing professional.

I've seen Dr. Cartaya for years and have never had a better balance of caring, expertise, and a clear deep investment in advances and new developments in their profession. Truly, my quality of life has been enormously improved and Dr. Cartaya more than helped me on the way to a much better place than I was in before I saw him. Excellent.

Doctor Cartaya has an office in Santa Monica. He is attentive and quick to provide solid and sound solutions to some of it problems that I've run up against in the 20 years I've known him. He handles his patients with care and kindness and often we get into a conversation that goes longer than the allotted 50 minutes,but he stays right there with you with helpful suggestions and a gentle nudge when you need it to get some thing done to improve your own life. he works long hours well into the night;I've had appointments with him as late as 10 PM. His only downfall is that because he has taken longer time with patients he sometimes gets behind and you have to wait to talk to him. His assistant however is very good about staying in touch and telling you how long of a wait you can expect. He is a great shrink and has plenty of ideas to share with you and to bring some sanity to an insane world. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Has helped tremendously with his cutting-edge treatment methods. Seems like his early career has helped him to understand different mental problems and able to provide solutions to problems quickly, His published work is pretty entertaining as well.

Most intelligent caring doctor I've ever been blessed to work with for 6 months, wish I could've stayed in California, but life happens. Dr. Orlando Cartaya is the best psychiatrist in the United States; yes, he is abnormal wearing a lab coat and showing up in a Thunderbird two hours late... but he was making sure someone else was safe until their next appointment rather than simply blowing a patient off. I've been to 5 of the 10 best psych hospitals & their doctors are nothing compared to him

This man stole six weeks of my life with what seemed like addict behavior -- Not returning calls, or returning them two days after scheduled, usually late at night, showing up late to appointments or not at all. I gave him many chances initially because he was touted as brilliant by someone I respect a great deal. However brilliant this man is or was, I promise the benefits do not outweigh the costs or risks. When I called Dr. Cartaya urgently because I was having a bad reaction to a medication he prescribed, I didn't hear back from him three days. I had already taken myself off the medication and scheduled an appointment with a much better more responsible doctor. I don't know what kind of help this man needs, but one thing I am certain.... It's a lot greater than the help I need. Hopefully he will put the money he stole from me towards getting assistance. Do not trust this man with your money or your sanity. You will regret it.
