Dr. Tarpley is amazing! He did a phenomenal job during my husband's stroke intervention. He is the most down to earth human being. He made us feel comfortable and important, not just like a number on his patient chart. You can tell how much he loves his job and how good he is at it by the way he takes the time to explain things in detail. I have no words to describe how grateful we are that my husband was placed in his hands after his stroke. We are Kaiser patients, but so fortunate that Kaiser made the right call by transferring my husband to Little Company in Torrance and that we got Dr. Tarpley as his surgeon. We just had his one month follow up and Dr. Tarpley was as amazing as ever. Explained everything in detail and made sure we understood it all, and answered all questions. He rocks!

Dr. Tarpley was instrumental in saving my mother's life (and preserving her current quality of life) during a recent stroke that she suffered. He is highly capable, highly skilled, and has a warm and professional bedside manner. Dr. Tarpley is extremely knowledgeable and explains everything in terms you can understand. He’s compassionate and spends as much time with you as needed to answer all questions and make you feel at ease. The procedure he performed was very successful despite the challenges of various health issues. If we could give Dr. Tarpley more than five stars, we would!

Dr. Tarpley is a star. My dad had a stroke in the early morning and we found out and got him to Little Company of Mary hospital (LCOM) within a few hours. LCOM was great from the start. He had a CAT scan and was being prepped for the procedure within 15 min. Dr. Tarpley discussed what the choices were with me, while my dad was being prepped. He answered all my questions, clearly, and laid out what would be done. The stroke was confined to the communication center of the brain and my dad could not speak coherently. My main question is always, “If this was a family member what would you do?” Dr. Tarpley, without hesitation said, “This is the place I would bring them and this is the procedure I would have done.” And this really put me at ease. I had to make the decision quickly and felt very confident in Dr. Tarpley. The procedure went remarkably well. While my dad couldn’t speak coherently that day, nor the next morning. But the nurse he had in ICU had him speaking slowly and coherently by the next night. Dr. Tarpley spoke to my wife (a retired nurse) and I the next morning about the positives and concerns he had going forward. We spoke for at least 15 minutes. He didn’t rush us and gave us a map for my father’s care going forward. What to push for and what to ask for with Kaiser. My wife was very impressed with the time and care he took with us. I felt very confident in my dad’s recovery. My dad has Kaiser Permanente for his primary care and was transferred there the second night. I am far less happy with his care there. Dr. Tarpley called again a couple of days later to check on my dad’s progress. I told him that no Kaiser doctors had contacted me, yet. Again, he didn’t rush me and answered all my questions. I absolutely loved the care we got from Dr. Tarpley and LCOM. Can’t recommend them highly enough.
