As I purge IVF documents, I finally am ready to leave my review from my experience from Q42023-1Q2024. After a traumatic miscarriage, my Kaiser doctor recommended Dr. Khorram. We researched various CA based and int'l clinics and determined his price point and convenient location was a good fit. We decided to embark on our IVF journey at 42. *At my initial consultation he advised he accepted PPO insurance which I acquired only to learn he went to a cash only model a few months later and suggested I submit receipts for reimbursement. The receipts had zero medical billing coding, so that went no where. *Ana & Claudia are phenomenal in managing the office. However, they're understaffed and obtaining instructions on pharmaceutical administration is overwhelming and chaotic. *My biggest gripe and reason for switching clinics: Dr. Khorram suggested I skip genetic testing as my body would naturally release the embryo which we accepted. Dr. Kim, however, pulled us in shortly after the implantation while I was drowsy and Dr. K had departed to sell us on genetic testing at $5K. Needless to say, it didn't take and Dr. Khorram reprimanded us for signing up for genetic testing. This infuriated me and let him know Dr. Kim preyed on us while in a vulnerable state. Apparently, it's been an issue and Dr. Kim "doesn't listen." I told him I felt bamboozled and decided to never return due to this lack of professionalism and lack of empathy. No frills is fine, but my experience was disgusting. May my experience help you discern and best of luck.
Im writing this with my new twins rocking in their chairs in front of me and could not be more grateful to all the staff at University Medical. The office is a no frills place, and the MD’s don’t sugar coat things but honestly it was kind of a testament to the effective work they do there. Their jobs are to help people get pregnant and they are good at that! Their prices also made IVF attainable for our family and with the uncertain nature of the a IVF experience, it was so reassuring to know that at least it was financially possible. I would recommend this clinic to anyone who understands the nature of the IVF process and who wants honest realistic expectations of what the process will look like.

We are beyond grateful to University Fertility Clinic for giving us the greatest gift of all—our beautiful son. From the very beginning, we felt supported and informed navigating the IVF process. Dr. Khorram, Dr. Kim, and the front office staff were exceptional— They are all knowledgeable and incredibly skilled at what they do. They walked with us every step of the way, offering not only their expertise but also encouragement throughout our journey. Thanks to their dedication and the wonderful team at the clinic, our dream of becoming parents has come true. We will be back when we are ready to grow our family again. We can't thank them enough and would wholeheartedly recommend University Fertility Clinic to everyone.
I HAVE TRIPLETS. NOW THEY ARE THREE HEALTHY 15-YEAR-OLD BOYS. THE DOCTOR OMID KHORRAM IS THE BEST! ...I GOT PREGNANT AT THE 2ND IVF (FROZEN EGGS). ALSO, TWO FRIENDS GOT PREGNANT AT THIS CLINIC; BOTH HAVE TWINS (GIRLS).
Dr Khurram is very knowledgeable and very experienced with the IVF process. Staff is good. Very good Embryologist Dr Kim he's also a motivational make you feel good person. They're very affordable compared to other places but without losing on expertise. This clinic gives you the best shot at miracle of life. One disclaimer is this place will not coddle you i am myself very direct to the point person and Dr Khurram is the same way just follow his very well documented thorough steps and you'll be in good hands he does answer all your questions too. Good luck to you in your journey.
I'm currently going through my IVF journey at this clinic, and before starting, I searched high and low for reviews to know what to expect. Unfortunately, most of what I found was outdated or not very detailed. So, I'm writing this for *you*--the anxious, worried soon-to-be parent (or maybe parent again?)--to help ease your stress and give you a clear idea of what to expect. For context, I'm a heterosexual married woman sharing my personal experience. Everyone's journey is different, but I hope this helps someone who was in my position a couple of months ago. General Overview This clinic is busy. I often felt like I was walking blindfolded through the process, wishing I had a clear roadmap ahead of time. If you're someone who likes to know every step before diving in, be prepared for a bit of uncertainty. That said, here's what I've learned so far. The People Front Desk Staff - Mainly Ana and Claudia, they're kind and supportive, always willing to help. Dr. Khorram (Reproductive Endocrinologist) - Straightforward and focused on getting the job done. He's not a big talker, so if you have questions, make sure to ask. Dr. Kim (Embryologist) - Encourages mindfulness and meditation, explaining how calming your heart can benefit you, your baby, and your life. I personally found this valuable, though some patients don't appreciate it. He does say you can ask him to skip the meditation talk if you'd prefer. Before Your Consultation To make the process smoother, I highly recommend having your lab work ready before scheduling your free consultation. Tests need to be within the past year. Required Lab Tests: For You: Day 3 Cycle Labs: AMH, FSH, Estradiol, Prolactin Other Tests: TSH, Hemoglobin A1C, Blood Type RH, Rubella, Anti-TPO STD Panel: Syphilis (RPR), Hep B Surface Antigen, Hep C Virus, HIV 1&2, HTLV 1&2, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea For Your Partner: STD Panel: Same as above Sperm Analysis Scheduling & Wait Times The clinic is technically open every day, but they seem to schedule most appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Appointments are usually in the afternoon, and wait times can range from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Be patient! Step-by-Step Process 1. Consultation Meet with Dr. Khorram Discuss your fertility situation and receive a treatment timeline, supplement recs Get a cost breakdown (so far, I've paid ~16k, including meds) Received birth control prescription Next Step: Call the clinic on Day 1 of your period to start birth control & schedule next visit. 2. First Visit (1 week after starting birth control) Saline sonogram to examine the uterus ($300 fee) Dr. K will tell you when to stop birth control and when to return (usually 10 days later, on M/W/Sa) 3. Second Visit Ultrasound & Office visit with Dr. K You & your husband will be prescribed antibiotics (1-week course) Start stimulation injections 2 days later Medications are ordered through the front desk. Heads-up: I was prescribed extra medication that I now don't need. Med prices on the clinic's info sheet were slightly outdated--expect a higher cost. You no longer need a money order; the pharmacy sends a payment link online. 4. Third Visit (Day 5 of Stims) Ultrasound & Office visit with Dr. K If you're new to injections and need pain-free tips, feel free to DM me! I took my injections at 6 AM & 6 PM (another clinic's nurse insisted on 6 PM for MEN, so I stuck with it). Dr. K added GAN to my regimen. Ask about getting your trigger shot at this appointment! 5. Fourth Visit (Day 8 of Stims) Ultrasound & Office visit with Dr. K Embryo retrieval instructions given 6. Fifth Visit (Day 10 of Stims) Ultrasound & Office visit with Dr. K Bloodwork order for estradiol test, needed to be done before trigger shot Instructed to take trigger shot that night Last day of stims--nothing to do tomorrow except wait for retrieval in 2 days. 7. Egg Retrieval (6th Visit) Arrive at 7 AM (no food or drink after midnight) Anesthesia is honestly the best part--a deep, relaxing sleep Dr. K will tell you how many eggs were retrieved before you leave You'll rest a bit, then get a prescription for birth control before heading home Before leaving, I met with Dr. Kim 8. Fertilization Updates Next Day: Dr. Kim emails/calls to tell you how many eggs fertilized 2 Days Later: He emails photos & calls with an update. Let him know here if you'd like to do PGT-A testing so he can prepare Another 2 Days Later: You get PGT-A results via email/phone 9. Waiting for Your Next Steps Dr. K said my period should arrive 7-10 days after retrieval. Once it starts, I'll take birth control on Day 1 again. At this point, I'm back in the dark about the next steps, so I'll update once I know more! Final Thoughts I really hope this helps someone out there who's feeling as lost as I was. I wish I had read something like this before starting my IVF journey at this clinic. If you have any questions or just need support, feel free to DM me. You're not alone!
The goal was to have a successful IVF journey, and Dr Khorram and Dr Kim helped my wife (43) and me get pregnant. As of 2/23/24, we have a healthy boy in our arms. We are forever grateful to the doctors and the staff. They got it right on our first embryo transfer. All while navigating through medical conditions, endometriosis and ovarian cysts. The journey was long and at times felt we were getting nowhere, but Dr Khorram had us trusting the process with patience being key. This is a get down to business and not a spa experience.
Ana and Claudia have been so kind during our process. We highly recommend this clinic to anyone who decides to do IVF. The entire staff has been so friendly and professional.
