Classic “don’t care” doctor

My regular doc was busy, so I was given a phone consultation with an associate, Dr. Cooper to see if I should go on PAXLPVID for my recent COVID diagnosis. The office called male and did the pre visit call, confirming my current meds. What they had on fil was correct. Dr. Cooper asked me about symptoms and said I should definitely get on paxlovid asap. He said nothing about changing any medications I currently take. 2 days later I learned that Paxlovid should never be taken at the same time as my medication (flecaonide) which I take for atrial fibrillation because of very high risk of serious cardiac side effects. . This info is clearly stated on every webpage that discusses Paxlovid dangers. There is a high risk of dangerous cardiac problems. I had just taken both meds when I read this. I made myself throw up all the meds I just took and called my doctor's office. Dr. Cooper did not call me back, but my own doc did and he apologized. Nice, but of course I am still very umdisappointed.

We saw Dr. Cooper after a CAT scan for a blood clot also showed a very small tumor on my husband's kidney. Without pause, he announced that surgery would be needed immediately to prevent spread of renal cell carcinoma. Two weeks later, a specialist refuted this knee-jerk diagnosis. More tests are needed for accurate diagnosis and it's highly unlikely that a tumor this size would have spread. Meanwhile, we experienced two weeks of unnecessary anxiety and, at significant expense and disappointment, we followed Dr. C's explicit advice to cancel a long-awaited family trip. As the specialist said, he just wanted to shuffle you along. This is not my idea of a competent, thorough, compassionate doctor.

Very caring and kind

I recently moved here from the University of Florida healthcare system. I find it fortunate that I located Dr. Cooper here in Santa Rosa.He is professional, courteous, a good listener, and very thorough. He is also very personable, reassuring, and truly consultive with the patient and their needs and thoughts.Most of the negatives I have read here have to do with either office management, the clinical lab, or the patients not understanding how medical offices work today, and their comments have nothing to do with Dr. Cooper.Remember, you are going to see the doctor, not the office. I can assure you that you will receive excellent care from this physician, and you shouldn't hesitate trying to get in to see him.

I have never posted a Yelp review on anything or anyone but I have to this time. We needed to find a PCP to follow my father-in-law and Dr Cooper was accepting patients. It was an awful experience - he was unresponsive and condescending in person and unreachable outside of appointment times, with no responses to written, phone, or email requests. I went to his office and his front desk assistant was so mean and awful, I can't even put into words how terrible she was. She said that I could fill out a written request for a return call "if I wanted to over do it." We finally figured out that we had to go to the hospital at 6 a.m. if we wanted to speak with him. Just not ok, all the way around.

I had to leave Kaiser and I needed to find a new doctor. Luckliy I stumbled upon Dr Cooper. I thought Dr. Cooper was an extremely thorough doctor with excellent patient repore. He is obviously very busy but took time to check out my concerns and do a thorough checkup. I don't understand some of the negative reviews. Maybe some of the support staff are a little stuffy but Dr Cooper is a down to earth, competent, and personable guy. I highly recommend him.

Great doctor, very knowledgeable and compassionate

Dr. Cooper is an amazing doctor. Very knowledgeable, professional and with great bed manners. He takes his time and makes sure he answers all your questions and that you are comfortable and confident that you are getting the best care. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. I'm really glad that I chose Dr. Cooper and his office. Highly recommended.

Dr. Cooper has helped me negotiate through a maize of health issues and has brought me a long in a very compassionate way. He has made me feel important as an individual with each visit. I count myself to be very lucky to have found him.
