List of Shamsah Amersi, Md's Reviews
I strongly urge anyone considering this practice to proceed with extreme caution. I booked a consultation for BHRT and, before the appointment, specifically called the office to confirm that it would be covered by insurance and that there would be no additional fees. I was explicitly told there would not be. At the appointment, Dr. Amersi spent less than 10 minutes with me and did not meaningfully listen to my concerns. It felt rushed and pre-scripted. When I asked about a medication recommended by another physician, she dismissed it and instead pushed a completely different treatment that would cost around $2,500 per week and required ongoing in-office visits. The most concerning part was the billing. I was encouraged to do labs in-office and told they would be "free" and "faster." Instead, I was charged $75 for the labs, plus an additional $400-$500 "concierge fee" that was never disclosed--despite my explicitly asking about all costs ahead of time. I spent months trying to resolve this with the office and ultimately paid only to avoid potential damage to my credit. This experience felt deeply misleading. Patients deserve full transparency--especially when directly asking about costs in advance. That did not happen here. After sharing my experience, I've since heard similar stories from others, which is why I feel compelled to speak up. If you do choose to go here, get every single cost in writing beforehand. Do not rely on verbal assurances.
I strongly urge anyone considering this practice to proceed with extreme caution. Before booking my BHRT consultation, I called the office to confirm that the visit would be covered by insurance and that there would be no additional costs. I was clearly told there would not be any fees beyond what insurance covers. The morning of my appointment—while I was already driving there—they sent a long email that, buried in the body, referenced an additional fee (not clearly labeled as a “concierge fee”). I never saw it in time. More importantly, this fee was never disclosed during my phone call when I explicitly asked about all costs. At the appointment, Dr. Amersi spent less than 10 minutes with me. The visit felt rushed, impersonal, and I did not feel heard. Without running any labs or taking the time to understand my health history, she recommended Ozempic—despite the fact that I am not overweight. At the time, this would have cost roughly $5,000 per month. This was especially concerning because another physician had already recommended a different medication for me that was fully covered by insurance, which she dismissed. I was also encouraged to do labs in-office and told they would be “free” and “faster.” Instead, I was charged $75 for labs, plus an additional $400–$500 concierge-style fee that had never been clearly disclosed upfront. I spent months trying to resolve this and ultimately paid only to avoid potential credit issues. After this experience, I took the time to read through Google and Yelp reviews and found many people describing the same issues—particularly around undisclosed fees and, in some cases, being sent to collections over these charges. That raised serious concerns for me. I also noticed that her website prominently highlights hundreds of near-perfect reviews (373 reviews with a 4.97 rating), which does not reflect my experience at all. It’s difficult to reconcile that rating with the number of concerning experiences I’ve since come across elsewhere. Overall, this felt like a bait-and-switch situation: one set of expectations is communicated upfront, and a very different reality is presented once you are in the office. Patients deserve full transparency—especially when they specifically ask about costs in advance. If you do consider this practice, I strongly recommend getting every fee clearly outlined in writing before your visit.
Extremely disappointing and frankly unacceptable experience. Dr. Amersi’s office refused to let me even meet or speak with her unless I first paid a $1,000 concierge fee. I made it very clear to her nurse that I simply wanted a brief initial consultation to see if it was a good fit before committing—something completely reasonable when choosing an OB/GYN. Instead, I was denied any access unless I paid upfront. At one point, Dr. Amersi herself came out, looked directly at me, and walked away without saying a word. It was cold, dismissive, and incredibly unprofessional. For a doctor working in such a sensitive, patient-centered field, this level of disregard is shocking. There was zero effort to make me feel comfortable, welcomed, or even acknowledged as a potential patient. Los Angeles is full of highly qualified OB/GYNs who manage to be both skilled and compassionate—this office is not one of them. I would never recommend Dr. Amersi to anyone looking for care, respect, or basic human decency in a physician.
Dr Amersi is smart, thoughtful, direct and kind. She has made a great impact on my life and overall well being. Dr Amersi allows me to prioritize my own health as the central caretaker in my own family. I am so thank-full for her guidance and care.
Dr. Amersi is such a kind, compassionate and thorough doctor. She takes her time asking questions and answering yours, and she treats you like an individual -- not with a one-size-fits-all approach. Highly competent, I always feel like I'm in safe hands. She has warm, positive energy, which is important to me, and she makes me feel like we're a team. I highly recommend her.

No words can properly express my gratitude to Dr. Amersi and her staff for going above and beyond to make me feel supported and cared for throughout my high risk pregnancy. Even though I don't live close to Dr. Amersi's office, she's 100% worth the drive and I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate OB/GYN in the LA/OC area.
For years I felt like something was off, but never had clear answers. Dr. Amersi took the time to truly listen and thoroughly review my hormonal bloodwork. In just two appointments, she diagnosed me with PCOS. I finally feel seen, understood, and relieved to have answers after such a long journey!!!
Genuinely a very good doctor but you can get there early and they’ll make you wait 20m after your appointment time just to put you in a room to wait another 20m before she comes. It’d be nice if after all that waiting she didnt rush, but she ends up going so fast that you barely remember to ask your questions and, before you realize it, the whole thing is over in 5 minutes. She helped me a lot and you can tell she’s well informed but for all the money it costs to get an appointment I wish I wouldn’t have to wait an hour before a 10m consultation
Dr. Amersi has truly changed my life, she treats her patients holistically. Her immense knowledge and care is a rarity in medicine these days. I’m so glad I found her!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
