Ver patient, professional, and kind. Cured my daughter’s acne that seemed incurable.
He is very pleasant, professional & easy to interact with and gives you the time necessary to understand what is at issue. Would recommend to anyone looking for answers to their dermatology questions.
Waiting in the waiting room for 45 minutes after my appointment time. The receptionist said I should expect at least one hour. I realize the doctors time is very valuable. for the doctor to assume our time is not valuable in any way is pretty rude.
Appointments are booked out about 2 months, then a very long wait time at time of appointment.
This doctor told me I had eczema, when in fact I have a pre-cancerous skin condition. He gave me less than 3 minutes of his time, and never bothered with a biopsy. Furthermore, he put me through light therapy without knowing what my skin lesions really were. He also never discussed the risk of skin cancer with this treatment. I won't go back to him.
NEW to the area, with a new insurance provider. I got to the doctor's office about 2 o'clock , and went in to fill out all the paperwork associated with a first-time visit. When the walk in clinic open at 2:30 , I got right in. Pleasantly surprised . By the time I got done petting the comfort puppies my barnacle was removed..quick as that! I must say that I actually enjoyed my visit! It was definitely worth the hour-and-a-half drive from Fort Bragg.
After living with sorortic arthritis for 30 years and several Dr's having no clue what was wrong with me Dr Degroot took one look at me and diagnosed me. He is helping me get my condition under control and u am very grateful. He is smart and listens to me. I am very happy with the back office staff also, they call and keep me included in the conservation.
I have used many dermatologists over the years and care under Dr. Degroot was I would expect. What I didn't care for were billing practices. I always pay my medical bills. Two times I was referred to credit agencies for not paying bills on time. Also I didn't like his offices attempts to get me to use high priced out of the area pharmacies based in LA that tried to push prescriptions that my insurance company would't cover. My insurance covered all office visits up front. However on my last visit they demanded a 25 dollar payment up front. The 25 dollar office visit did not show up in my billing statement! When I asked about it they didn't answer. I will no longer be doing any business with this office even though the care I received was quite adequate. Making money seems to be their primary concern.
I scheduled an appt and had to wait over a month to get in. Day before the appt his office called and said said doc will be out today, please call to reschedule. So I reschedule, and waited over a month again to get in. During the appointment I felt rushed. A few months later I needed another appointment and I scheduled. It was another month to wait to get in. Day before my appointment his office called and said doc won't be in today , please call to reschedule. Grrrrrrrr. I'm going somewhere else.
He does the most expensive treatment possible and then has his assistant call and harass you if you don't come back. I had a very small precancerous lesion on my forehead. He took it off when he took the biopsy. It was gone and did not come back, but his office called me twice harassing me because I did not come back. She yelled at me over the phone "Do you want to keep your cancer?" These people are awful.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
