WOW - so very impressed with Dr. Ponzio. She took extra time to meet with our teenager, and then separately with me, after I had explained (via a note sent in advance of the appointment) that our child had been in trauma therapy, and had been experiencing some extraordinarily difficult circumstances & symptoms. Though a previous blood test that Dr. Ponzio had ordered showed 'normal' levels (hemoglobin, hematocrit, and RBC), she noted that they were nonetheless on the low side and that, coupled with the symptoms described, warranted another, more thorough test. She said she felt that our child was, "Using everything just to keep those levels just above normal". SHE WAS RIGHT ON THE MONEY! Our child's ferritin test, which measures the primary iron storage protein in the body, was EXTREMELY low! She NAILED it! She was also just the right mix of compassionate and thoughtful considering our delicate situation, while not overstepping ("Keep up with the therapy", she advised). Thank you!
