List of Ucla Health Thousand Oaks Primary & Specialty Care's Reviews
So far I've had good experience with UCLA. I've had always good experience at their other locations.
It is very convenient that UCLA satellite healthcare facilities is near to you. For those who want or need to consult the doctor who teaches in prestigious institutions such as UCLA Medical School, you are in the right place. The satellite offices spread around Thousand Oaks in the west to Calabasas/Woodland Hills with many specialist. Some specialist are located as wide spread as in Burbank and Saugus.Let me point out the obvious CONs why I rate this institution a bit lower ranking than I may have:(1) scheduling is a "beach"! You'd better not miss your appointment or reschedule your appointment can be a few months waiting period. You may have option to see other doctors since certain specialists may have their offices close by you.(2) Some doctors may not be in your preferred network. That means more outta pocket money from you. It happened to me once. So, when in doubt, check with your insurance prior to scheduling.(3) No ER or urgent care available. On the other hand, this institution has:(a) convenience: most specialist are close by(b) latest technologies, techniques, and medicines are available for you.(c) All doctors are most likely to explain to you the cause, remedy, and best of all will treat you with latest technology & medication. If they eliminate #(1) & (2) items above, I should have given them a perfect five stars.'
I have been patient of UCLA Health just after they came to the Conejo Valley. I have seen a number of different doctors in several specialties and have been treated with kindness and concern. My questions are answered clearly and they will repeat answers when I seem to not understand. The portal allows me to ask questions outside having to come into the office. And if it requires a bigger explanation or examination, they reach out to tell me to come in. I am glad to have such excellent doctors and medical services available.
Called to schedule an appointment. After sitting on hold for over 10 minutes, I was asked (by an automated system) I wanted to request a callback for later in the day. I requested a callback and when the callback came, it was a recording which asked me to hold and I sat on hold for another 10 minutes. I gave up and decided to try a different doctor.
For some reason, Yelp.com removed my previous review, so here I go again. I have nothing but good things to say about the doctors, but the billing practices are very shady. In the last year alone, I had at least 3 occurrences where I was wrongfully billed or just the amount they billed was outrageous. For a less than 30 minutes visit with the Primary doctor where I was not even examined, they charged me around 900 dollars and after calling them multiple times to try to negotiate this amount, the answer I got was "NO".I had an upcoming CT Scan scheduled with them and in order to avoid other negative surprises, I called the office in advance to get an estimate. They tried to avoid giving me a number at all costs, but as I insisted, they finally told me that would cost me around USD 1700. I called Rolling Oaks Radiology and not only they had an opening a week earlier but also the cost for the exact same service will be USD 189 which means a bit over 1/10 of UCLA cost.Again, the doctors are great, but I don't think they worth the nightmare that we have to go through from a financial perspective. I would avoid them at all costs. By the way, just canceled all the upcoming appointments with them.

Seems to be overwhelmed with workflow as it’s difficult to schedule time and none of my messages are responded to by Dr McCarthy, always staff/nurses even medical procedure follow up. As a PCP, I’m not of the mind my care is not being managed, it’s often left to me to follow up, as Dr McCarthy seems to be more reactive than proactive.
UCLA health over charges for services. My family followed our pediatrician to this new company only to be bill shocked with our first visit. We returned to old office with new pediatrician. Rates are 4-5 times higher for same services. Sad we had to let our family doctor go.
Be careful when going here. Make sure you check with your insurance to make sure everything is covered including their "consultation" as this is something that your insurance will only cover up to $150. I was billed $945 and my insurance covered $464.34. I am now responsible for the balance. I went to various doctors in the past and not until now that I've became a patient at UCLA health that I've come across such outrageous charges. Guess what, going else where for my medical needs.
Hamed Nayeb-Hashemi, MDI recently had a colonoscopy and endoscopy performed by Dr Hashemi. He explained the procedures thoroughly and answered all the questions I had. He was knowledgeable, patient, and caring. In short, he was incredible. Additionally, his staff was exemplary. Thank you Dr. Hashemi!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
