List of Deirdre Lum's Reviews
Dr. Lum is very thorough, takes her time to go through all of my history and explains in detail what is going on, what to expect, and how to manage
Prior to my surgery Dr. Lum made me feel informed & "heard". Unfortunately, my surgery did not go as planned, resulting in a significant trauma response from me. I gave her 5 stars for her exceptional support, professionalism & dedication to me as her patient. Not only did her response ease a rather overwhelming situation she empowered me in a way I've never felt before, nor since. Medical treatment, in my experience, imparts a sense of helplessness over my body & care. There is a reluctant feeling if surrender that occurs. Dr. Lum truly had a tramendous impact on my post surgical experience. I was diagnosed later the same year with Breast Cancer. I longed to find similarly natured physicians within the oncology team but all I found was disappointment. I felt like a COGS, a paper number pulled at the counter. It was truly horrific. Dr. Lum affected me and my life wonderfully & it seems unlikely that i will successfully convey the significance of that within this platforms limited ability to relay such.
She messed up my surgery and because of that I lost one of my kidney!
It's very unfortunate that she is one of few endometriosis excision surgeons in the Bay Area. She was only able to give me a second opinion after a completely unnecessary $3000 MRI that she required. I had already provided her with an MRI that was done a little over a year ago but apparently that was not enough for her to recommend that I take Lupron for 3 months -- a drug that has permanent, irreversible side effects. Horrible experience with this doctor and her team. She is not confident and I would never have any kind of surgery with her.

I have had an amazing experience with Dr. Lum and the whole team at Stanford gynecology. At my first appointment she really listened to all my concerns and spent so much time talking to me about my options. She has a great bedside manner and did not make me feel rushed during the appointment. I would highly recommend making an appointment with her.
She is so cold and impersonal! I have st4 endo, PCOS, and UC. I also have 5 surgeries under my belt. I was referred to her as someone to see for regular check-ups as I have somewhat of a special case beyond what an average OBGYN can handle. Yeah, no thanks. She never even made eye contact with me the entire time, typing away at her keyboard. Didn’t seem phased by my daily pain, either. Why some people become doctors is beyond me.
Nope! I was referred to her and didn’t have a good experience. She was cold, dismissive and hardly smiles. Also with a very big ego. She also behaved the opposite spectrum of inappropriateness towards my spouse when he came with me, improper and tactless.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
