After a slip/fall, I suffered a full tear of my hamstring and spent one full week bedridden and in terrible pain at Little Company of Mary in San Pedro (LCMSP) because the orthopedic surgeon affiliated with that hospital was not a hamstring surgeon and would not treat the injury. I took an ambulance to Torrance Memorial to begin the ER process all over again. The surgery was performed and literally 15 hours post-surgery I was discharged home with crutches and in relatively little pain. Because I can contrast the treatment at TMMC with LCMSP I can give a 5 star to TMMC (I would give NO stars to LCMSP, however, the nurses were very nice).
Horrible emergency room! Do not come here!Horrible nurses and doctors that don’t keep you informed they just run tests and don’t keep you updated. Asking questions is forbidden or something because they get so bothered by it. I am sitting in front of the doctor and could hear everybody’s business they put my husband in the hallway with no room so I am in front of the station and could hear everything!! I told them and they don’t care.
This place is amazing, the nurse Alfred is the kindest and professional person I have ever met. He really take pride in his job and it shows. I am set up for a procedure today. He walked me through everything. To get this level of care is astonishing.
Similar to other customers who brought it up in the reviews below, we received a surprise bill from ER claiming that the actual doctor who consulted us was out-of-network and not covered by insurance. This is a known unethical scheme that some medical providers engage in, notoriously in situations when the patients have no control over who treats them, e.g., an anesthesiologist during the surgery. Fight it with the Hospital billing office and your insurance company, because it is fraudulent. Once you are inside an in-the-network facility, they must provide you with an in-the-network doctor.
The Nurses are pretty great and friendly!
Torrance Memorial Emergency Room Warning:Torrance Memorial uses an outside physician group for ER doctors which is not in-network for many PPOs. After ER discharge I received a surprise bill from "Torrance Emergency Physicians" for medical services associated with an ER visit at Torrance Memorial. TM hospital is in-network and facility charges were covered at the expected rate. The ER physician services were billed separately as out-of-network charges and I have to pay the balance - quite an unpleasant surprise. I will be avoiding Torrance Memorial for this reason alone, and will recommend others be very careful about billing when receiving medical services at Torrance Memorial.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
