Chung-Kwan Yen's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Yen is indeed a very good surgeon. I just wish these guys were not running an establishment which gives false information to force patients to pay a lot more money after the procedure. My wife was in need to wisdom tooth extraction and we were referred to Dr. Yen for the same. Before the start of procedure, we confirmed with them if they are in-network (Metlife PPO). They said that they are in-network and gave an estimate of 190/- USD which we paid. After 2 weeks, we got a bill from Yen Oral surgery showing a balance amount of 250/- !! The claim they submitted with Metlife was for out-of-network. When I called up Metlife , they told me that Dr. Yen has specifically asked to be removed from network in the beginning of the 2021 (much before my wife's procedure). So convenient for them to not share this information. Today I went to Yen Oral to clarify this and I was told that "we are not partners with Metlife but we are a part of bigger umbrella which is partner with Metlife". I don't even know what that means because ultimately, they are out-of-network but claiming that they are in-network. I also asked if they provide estimates without checking with insurance provider. Based on the claim filed, the estimate should have been around 400/- USD instead of 190/-. For this, the only response was "I am sorry". I am going to take this up with my referring doctor and Metlife. But, please steer clear of Yen Oral to avoid this situation. That is, unless you want to be slapped by charges which are more than twice of initial estimate. Do Not Trust these guys.

Dr. Yen is great! I extracted all 4 of my wisdom teeth in 1 procedure with Dr. Yen. I thought I would have prolonged pain during and for a while after the surgery given my bottom teeth was growing sideways making it more difficult to extract. However, I was so surprised on how little to no pain I felt during and after the surgery. Dr. Yen really did a great job!I highly recommend Dr. Yen for your dental procedures.

Dr. Kevin Yen is awesome. My wife got her wisdom teeth removed today. The procedure was completed in a short time, and my wife only feel minor discomfort afterwards. The front desk staffs and Dr. Yen are friendly, and professional, and patience. The procedure was explained fully beforehand, and the fees was itemized and printed before the procedure. 5+ start, I definitely would recommend this place if you need wisdom teeth removal.

Dr Yen is amazing! I gotten my wisdom teeth taken out over the summer and everything healed nicely as expected. He was very friendly and made sure I was comfortable before starting the procedure. I needed to take out all 4 of my wisdom teeth at once. The procedure was not that long and I didn't feel any pain afterwards. The staff at the front are also very friendly! After a few days, they called to check up on me to make sure everything is okay. A week after my surgery, I went back for a check up with Dr Yen and he told me everything is healing well. Definitely would recommend this place if you need wisdom teeth removal!

Dr. Yen is really as good as it gets! My 16-year-old nephew needed to get four teeth pulled before getting his braces. He was terrified! After Dr.Yen spoke to him about the procedure, he was not scared anymore. The office was busy that day but Dr.Yen was very patient while answering all our questions. We did not feel rushed. The office is very clean. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. You will not find a more thorough and detailed oral surgeon like Dr. Yen. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who cares about being treated by good honest people who are experts in their field.

I had 2 implants done and Dr Yen did great work. I had some other work done at another oral surgeon in Milpitas and it was a very bad experience. I highly recommend Dr Yen!

Got two bottom widsom teeth removed last week. I was really afraid and spent months to make my mind. I chose local drug instead of IV drug as I don't like to loss consciousness. The worst part was the drug. I felt nothing during the extraction which was a really interesting experience. After the surgery, they gave me a prescription and I got them nearby.After I got home, I cannot stop my right side from bleeding for 6 hours and I panicked because I ran out of the gauzes Dr. Yen gave me. I drove to CVS and got some new gauzes. Finally, I realized I didn't put the gauze deep enough so the spot was not covered at all. Make sure you put your gauze DEEP ENOUGH. Once I got the right spot, it stopped bleeding.NO PAIN AT ALL after the anesthesia till now!!! It has been one week and I almost return to my normal diet! So exciting I can bite again!

Although the staff at this facility was friendly, I did not appreciate the poor communication between the surgeon and staff. I specifically requested the cost of my visit before signing the paperwork and being seen. I was told it would be about $30. I proceeded. When I finally was seen by the surgeon, Dr. Yen, he began asking me why I was there even though he had a referral with all the details. After this, he then proceeded to tell me that "Anyone missing teeth for a long period of time will experience bone loss" He said that in order to perform an accurate consultation it will require a cat scan to determine the amount of bone loss experienced. The cost of this procedure was ridiculous and not covered. The bottom line is I spent an hour and the deductible for absolutely nothing. If I was told upfront what the surgeon clearly already knew, that a cat scan was required, I would not have gone through with the visit and would not have wasted my time and money.

Came back again to pull my top wisdom teeth - same quick and thorough procedure with Dr. Chung K Yen. I was able to do consultation, panoramic x-ray, and the surgery all within an hour. No tears or sweat involved for an infamously scary procedure if you book it with Dr Yen!

Dr. Yen came to us highly recommended by Arbor Dental Group. He is the only oral surgeon me and my family will use. He's done great work for us all on our dental needs over the years. He's a great family man with a wonderful sense of humor. Really makes the whole dental surgery experience undaunting. Thanks, Dr. Yen! :)
