List of Providence Health & Services's Reviews
Horrible medical record department. It is literally impossible to get my own records from this place without getting the run around and hung up on. I must not have a high enough status for them to care. That’a California for you, care about everyone else until it’s your turn to do something about it
Is a nice hospital, they followed the coronavirus protocols you have to have a reason to going there if not don't past that's doors
Make smart choose pleaae.UCLA, the No. 1 hospital on the West Coast of the United States, is nearby. Both equipment and professionalism are far higher than that of St. John. St. John emergency room nurses who are disrespectful and impolite and unprofessional. The slow response of the ward nurses is like waiting for retirement. Our doctor happened to be on vacation, and the doctor who came to act as an agent had no diagnosis at all. He just said that he would wait for your attending doctor to come back and see how to deal with it. There is no medical ethics at all.
Worst experience of my life. I delivered my baby here and it was so horrid. The nurses were so mean and clearly miserable. They had to get me a emergency doctor because the nurse would not listen to me that I was ready to deliver, they shamed me for needing help after I was bleeding so much and could not pee. The nurses were so horrific and mean. Do not deliver your baby here!!!! I have PTSD now and I had Dr. Bickman as OBGYN apparently she is known for delivering babies but couldn’t get to me on time because the hospital nurse would not listen to me that I was ready to push out my baby. She literally told me to wait 10 min. She was a horrible person and treated me so badly. So better. Also the food sucked here for being a “high end” hospital in YUPPY Santa Monica.
If I'm ever in need of emergency service, I'd rather d*e than come here. Because the wait time will kill me itself. Horrible...
The doctor I saw here was great. My review has to do with their billing department. To summarize, they will try to up-charge on services as much as they can regardless of insurance coverage. They're quite money-hungry and predatorial so unless you enjoy picking apart bills and calling customer service, I'd suggest finding care elsewhere if you can.If you're interested in a detailed account:In my case, they tried to bill me as an uninsured patient even though I had insurance at the time of service and the service was covered under my plan. I contacted the billing department thinking it was just a clerical error and gave them my insurance information. I followed up with the billing department a week later and they said a claim had been submitted to my insurance and was pending. A few months later, I get a delinquency notice from a collections agency regarding the bill. I call my insurance to get an update on the claim and they tell me that no attempt at a claim had ever even been made for that service. I'm now working with the collections agency to clear this up, but I may end up having to pay the bill on the service (even though it was covered by insurance) so that it doesn't affect my credit. Interpret my story however you'd like, but this all feels like a fraudulent scheme to me. Suffice to say, I will not be returning to this health center, which is disappointing because I really did like the doctor I saw.
Wonderful hospital great doctor’s & Nurses. They saved my life but lost my clothes
My daughter spent 2 weeks her and she was cared for by the most outstanding professional staff here.
Lied about wait times. Wait staff gave attitude to a guy when he tried to get details about how long he would have to wait: she used the phrase "if you want to believe that you can". I don't remember what she was referencing, I was just shocked that she was so rude to a guy who can barely walk and was so worried about his condition that he stayed in ER well into early hours of the morning. They only had one ER doctor and an endless line of people.Appaling that a hospital in such a wealthy state and such a wealthy city is too cheap to properly staff their facilities.
Deeply sadness me that my son went to the St. John's ED three times this past week and he had to rush from Santa Monica to St. Joseph in Burbank while experiencing breathing issues. Thank goodness St. Joseph admitted him and he is being treated by a pulmonary specialist. He is expected to be admitted for a minimum of two nights.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
