Dr. Brucker is fantastic! Both of my daughters like her because she is kind, professional and explains everything clearly. She listens to their concerns and answers their questions patiently. She treats them with respect. We are so thankful we found Dr. Brucker three years ago when we were looking for a primary care physician!

She's a very competent and kind doctor. She's dedicated to her job and has the most phenomenal nurse, Jenny. So why 3-stars?If your child is in the throes of an eating disorder, this is the doctor you want. She knows what she's doing. However, she only knows eating disorders. She doesn't recognize improvement, won't call out other doctors on the team who may be harming your child, and she's not knowledgeable enough about anything else. For example, when she orders a blood work panel, something can be low or high for a variety of reasons. She only recognizes eating disorder related reasons, and she'll see that even if she knows your child has a secondary condition or is taking medication, which affects your labs in the same way. If your child gets better but loses weight because they've developed another condition that causes weight loss, she won't believe you. She'll insist that your child still has an eating disorder and will refuse to be of any help. The ramifications of this can be life threatening. I'm speaking vaguely as this is my child, but the best thing we did was drop her and the entire team. I'm not exaggerating when I say my child would have died if we hadn't found new doctors for her. But, if your child has an active eating disorder, she really is a great doctor to have. You just have to trust yourself and your child when it comes to healing. It's scary to do that but necessary! Of note as well, she's affiliated with Torrance Memorial, which has an eating disorder wing. They will push residential. Torrance Memorial gets paid to push you into residential as they have a contract with them. The pressure can feel enormous and filled with guilt. You, the parent, do not have to say yes. You are in charge. You have final say. They make it appear like they get to decide for you, and you have no choice. You know your child better than they do. Perhaps your kiddo does need residential. But don't do it simply because they say so.
