Dr Nakhl told my mom her cancer was resolved and when my mom told him she felt like she had a tumor growing he told her it was all in her head and to just double up on her pain meds. He decided to abruptly stop her chemo treatments saying she was in remission. A month later while trying to get a 2nd opinion she got admitted to the hospital because a tumor was causing a small bowel obstruction. The hospital had a specialist in gyno oncology and he performed the colonoscopy. He asked why her oncologist had stopped care that he should had never stopped treatment. That's when my mom's cancer started winning the war, my mom past away cuhs this doctor decided to stop treatment and not listen to my mom about her symptoms and repeatedly telling her it was in her head. WELL IT WASN'T HER IMAGINATION, & NOW SHES DEAD. Thanks for nothing.Dr Nakhl told my mom her cancer was resolved and when my mom told him she felt like she had a tumor growing he told her it was all in her head and to just double up on her pain meds. I had an excellent physician who initially took care to treat me. However, shortly at the end stages of my treatments the doctor left the Torrance location without prior notice. I later discovered that he left the practice to go to City of Hope, which he was well qualified to practice. Although, he was an excellent oncologist, I have been left to pick up the pieces of my care within the Torrance location. I feel like an abandoned patient in that since that time, I have been given appointments with more than 2 different medical doctors abruptly. Meaning office staff called me on short notice to indicate that my appointments were rescheduled without my consent and in some instances the appointments were changed on the actual day of the appointment itself. For example, after I was checked in to see one doctor the staff would then inform me of the switch to another doctor on the day of the appointment. However, even though this took place, I was understanding and opted to just go along with the flow of these sudden changes in scheduling of my follow up appointments. Then when this situation happened once again wherein my newly assigned oncologist of whom I saw for only a total of two follow-up visits was suddenly re-assigned to the San Gabriel office without prior notice and upon short notice which was on the day of my scheduled appointment with this practitioner, I was left once again without an oncologist. Then, the day that I was supposed to see my newly assigned oncologist Dr. Chung, who remained as the only practicing oncologist at the Torrance location, I was then randomly re-assigned from my appointment with this oncologist to a nurse practitioner by the office staff at the Torrance location on the day of my initial appointment scheduled with Dr. Chung. To make matters worse this occurred right when my condition began to advance. Although, I did end up seeing Dr. Chung while recently being admitted to the hospital. I was then scheduled by the nurse practitioner to see him upon discharge in order to receive important pathology results which will determine the need for further direction in my treatment care options. However, the nurse practitioner that I was assigned to is now gone out understandingly on medical leave and now the staff have just informed me that my appointment with Dr. Chung is now been rescheduled with some other new physician for my next visit? This is unacceptable. I am so displeased and feel that continuity of my care is being poorly managed especially at this critical point in my care. Please Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation Torrance stop shuffling your oncology patients around. I need my care to be provided efficiently with consistent oversight of an oncologist. Please stop dropping my care in the lap of multiple oncologist at this location. I can not bear this type of treatment any longer. Will someone address this issue soon?I had an excellent physician who initially took care to treat me. This practice is so far removed from the name! There is no, "Hope" or, "Innovation" here that awaits you. I will forever hold them responsible for the loss of my father. Be ready to deal with a staff that rotates like the weather and is completely unqualified at doing their jobs. Be ready for a doctor that blames his own inadequacies on his staff, and practices with a level of aloof disinterested arrogance. Be ready to argue with the doctor that you disagree with his negative interpretation of a test (a test he said was not needed, but was our right to ask for). Be ready to cry when you find out from other concerned members of your medical team that you were right, and that the cancer had indeed spread ruthlessly! Be ready to find out on your own accord that there were already successful chemo cocktails specifically made to target the cancer at hand, and then find out it was now too late for them to help. Be ready to point out to the doctor that a genetic study was done on the tumor clearly showing the patient would have been a great candidate for that treatment, and to have the doctor simply brush it off and tell you, "We're not there yet." Well we were there...we were there months earlier!!Please be aware that you will have to know every detail about your care. You will have to follow up constantly, and you will get nowhere even when you complain to the corporate office. The oncologist we went to see after leaving this office did more in one day than the Oncology Institute did in months and months of ongoing treatment...the cocktail was started immediately, but my father died because it was too late. There are so many wonderful oncologists in the South Bay. I do not recommend this office at all, in fact, I would avoid it at all costs!**The office reached out to me when they saw my post. Against my better judgement, I accepted their request to be contacted by their department head. Well in true and consistent form, NO CONTACT WAS RECEIVED! Honestly, this place just does not care!!

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
