Elizabeth Mcaninch's Online Review Report Card

Dismissive of concerns about medication side effects and only goes by what test results say and nothing else. Seems to expect everything to be as it is in a medical textbook and won’t listen to anything else. Zero empathy.

Doctor left the practice when a better job came along and didn't properly inform patients so they could find a new doctor. I only discovered she was gone a month before my assumed appointment. She had been gone for a Year at that point.

My first visit with Dr. Mac went well; she listened and took her time, it was one of the longest visits I've had with a specialist. She identified lab tests for me that were difficult to obtain elsewhere that could give more accurate information on what was going on with my hashimoto's and thyroid cancer follow up. However, a big reason that is leading me to seek care elsewhere is that I have told her multiple times that I do not have any interest in having children and yet she continues to bring up my endocrine care in the case of pregnancy. It's uncomfortable, feels pushy, and I don't want to continue repeating myself on the subject. Another reason is that Rush is out of network for me and the special lab test she sends off to the mayo clinic is insanely expensive, when my partner and I understood it as a free service as a part of a clinical research study. Just too much money and not the ideal care I'm looking for.

Dr. McAninch nearly cost me my life. I saw her for severe weight gain, heart issues, oragan issues, and a long list of symptoms that pointed to possible Cushing's Disease. At my two appointments she literally laughed at me, told me Cushing's is "too rare", and then drastically lowered my thyroid medication. The second appointment she told me it must be PCOS (even though my testosterone was low, not high), and that there was nothing she could do, so I should go home and stop stressing. My heart issues continued to worsen, and I ended up going to another doctor......they found the tumor in my pituitary, and did the testing to confirm Cushing's Disease. They also found I have severe Adult Growth hormone deficiency that was weakening my heart muscles. If I had listened to Dr. McAninch I would be dead right now. Nothing like laughing at your patients, rather than actually helping them.....

She listens, she cares, and she is just brilliant. I think she gets excited when explaining what is going on in our bodies. She knows there isn't a chart to go to to fix one and all. I had been struggling to feel good for many years when I decided to see Dr. McAninch and she worked individually with me to find the right medication to get me feeling like I did pre diagnosis. (Hashimotos) Thank you!!

Dr. Mac is the best endocrinologist in Chicago. Hands down. Highly intelligent, great bedside manner, actually cares about your health. Uses her background, training and expertise to get you on the path to wellness. My health improved quickly under her care, this after struggling under the care of other endocrinologists for several years. Can't thank her enough. If you're looking for an endo in Chicago, make an appointment with Dr. McAninch! You won't regret it!

Dr. Mac is great! Her bedside manner is awesome and she actually takes the time to listen to her patients! She's the first person to ever answer some thyroid and fertility questions I had and I am very happy she is on my health care team!

She's brilliant! Seriously! I was not happy with all that she did, but there no denying that she is one of the most intelligent doctors I've ever had.

Dr. McAninch made dramatic changes in my Meds under the concern that I was over medicated for my Hashimoto's and was asymptomatic hyperthyroid. She reduced my Cytomel from 50mcg to 5mcg and told me to be patient as we found the right dose. I immediately started experiencing symptoms as my body slipped into continually declining health. Within 5mo, I had gained 70#,slept constantly,had muscle/joint pain constantly,barely functioned, and yet there was little acknowledgement of my health problems.

Dr. McAninch is a brilliant doctor. In one visit she was able to find out out the root cause of a series of symptoms my PCP has been trying to treat for three years with no avail. She has excellent bedside manner - she tries to know her patients well, studies her patients' cases prior to meeting them and is great at explaining things. She also goes above and beyond her duties - she personally communicates with me through e-mail and is very easy to reach. Best doctor I've ever had.
