I had a great experience with Dr. Kim. I found a suspicious spot a week before I was due to have a baby, and the office got me in quickly and Dr. Kim removed it. The biopsy was inconclusive so just to be safe I agreed to have more removed. Because I was moving out of area (and about to deliver!), Dr Kim came in early for me the very next day to take care of it. He didn't tell me he did that or make any reference to it at all, I'm certain though because it was a bit earlier than the typical first appointment of the day. I also found him to be very forthright, caring and reassuring. And in the end, the mildly abnormal lesion wasn't cancerous. :) If I still lived in town, Dr Kim would be my go-to dermatologist.

What a wonderful dermatologist! He found a tiny spot I was certain was benign, and it turned out to be an early-stage melanoma! His calm demeanor included a willingness to answer every question, immediately remove the spot, call me a day later when the lab indicated it was cancer, and the next Monday took out a deeper cut to make sure we got everything. Glad to report the "roots" hadn't gone far, and he called several times to tell me directly.We are lucky to have him in our community, and I myself am thankful for his service to keeping me healthy. I recommend him without reservation. I am glad to say that the "cold approach" described earlier must be about someone else. That's sure not my experience.

I LOVE this dr's handiwork!Having lived on the beach for a big chunk of my life, I am not a newbie when it comes to skin cancer. Dr. Kim diagnosed a small basal cell cancer on my arm, and he performed a small surgery to remove it. He's quick and nearly painless. The stitches look perfect. Will be going to this doc for my skin checks.

Dr Kim is the best! He was able to diagnose my hypertrophic scar and give me recs on treatment. He also saw my baby's eczema and gave recs on how to treat it over the counter. Very friendly and takes time to listen to patient history. Would definitely see again.

I'm sad to say that I didn't have the same experience with Dr. Kim as the previous reviewer did. He has a very cold approach...has horrible bed side manner and he isn't informative at all. Getting him to answer your questions is near impossible!I don't know if I'm spoiled because I have an amazing primary physician who I've been with for years but I was so disappointed after my visit AND after my call with him today I can confidently say I will never in million years go back to him. Some advice for Dr. Kim:I know you're a young doctor but you need to work on your approach. Learn to communicate with your patients better because if you don't, you won't have any patients stick around...

Both me and my daughter have seen Dr. Kim and would recommend him strongly.He removed a mole in my hair that was bugging me whenever I comb. The novocaine injection was quick and almost painless, and the whole procedure took less than a minute. I brought in my 14 year old daughter for acne a few weeks later. He gave us a plan for morning, afternoon, and bedtime, and reviewed the plan one more time before we left. He took a picture of my daughter's acne for future reference. After wasting over a hundred $$$ on various products we are glad to finally have an acne regimen that is working. We would have seen him sooner if we knew acne treatment was covered by my insurance.

I went to see Dr. Kim for my annual skin cancer screening. He was on time - actually 3 minutes early - and gave me the most thorough skin check I ever got! He found precancers on my forehead and treated them right at that appointment. So glad this young doctor came to Santa Cruz. We need more dermatologists in our area.
