List of Torrance Memorial Physician Network Primary Care 2900 Lomita's Reviews
Ive been a long member of Torrance Memorial Physician Network THIPA however things have changed. The physicians that Ive seen in the past are the best. The current physicians are the best. The ER is world class. But God forbid if you have any serious illness and require additional care youre not going to get it. Lets start with the recent MRI that was requested by my neurologist. First Im extremely severely clostraphobic and cannot go into the standard MRI machines. I have to go to a center that offers an an open MRI. By the way the best one is Westwood Open MRI. Anyway my approval came for the open MRI at a facility called Bay Harbor. I made my appointment and off I went to the Bay Harbor MRI facility. I walked into the room and laid on the bed the technician started rolling me into the MRI. Thats when all hell broke loose. I saw the top of the MRI machine about to knock my face mask off my face yes the top of the MRI machine was approximately 2 inches away from my face and I grabbed onto the top of the machine and said No No No No this is not happening. The technician stopped the machine and rolled me back out. She then said Ill send a request to your doctor for a sedative to calm you down. She went out and came to the little dressing room and handed me a postit with 10 mg Diazepan 30 min before MRI need driver. I told her I was told that this facility is an open MRI facility. The technician said because the sides are open its considered an open MRI. I didnt see any openings on the side. And if you look at Bay Harbors website they have this ultra modern MRI machine posted and thats NOT the machine they use. Hmmmm.....think this is false advertisement. I called my doctors office to report that the MRI had failed and I needed to be sent to a REAL open MRI facility and told them the machine looked like it was developed during World War I and it wasnt an open MRI machine. And forget about Covid19 guidelines because there were little to none at this facility. I dont believe they clean or sanitize either the dressing rooms or the MRI machine they use on their patients after each use. I later called the doctors office back and gave them the information on Westwood Open MRI and requested that I be sent there. My doctor agreed and immediately submitted the request to THIPA. Well THIPA came back after 13 days with a denial for me to go to an open MRI facility outside of their network. My doctor called THIPA administration to plead my case. THIPA adamantly denied our request to have an open MRI somewhere else knowing that I cannot go into those coffinlike MRI machines due to my clostrophobia. My insurance carrier SCAN also put in a request for the open MRI and THIPA DENIED the request saying if I want to go out of network it would be at my expense but they would not pay for it because they have their own facilities. So THIPA takes my premiums on a monthly basis and now refuses to provide the medical treatment theyve contracted themselves to do. Now let me say here that this process has been going on since September 2020. Im writing my review November 18 2020. My pain has become so unbearable at times that I had to double my dosage of medication which pretty much leaves me nonfunctional during the day. When you go to THIPAs enrollment meetings they brag about how they believe they are the best of the best that theyve partnered with Cedars Sinai Medical Center making them even greater than sliced toast. And if theres something they cannot do for you they will refer you over to Cedars Sinai. Well if they dont have an open MRI in their network why couldnt they refer me over to Cedars Sinai. We all know the answer......its the MONEY But Im warning you here and Im not one to jump on the internet and post crap stay away from THIPA if you value your health. Luckily its open enrollment and I can switch medical providers without waiting another year. But this means that I will have to start all over with another neurologist primary care provider and endocrinologist. Dont get me wrong. I love my current doctors. But I need to do whats best for me. I need to know whats causing this severe debilitating pain that Ive had for over a year. So Ill have to kick THIPA to the curb because they dont want to pay for an MRI. And administration doesnt give a rats butt about their patients. Just how much money they can bring in by denying services.Buyer beware
Staff is always very friendly they are on top of it when it comes to communication referral orders. NP is very kind always takes her time to hear me out. Highly recommend
I had a terrible experience with this network and doctor. The billing department was terribly disorganized requiring me to call several times for them to answer my questions. I was also told I had to take several tests that were later proven unnecessary incomplete and very expensive. Stay away.

I can not recommend TPN enough. They are the premier physicians for South Bay....TPN chooses only the best and I know this because I work in Healthcare and know that not all providers and facilities are equal. I have 100% confidence in COMPASSIONATE COMPETENT CARE Torrance Physicians Network provides in their state of the art facilities.
I make an appointment at 1045 and sit in the waiting room for over 30 minutes as people come in with later appointments than me and one by one get called in to see the doctor before me. Very unprofessional atmosphere.
I give this medical office a 0 if I could. I am embarassed for this office. I was a first time patient healthy requesting a physical. I wait 5ish weeks for apt. I get the text reminder 3 days and 1 day in advance and confirm. I arrive 25 min early to make sure to allow for paperwork.I am called back to get vitals taken care of prior to copay being collected and prior to my paperwork being completed. NO ONE introduced themselves to me As I am filling out the paperwork I see that the disclosure agreement is available upon viewing a website???? I asked for a hard copy and noticed that THEY FUNDRAISE????? and inorder to not be bothered by this you must fill out a form. I asked EVERYONE in the office....NO ONE EVER HEARD OF IT???They also can send off your medical info to research companies upon you signing on the line and NOT HAVING A COPY IN HAND. Then I meet Dr. Stern. The first person to introduce himself. He proceeds to tell me they dont do physicals on initial appoints but will quickly go over my body systems. I tell him about some symptoms of depression I was experiencing while he was typing in his computer... and the next question asked was do u have any symptoms of anxiety or depression??? It honestly hurt my feelings left me feeling deflated. I answered yes he reviewed the suicide survey and kept moving. As I was leaving I had to ask to pay my copay. It was not being collected. I also asked to hear from the office manager and have not.... my apt was on 2.6.19 and today is 2.20.19. P A T H E T I C
Ive had a horrible experience with their network. Its so disorganized and confusing and the billing department and records department give inconsistent and unreliable information. The billing department wont let up about a $75 copay that I have a receipt for paying less than a month ago They said theyd send me to collections if I didnt provide my personal bank statement proving I paid I obviously declined to do so and asked them to show proof I did not pay. Whats the point of a receipt if not to show you paid? I will never go back.
My experience was not good at all. Sloppy with paper work. Make medical statements and diagnoses on a whim. Liars. Unprofessional.
I have been with this fantastic place over 30 years Beginning with Dr. Haas then this current group of professionals Trust them with my life
